It can be seen from Wu's behavior that he loved his ward very much and took care of her. He wanted to convey to her all the values that guided his life.

Cash
Cash has been Shifu's opponent for a long time. It was because of him that the man lost his school, which he cared so much about. Despite Cash's numerous insidious attempts to seize the territory where the kung fu school was located, Wu was adamant in his decision and did not bow to Cash. He lost his life because of him.
History
Pre-Series
Wu Shifu was the last one to defend Sacred Cave with Prodigious. He lost hope when his students left, and he had no successor. The students were bribed by Cash, who wanted to buy back the territory of his school. After one of the magical full moons, he heard an abandoned baby in front of the school, whom he named Fei. Shifu spent all his knowledge and experience on the girl, training her as the new keeper of the cave and all magical things. He handed her the bracelet, trusting her completely. He soon disappeared. Fei immortalized his memory by putting up a modest shrine with his photo.

In "Miraculous Shanghai", Wu Shifu was reminded of Fei and Cash when the topic turns to the girl's missing foster father. Fei also remembers her father during a conversation with Marinette. The girl explains that it was Wu who taught her several foreign languages. She also says that her foster father wanted to open his school to tourists when he lost his students.
