    • I totally knew that Marinette was going mix up the letters.

    • When Marinette gave the prescription to Adrien I knew something bad was going to happen. But in the end, both Hawk Moth's bathroom lair and Adrien buying Marinette constipation pills was probably the funniest moments of this episode.

Otherwise, this episode was quite interesting. I'm a little surprised that Master Fu's friend is his lover, but what can I say, there is a lot of romance in MLB. The villain's design reminded me of a mixture of a wind-up toy and a chess piece, which is quite fitting. It was also nice to see Kagami's mother. Overall, this is probably my favorite episode in this season thus far.

    • In any case, there were a lot of new details. For example:

      1. According to Master Fu's wishes, Marinette is to become his successor as Guardian of the Miraculous when he is no more. And since Master Fus camouflage is partially revealed, I can well imagine that the distribution of the miraculouses happens earlier, maybe this season.

      2. Hawk Moth now knows that the Guardian of the Miraculous is called Master Fu. And that he has a girlfriend.

      3. Ladybug can open her yo-yo and get out the things she put in her shoulder bag as Marinette.

    • Pretty nice episode! Right now my favorite one of season 3.

Raise your hand when you totally saw coming Marinette mixing up the letters as soon as you saw a close up shot of them being put in her purse? *raising my hand*

Marinette thinking Kagami and Adrien being alone in London for a week-end alone is a nightmare and trying to keep them apart. I thought she was going to go to London too. Adrien searching the entire week-end for constipation medicine in the end. At least Master Fu can thanks Marinette and Chat Noir now. XD

I didn't know Ladybug's yo-yo could also carry the stuff she usually carries in her bag, good to know it does more than just purifying akumas with that light. I wonder how much she can put in it, would be interesting to see. Though I guess she has no limits because magic.

Kagami and her mom appear! I didn't think I would see them there. So I guess that explains why Adrien refered to Kagami's mom as a world's champion in the past tense like the grand-father in Riposte. She's blind now. So no more fencing for her. Gabriel and Adrien being perfect gentlemen to the Tsurugi's women. It's weird seeing Gabriel so nice and Adrien actually copying him. XD

Fu and Marianne being cute together.

Marianne not finishing reading Marinette's letter. For one moment I would have thought she would finish it and think Fu would have Alzheimer, or would have gotten a new lover named Adrien and breaking her heart like that or something, oh well.

Loved Backwarder's design. I thought she would touch people and they would grow up faster, making them lose their years in the literal sense while she would get their years and get young again, but the cracks on her helmet/mask/whatever disappearing was pretty sweet too.

Marianne and Fu almost became Ladybug and Chat Noir in the past. I think Fu was wise to say no, it would have made people just chase them even harder I think.

Oh sorry. She said :"why don't we just kidnap Kagami?"

The other girls didn't agree. Marinette wanted to try, but the others put their foot down.

Also, Feri pointed out that Kagami's mother use a sword instead of the white cane blind people normally use. I rewatched and yeah, she use a sheated sword instead of a cane. One does not mess with her it seems. She's scary and awesome I guess. XD

    • Gotta love the bathroom/toilet humor this episode. The Agrestes involuntarily did manage to steal some of Marinette's spotlight with that. Totally understand the girls at the first act, they weren't in mood to another convoluted plan. I somewhat feel worried about Chat everytime the "Ladybug Vision" involves him in the plan.

Have some backstory around Fu is probably the best part, since I'm hoping for some focus on him. Kinda thinking what could actually happen if Marinette becomes the next guardian and have to deal with a bunch of little critters at her house.

Yeah. Gabriel actually leaving the house of his own free will again! Since Queen Wasp, at least as a civilian. Going out as Hawk Moth in Catalyst didn't count much. Guess he's going out again now. Neat! And he brings Nooroo to London with him too, surprisingly. I understand the girls too for not wanting to kidnap Kagami. That's too extreme, even for them. Glad to see they were reasonnable this time. And they were right that Marinette just having to tell Adrien is the only way now. Too bad Marinette mixed up the letters though. Oh well. Too early this season I guess. I feel worried everytime Ladybug sees Chat Noir in spots in her visions too.

Fu looked exactly the same, only with brown hair and less wrinkles. And he had the turtle miraculous back then too already on his wrist I think.

