—Wayzz, "Optigami" |
Wayzz[8] is a major character of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He is the kwami of Protection who is connected to the Turtle Miraculous.[9] With his power, Wayzz's wearer can use the bracelet to transform into a turtle-themed superhero.
Wayzz and his Miraculous are currently owned by Nino Lahiffe, who uses it to transform into the superhero Carapace.
Appearance[]
Wayzz is a small, light green creature that is 10 (or 4 inches) centimeters tall.[4] His appearance includes yellow eyes, green pupils, and an antenna on his head. He also has a slightly darker green turtle shell on his back and a short pointed tail.
- For more of Wayzz's designs, see Wayzz/Designs.
Personality[]
Wayzz is kind, compassionate, and helpful. He worries when Miraculouses are being used wrong and Master Fu takes risks, but he trusts the wisdom of Master Fu, although concerned for the safety of his partner, the remaining Miraculous, and other Miraculous holders. He has a sense of humor, teasing Marinette that she should have been given the kwami of lateness. He is also playful, happily running on a phonograph before getting stuck under it because of it being faster than him.
Wayzz can also be curious on occasion, seen in "Syren" when he and Tikki beg Master Wang Fu to tell them the secret to modifying their powers, and yet he is very understanding of what the consequences would be if he was captured with that knowledge. For the most part, Wayzz is obedient towards Master Fu, but he doesn't tell him everything at times, seen in "Sandboy" when he doesn't tell Master Fu the importance of tonight (the night of Nooroo's birthday) and apologizes for his mistake.
Wayzz admires those who show acts of bravery as Marinette and Adrien fought against his master's old sentimonster in "Feast" without any powers. He is also encouraging, too, as he tried to convince Master Fu to follow his disciples' examples and is also aware that not every problem can be solved by running away.
As shown in "Furious Fu", Wayzz can also be impulsive, as he even begs with his siblings through their puppy dog eyes in trying to go with Marinette to see his former master and later on allows himself to get caught by Master Fu.
Abilities[]
Wayzz is able to fly, levitate, carry objects that are heavier than him and phase through solid objects. He can also sense the aura of a Miraculous, like when a Miraculous is being used for dark purposes, sensing that Nooroo and the Butterfly Miraculous are under Hawk Moth's control. He also appears to have a strong connection to other kwamis.[10]
As a kwami, Wayzz gives the wearer the power of protection and transforms them into a turtle-themed superhero by entering the Turtle Miraculous.
Whenever the wearer uses Shell-ter, Wayzz begins losing power and eventually can't retain the transformation any longer, leaving the bracelet and reverting the wearer back to normal. To transform them again, he first needs to refuel by eating.
Relationships[]
Master Wang Fu[]
Wayzz is very loyal to and works well with his master, telling him immediately if he senses something wrong and, whether he fully agrees or not, trusting Master Fu's decisions about his chosens. However, he thinks Master Fu is unreasonable for trying to transform at his age, which Fu disagrees with. He is caring and considerate towards Fu, worried about his health.
In spite of his obedience towards Master Fu, Wayzz doesn't tell his owner about the importance of Nooroo's birthday in "Sandboy". When it ends with Hawk Moth almost finding the rest of the kwamis, he apologizes to Master Fu for not telling him sooner, and he and the others were forgiven by the guardian.
During "Feast", Wayzz is instructed by Fu to take Marinette's and Adrien's miraculouses and flee Paris when Fu's old sentimonster wakes. He sees that running is pointless and that his disciples are fighting back despite being powerless. He encourages his master to follow their example and pushes Fu to do the right thing. Fu, still remorseful, puts his kwami back in his Miraculous. After Fu returns the jewels to his disciples, Wayzz is released again, happy that he made the right choice. When cornered by the sentimonster, he is happy to be the guardian's kwami after all these years.
In "Heart Hunter", Wayzz warned Fu to not transform in order to protect himself from Hawk Moth and Mayura. He sadly couldn't say goodbye to Fu in "Miracle Queen", as his master transformed and then lost his memories when he passed his ownership of the Miracle Box.
