“ | If I wear several Miraculous at once, I can fuse their powers and become even more powerful. | ” |
Unification is an invocation that allows a Miraculous owner to activate two or more Miraculouses at once.
Description[]
This power, when activated, allows the user to wield more than one active Miraculouses at once, giving the user access to the superpowers and tools of each. Using additional Miraculouses also grants greater enhanced physical abilities than a single Miraculous would on its own. The user also gains a new costume that has attributes of each of the animals that all the Miraculous they are using are themed after.
The user can unify their Miraculouses when they are already transformed with one, or activate both while they are still in their civilian form.
Two Miraculouses[]
To activate this effect, the user must speak the names of the two kwamis whose Miraculouses they wish to combine, followed by speaking the unification transformation phrase. If someone unifies two Miraculouses from the beginning while being in their civilian form, the transformation phrase is "Dual Metamorphosis". Alternatively, the phrase "Unify" can also be used, however it's mainly used if someone activates a second Miraculous while already wearing an active one.[1]
If the user wishes to deactivate one of their Miraculouses while keeping the other one active, the user must say the name of the kwami they want to release followed by speaking the detransformation phrase: "Divide". An alternate way to unfuse is to say the detransformation phrase of the Miraculous they wish to deactivate, as seen in "Optigami" and "Sentibubbler". If the user wishes to deactivate both Miraculouses at once and return to their civilian form, then the detransformation phrase is "Reverse Morphosis".
As shown in "Evolution" and "Deflagration", the user can deactivate one or both of their Miraculouses by taking them off.
When the Miraculouses are used in unification, the weapon of one Miraculous can be combined with the superpower of the other jewel, creating a new effect. An example of this is when Dragon Bug used the Ladybug Yo-yo in conjunction with the Dragon Superpower, Water Dragon to create a water bubble barrier.[2]
It is currently unknown whether the second Miraculous will keep an underage unified Miraculous holder from still being under the effects of the detransformation timer after using one of their superpowers. The answer is partially revealed by Rabbit Noir in "Evolution"; if an underage Miraculous holder is unified with the Rabbit Miraculous, it seems the user won't be affected by the timer, as the Cat Miraculous didn't time out after Cataclysm had been used. This doesn't exactly answer the question though, as the Rabbit Miraculous already didn't time out after its power has been used, due to the Miraculous of time being unaffected by regular time. It should also be noted that even with the unification with the Rabbit Miraculous, Cataclysm still could not be used more than once, even though the power of Burrow could.
It's unknown what would happen if Tikki and Plagg or any of the kwamis tried to combine their powers on their own without a holder.
Upward Unification[]
Unification is not limited to only two Miraculouses at a time. As seen in "Strikeback", the same rules apply to a fusion of three Miraculouses; the user speaks the names of the three kwamis and speaks the unification phrase "Unify". When the user wants to return to only a single active Miraculous, they say the names of the two kwamis they wish to release and say "Divide".
This rule is further explored in "Evolution"; if the user already has two Miraculouses active, they can activate three more by speaking the names of all five kwamis and then speaking the transformation phrase "Unify". The user can later activate a sixth Miraculous by speaking the names of all six kwamis and speaking the transformation phrase "Unify".
Also in "Evolution", it's revealed that if someone wants to transform from civilian form with three Miraculouses at once, they have to say the names of the three kwamis, followed by the transformation phrase "Triple Morphosis".
This same episode reveals that undoing the multi-unification works the same way as well. The holder needs to say the name(s) of the kwami(s) they want to release, followed by speaking the detransformation phrase "Divide". Monarch used this method to release three kwamis at once, leaving three still active.
The user can deactivate all of their active Miraculouses at once and detransform back to their civilian self by speaking the detransformation phrase "Reverse Morphosis".
In "Destruction", it's revealed that the user can release the kwami of every active Miraculous except the kwami they called first by speaking the detransformation phrase "Divide" without saying the name of any kwami. Monarch used this method to deactivate every Miraculous he was using except the Butterfly Miraculous, having said Nooroo's name first when he initially transformed.