Most complicated use of a Lucky Charm ever, as said by both Ladybug and Astruc. They were very clever. Gotta bow in front of their creativity this time. Nicely done.

    • I really don't get how someone could be as oblivious as that guy at the train station. I mean he probably heard every single word of Hawk Moth's monologeing,  even the part where he says "I am Hawk Moth". But, it's like he heard absolutely nothing. It's probably because he was so scared that he couldn't process what was going on. I mean, could've become the first person to actually discover Hawk Moth's identity. But this just goes to show how dumb people can really be in this show.

    • I sort of died at the end of it when Adrien said, "I spent the whole weekend walking around London looking for it." *holds out bag* "For you." The fact that he cared enough to spend the entire weekend looking for what had Marinette had asked for is super cute. And then Alya saw that they were constipation pills XD

Gabriel transforming in the bathroom really shows how dedicated he is to stalking Paris for people who are emotionally distraught. It's one of the few times we've seen him out of the house. This episode is probably my favorite out of the season so far.

    • I love that they included massive real world affairs. I've always wondered how the Miraculous come into play during things like World Wars. Do the holders get involved? Also. The people, presumably Nazis, chasing Fu and Marianne said exactly that they "must get the Box". The Nazis were aware of the Miraculous?

Occupying Adrien all weekend was definitely smarter than kidnapping Kagami ...

    • Like so many others, this is my favorite episode in season 3 so far as well.

This is the farthest Marinette achieved in confessing to Adrien. She didn't get nervous and back out at the last second like in Gigantitan or Frozer. It was only the mix up that kept it from succeeding. And she learned a valuable lesson that she should confess to Adrien before it's too late but also that she should wait for the right time.

This confirmed for me why Master Fu tells things only to Marinette and Adrien is left out and why Marinette is only the one to pick and distribute the other Miraculouses. He is training Marinette to become the next Guardian of the Miraculous.

Master Fu stopped Tikki and Wayzz from knowing the recipe to the power potion but he let Marinette know it. Nooroo once said that only Guardians can decipher the grimoire. I think only Guardians are supposed to know about Miraculouses and their secrets. Also, only the Guardian has the authority to distribute the Miraculouses. Master Fu was the one who gave Tikki and Plagg to Mari and Adrien. Marinette as a trainee can lend other miraculouses to others, but she has to have explicit permission from her "tutor". There is a reason why he says "Marinette, pick an ally you can trust" every time he opens the Miraculous box up to Mari.

Also, when Marinette is picking out a Miraculous she says stuff like "I need a miraculous with a power that can do this thing." then she knows what miraculous to choose. Either Master Fu taught her about the Miraculouses or she instictively knows what each Miraculouses can do and which one she needs to defeat the akuma. I personally think the latter is more fitting. When Mari is picking a new Miraculous she holds out her hand over them as if she's trying to 'feel' their Qi and acquiring knowledge by insight rather than teaching (like Lucky Charms) is a common trope in East Asian culture.

And more morally acceptable too. Even if she didn't occupy him with the right thoughts though. He was nice enough to not say what it was in front of her friends and not laugh or make fun of it at least. Marinette said it was really important, but Adrien can't really just leave London like that for contispations pills asked by a friend of his. I wish we had seen at least Adrien, Kagami and their parents dressed up for the royal wedding. Oh well.

In "Sapotis," when Marinette first got an extra miraculous, Master Fu said, "Marinette, I taught you all about the miraculouses and their powers" ...

So before the first combat a reasonable basic training - as in the military.

Oh, thanks. So Master Fu taught her. But still, how she chooses which Miraculous to use, along with how she finds the use for her Lucky Charm reminds me of the Taoist concept of intuition.

    • How to use the lucky charm is pure intuition. And this "quick thinking" is precisely the great strength of Marinette / Ladybug.

    • I must say I really loved this episode, far better than Chris Master. We finally got a glimpse of Master Fu's past, as well as Kagami's mother. Didn't imagine she was blind. Hawk Moth transforming someplace other than his lair was a welcoming change as well. As for Backwarder... she was awesome, but I found her design super creepy. One thing is clear, I adore the way Miraculous Ladybug was used in this episode. Saying Catacysm backwards, amazing!