Upon hearing that Master Fu and Marianne are coming to visit Paris in "Furious Fu", like his fellow kwamis, Wayzz expressed his desire to see his old friend and terribly missed him. Reuniting Wayzz hears that Master Fu and Marianne were a married couple in London and had become a painter but the kwami's desire to him was so much he snuck out of Marinette's backpack when being picked up by his amnesic master despite being passed off as a toy, Wayzz was ecstatic to be held and touched by his old friend again despite Fu no longer having memories of them being together.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug[]
When Master Fu chooses Marinette as the Ladybug Miraculous holder, Wayzz is unsure if she'll be up to the challenge. Though he hasn't met her, after she and Cat Noir successfully defeat Stoneheart, Wayzz compliments Master Fu on them being a great choice. In "The Collector", Wayzz happily introduces himself to Marinette.
As seen in Miraculous Adventures, Wayzz likes Marinette, and he eagerly and willingly explains the history of the kwamis to her with Master Fu and Tikki. When she has to leave because she is late for a hangout with her friends, Wayzz doesn't mind and finds it amusing as he teases her on her way out.
In "Anansi", like Trixx, Wayzz is trusting of Ladybug's judgement in picking Nino to wield his Miraculous.
Wayzz is surprised that Master Fu let Marinette be the new guardian of the Miracle Box after his passing in "Backwarder".
During "Feast", he is instructed to take Marinette's earrings in an attempt to flee Paris and save her. When he sees her fighting back against his master's old sentimonster despite being powerless, Wayzz commends Marinette for her bravery and for having the soul of a true hero.
After seeing Marinette pull off the greatest feat of wearing many miraculouses and not suffering any ill effects in "Kwamibuster", Wayzz believes that she is truly special.
Even since Master Fu has passed his role, he respected Marinette as the new guardian in "Furious Fu" but Wayzz along with his siblings were up for using the "puppy dogs eyes" on her when they begged her to allow them to see their former guardian despite that he remains supportive of her.
In "Destruction", Wayzz like all his other siblings months prior before their capture they were taught by Marinette on what to do when they were stolen and when their plan was put into action it was nearly a success and he was happy to finally go home and no bared ill will towards his guardian for what happened in "Strikeback". Only for it to be dashed when he and the others were taken away by force.
In Re-creation, during Bug Noir's battle against Monarch, his guardian manages to snatch the Turtle Miraculous from him, but became worried when Wayzz did not appear and demanded that Monarch tell him where he was, to which he said that Wayzz and his companions they were in cages. After the wish, Ladybug freed Wayzz and his companions and restored his miraculous to its original form and sent Wayzz to live permanently with Nino.
Tikki[]
Wayzz gets along well with Tikki, both treating each other as friends. In "The Collector", they play with each other around the room and on the phonograph, and in "Robostus", they drink tea together on top of the phonograph.
They both share the same curiosity about modifying their powers in "Syren". They have shown that they work well together in "Sandboy."
When Wayzz agrees with Master Fu's order to retrieve the earrings in "Feast", he apologizes to Tikki. After Master Fu passed his role to Tikki's owner, Wayzz along with his fellow kwamis moved in with her.
Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir[]
Like with Marinette, Wayzz isn't certain if Adrien will be a good choice for wielding the Cat Miraculous. He accepts Adrien and Marinette as the right choices after the new superheroes save the day in "Stoneheart".
In "Syren", Wayzz officially meets Adrien. He shows concern for Cat Noir in "Malediktator" when the villain turns him into an actual cat.
During "Feast", he is instructed to take Adrien's ring in an attempt to flee Paris and save him. When he sees Adrien fighting back against his master's old sentimonster despite being powerless, Wayzz commends Adrien for his bravery and for having the soul of a true hero.
Nino Lahiffe[]
Wayzz meets Nino in "Anansi", as it was his Miraculous's power that was needed to fight the titular akumatized villain. Following Nino's amused and intrigued reaction, not at all intimidated by the kwami's presence, Wayzz explains to him the instructions to turn him into a superhero, firmly sure of Ladybug's wise choice. In "Catalyst", Wayzz has become closer with Nino, shown by doing a special handshake the next time they meet and catching onto the way he talks by saying "dude".
As of "Miraculer" and "Party Crasher", the two continue working together to help their allies against Hawk Moth.