In "Miraculous Paris", it's revealed that when the user has multiple Miraculouses active and they wish to unify new kwamis and release others at the same time, they say the names of the kwamis they wish to keep and unify, and the other ones that are active, but didn't have their names said, will be released from their Miraculouses.
Reforged Miraculouses[]
As seen in "Illusion", the rules of unification worked a little differently with the Miraculouses that were reforged into rings. Monarch was able to absorb the kwamis into the rings from their cages and could utilized their respective superpowers. However, this seemed to be fundamentally different from Unification, as Monarch's costume did not gain the characteristics of any of the other animals and the strain of using the additional Miraculouses was greatly reduced.
When Monarch attempted to use Unification with the Butterfly, Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses in "Deflagration", he spoke the names of Tikki, Plagg, and Nooroo, but did not speak the names of any of the five kwamis (Mullo, Stompp, Kaalki, Pollen, and Orikko) who had been absorbed into the rings, implying that the rings have nothing to do with Unification process of normal Miraculouses. However, in "Intuition", when Monarch detransformed, he deactivated the Butterfly Miraculous and released all the kwamis from his rings simultaneously by saying "Reverse Morphosis", which suggests there is some form of Unification between the rings and the normal Miraculouses.
Drawbacks[]
Using more than one Miraculous at a time gives the user too much power and comes with great risk; it requires the wearer to have the physical and mental resilience to handle the strain, the Miraculous owner could also potentially "lose their mind". Marinette had a brief dizzy spell after she put on nearly every Miraculous in the Chinese Miracle Box, despite only activating one. In this case, however, she was able to offset the dangers by using the Mouse power of Multitude to split herself into smaller copies and dividing the Miraculouses among them so she, and by extension they, were never using more than two.
In "Evolution", it is revealed that unifying too many Miraculouses, seemingly starting at five, takes a heavy toll on the user, with magical electrical discharges occurring over their body, causing them a feeling of great pain and a sense of exhaustion. These side-effects grow more pronounced if more Miraculouses are unified into the mix or if the superpowers are used repeatedly without giving the kwamis the food they need in order to recharge, to the point where the user can barely even stand, and is implied to be potentially lethal if the user persists. Monarch collapsed after unifying seven Miraculouses. The effects can be overcome if the holder deactivates the Miraculouses, or at least some of them.
It's shown that prolonged or constant fusions of the same two jewels don't have lingering effects on the kwamis or their users, as neither Gabriel Agreste, nor Nooroo and Duusu, have shown any negative side effects from continuous unifications of the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses.
However, for the kwamis, if their Miraculouses are unified and used constantly without defusing to give them food or rest, their powers will become weak and it is implied that their physical forms will be destroyed in the process. According to Sass in "Evolution", when in that state if the user destroys the kwamis, they destroy themselves.
In "Deflagration", the unification process won't work if one of the Miraculouses needed for the fusion is either missing or destroyed.

Trivia[]
- Throughout the show, there have been inconsistencies, with the division phrases. In "Kwamibuster", Multinoire and Multifox say the name of the kwami they want to keep first, and the one they want to divide second. In the same episode, Multibug only says the name of the kwami she wants to divide, and later in "Strikeback" and "Evolution", Pennybug and Monarch, respectively, do the same. In "Miracle Queen", Dragon Bug and Snake Noir say the names of the kwamis they want to divide first, and the name of the one they want to keep second, in "Optigami" and "Sentibubbler", Lady Bee and Pegabug, respectively, only say the detransformation phrase of the kwami they want to divide, and later in "Destruction", Monarch says "Divide", without saying the names of the kwamis he wants to divide, and lastly, in "Re-creation", Bug Noire said "Spots and claws away". It's currently unknown whether this is intentional, and all phrases can be used, or if they're just errors, and only one of them is the correct one.
- Marinette has the most fusion forms: Multifox, Multinoire, Multibug, Dragon Bug, Lady Bee, Pegabug, Pennybug, Ladyfly and Bug Noire.
- She, Adrien, Alix, and Gabriel are the only known Miraculous holders to use fusion forms.
- Additionally, she and Gabriel are the only two known Miraculous holders to use upward fusion forms.
- She, Adrien, Alix, and Gabriel are the only known Miraculous holders to use fusion forms.
- In "Miracle Queen", Queen Bee attempted to use the Bee, Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Goat, Rooster, Dog, and Pig Miraculouses simultaneously; however, due to her not knowing the right commands (and the kwamis' refusal to share them) as well as possibly due to her lack of experience, she failed at unifying those powers and achieving a fusion form.
- At the end of each unification sequence, the icon is in the form of a yin-yang with the icons of the two Miraculouses that were unified. This mainly implies the balance between the powers of the two Miraculouses.
- Shadow Moth is the only unfication with a full transformation sequence.
- The Butterfly Miraculous has been unified with the most Miraculouses, with it being unified with the Peacock, Rabbit, Turtle, Fox, Bee, Dragon, Dog, Horse, Ox, Mouse, Rooster and Ladybug Miraculous.
- In "Kwamibuster", Master Fu said that the result of fusing too many jewels would give the user too much power to the point of making them lose their mind, implying that this similar action happened to a past wielder.
- In "Truth" and "Queen Banana" Gabriel uses "Unify", instead of "Dual Metamorphosis" when activating the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses from his civilian form. This mistake was corrected from "Gabriel Agreste" and onwards.
- The record for most miraculous fused together at the same time by a single holder is 7 (Gabriel Agreste in "Evolution"). These Miraculous were the Butterfly, Rabbit, Fox, Bee, Turtle, Dragon and Dog.
- When Monarch unified the Butterfly Miraculous along with other Miraculous in "Evolution" and "Destruction", his outfit didn't change and only the crystal shapes on his costume are glowing. This could be because Monarch wasn't using all of the Miraculous he was wearing. He did however, gain red with black polka dots on his outfit in "Deflagration" as it changed to have the appearance of both the Butterfly and Ladybug Miraculous. This could also be that Monarch was wearing both the Butterfly and Ladybug Miraculous in their original forms and those were the only Miraculous in their original forms he was wearing.
- It's currently unknown what would happen if a holder attempted a unification with a damaged Miraculous.
- However, it could be possible that the effects of using the damaged Miraculous will pass on to the holder who unifies the said damaged Miraculous with the one that is not damaged.
- There have been many examples of Miraculous holders not having all the tools of the Miraculouses they'd unified, usually only having the tools of their previous form.
- In "Kwamibuster", Multinore doesn't have the Cat's Staff.
- In "Miracle Queen", Snake Noir doesn't have the Snake's Lyre.
- Throughout Season 4, Shadow Moth often doesn't have the Peacock's Hand Fan.
- The same happens with Shadow Noir in "Ephemeral".
- In "Strikeback", Pennybug doesn't have the Rabbit's Umbrella.
- In "Evolution", Bunny Dog sometimes doesn't have the Rabbit's Umbrella.
- In "Destruction", Monarch sometimes doesn't have the Turtle's Shield.
- In "Deflagration", Monarch Bug doesn't have the Ladybug's Yo-yo.
- As shown in "Evolution" and "Destruction", users can seemingly wield up to four Miraculouses at once without issue, with five or more causing strain.
- However, in "Miraculous Paris", Monarch was able to unify the Butterfly, Horse, Bee, Rooster, and Mouse Miraculouses with no drawbacks.
- In "Illusion", Monarch stated that he could absorb up to five Kwamis in his rings, implying that using six or more could cause similar strain to when he used multiple Miraculouses in their normal form.
- It is revealed in "Miraculous London" that the power up potions can be used during unification.