In "Rocketear", Nino briefly transformed into Carapace to catch the dinosaurs that escaped from the zoo.
In Re-creation, after the defeat of Monarch Ladybug restores Wayzz's Miraculous to its original form and permanently gives Nino the turtle's Miraculous and Wayzz and Nino are very happy to be reunited.
Chloé Bourgeois[]
Despite not meeting Chloé in person, Wayzz does not find her as a suitable person to be chosen to wield a Miraculous. He wonders how Marinette could have given a Miraculous to her until Wang Fu told him that Marinette would never have willfully given one to her.
Plagg[]
Wayzz and Plagg get along well, treating each other as friends, but in "Style Queen", Wayzz becomes very upset with Plagg when the latter denies all the trouble he caused in the past. Despite that, the two can work well together, as seen in "Sandboy".
When Wayzz agrees with Master Fu's order to retrieve the ring in "Feast", he apologizes to Plagg.

Gabriel Agreste/Hawk Moth/Monarch[]
At first Wayzz did not know Hawk Moth's identity, but he knew that Nooroo was under his service and like all his other kwami companions he wanted to rescue him.
In Heart Hunter, Hawk Moth managed to find Master Fu and he was forced to use Wayzz's power to protect himself from his, thus preventing the Turtle Miraculos from falling into his hands.
However, in Strikeback, Felix betrayed Ladybug and, using Barkk's power, stole all the Miraculouses from the Chinese Miracle Box, leaving Wayzz and his companions under the service of Monarch.
In Evolution Gabriel treats Wayzz and his companions as slaves demanding their complete obedience, later he uses Wayzz's power to protect himself and prevent Ladybug and Cat Noir from stopping him from taking the Rabbit Miraculous from Bunyx but he failed, later he used it to prevent Ladybug and Cat Noir from entering the Burrow with him.
In Destruction Wayzz and his companions are forced to reveal to Gabriel the location of their guardian but they end up leading him into a trap organized by Ladybug to recover Wayzz and his companions but ultimately ends up failing, later Gabriel melts Wayzz's miraculous and turns him into an alliance ring to transfer Wayzz's Protection power to any akumatized villain he desires and imprisoned Wayzz and the rest of his companions in cages.
In Reunion Monarch transfers Wayzz's power to the Pharaon
In Transmission Monarch transfers Wayzz's power to Kiku
In Intuition Monarch tries to use Wayzz's power to imprison Astrocat but his plan failed so many times that he had to stop.
In Protection Monarch transfers Wayzz's power to Riposte Prime.
In Revolution Monarch transfers Wayzz's power to Police robots.
In Re-creation, Monarch tries to use Wayzz's power to prevent Bug Noir from taking his rings but fails and loses the Turtle Miraculous, then his guardian managed to defeat Monarch, freeing Wayzz and his companions from the control of him.

Trivia[]
- In the pavilion of the phonograph, Wayzz can be seen sleeping in a matchbox with a picture of the famous Théophile Steinlen poster art of the Parisian establishment, Le Chat Noir hanging on the side.
- Wayzz's name is based on the word "wise", and is pronounced the same way in the original French dub.
- However, in the English and Russian dubs, "Wayzz" is pronounced the same as "ways".
- From his turtle based appearance Wayzz appears to be based off of a sea turtle.
- Mentioned in "Syren", since he remembers tasting the Aqua potion before it means at some point he used his aqua powers but it's unknown what he looked like in said form.
- According to "Feast", Wayzz has the longest record of being active being with Master Fu over the course of several years.
- Wayzz was the fifth kwami to have his Miraculous destroyed following Fluff and Plagg in "Timebreaker", Pollen in "Queen Wasp" and Nooroo in "Miraculous Shanghai".
- Wayzz is the sixth kwami to be used for evil, though briefly, following Nooroo, Duusu, Plagg (in an alternative timeline in "Cat Blanc" and "Ephemeral"), Pollen (briefly in "Miracle Queen") and Liiri (briefly in "Miraculous New York"). Wayzz and his Miraculous were used for evil in "Optigami" by Sentinino and later in "Strikeback" by Hawk Moth, who used them, with the Butterfly and Fox Miraculous, for his Message Transmission.
- Wayzz is depicted with eyelashes in Season 4.