Now then comes the ending. Come on, we ALL saw coming the letters being mixed up, but for a moment I thought it was Master Fu's letter the one that Adrien got. When I saw him with those prescriptions... well let's just say I reacted almost the same way as Marinette. If something like that ever happened to me, I'd probably bury my face on the ground.

    • This probably my favourite episode out of all the seasons we’ve had since it had romance, plot and action. Of course Marinette mixed up the letters. I mean, what did we expect? Adrien and Gabriel transforming in the bathroom. Also the bathroom seems to make a pretty good lair lol. Where the heck did the butterfly come from? Hawkmoth knowing master fu’s existence and name is actually so much more frightening than what ppl make it look to be. Also Marianne. She is amazing. When she got akumatized she thanked Hawkmoth for giving her a second chance? Is she working for him? Also when Kagami’s mum! She seems strict also no one will EVER think about messing with this women, she’s got a sword for a walking stick! Also it was hilarious when he spent the whole weekend in London searching for pills for Marinette! Not to mention hilarious after Alya states they were constipation pills. I couldn’t stop laughing! More plot is all I needed. We know that he was on the run when he had the miracle box and we know Marianne probably assisted him in accidentally burning the temple down and all.

    • This is probably the episode with the most plot development in Season 3, or even the whole series so far

Master Fu’s past and his friend Marianne were pretty interesting. Marinette obviously messed up the letters. Hey, at least Adrien was nice enough to buy her constipation capsules XD

Kagami and her mom are both pretty strict and serious. And Gabriel transforming into Hawk Moth in the bathroom XD

I was wondering if Hawk Moth can store butterflies in his cane, is that the reason why he has a whole lair of butterflies? Does the cane generate butterflies or does it just store butterflies?

    • I must wonder why Adrien says he looked all week-end for constipation pills? Aren't they all available in every pharmacies? How can he spends an entire week-end in one of the capitals of the world looking in every pharmacies for some? Unless London got a problem... Still a bit weird. Or it was just to make the final line even more hilarious. Probably it.

Backwarder almost looks like some fancy toy. Really neat!

    • I can say it's the BEST EPISODE OF MLB EVER PUBLISHED! So inspiring for a 2 minutes of flashback, I'm thinking a gazillion theories and fanarts right now. Also the Backwarder's design, Ladybug's awesome reversed plan too. It looks like magic can make everything LOL :D Ladybug can use her yo-yo as a purse, purifier, a stopwatch, a smartphone (she can watch some TV channels from it), a grappling hook, a knife (the string is too sharp enough to cut a building with brute force), and soo much things.

I loved the details about the Backwarder's past-present design (chess is more than 400 years old and there is windup toys nearly 6 decades).

Also, Adrien might thinking about the letter for not to forget to buy... COSTIPATION PILLS? LMHORN HAHAHAHA. I saw a discussion about a recipe written in France can only be bought in France. He still might bought it from Paris :P

What a Miraculous Tool, huh? A butterfly-creating (or summoning) cane, a yo-yo that can be nearly everything... So much to see though.

I wonder about how the train employee didn't hear the conversation of Hawk Moth. I guess the sound insulation is good on trains LOL.

Shortcut: Chess-windup toy inspired past-present connected outfit design (cwtippcod) is awesome, a Swiss-knife-like-yo-yo is unbelievable, and a present of love being constipation pills makes me laugh my head of :D

Waiting the fanarts and fan theories right know, I'm going to publish one too :D

Marinette should trust her parents to at least know who she is. It's a families to be there for you anywhere. Master Fu is trying to keep the Miraculouses out of the wrong hands and Marinette takes after him, but those are all "What ifs." I say "What is life without a little risk?" I think the team should share secrets with each other and their families.

Then they might not be "secrets" anymore. They (LB&CN) should think about the scenarios, there is always possibilities of the Truthseeker's appearance (might not, because it's an akumatized villain I made up)(Truthseeker has the power to reveal secrets and find the truth) or they might just blow out the secret (or "have to").

    • I think it's some sort of taboo. There are many legends where the magic dies or gets tainted when it's exposed to the outside. Miraculouses are kind of like sacred or religeous objects than only a chosen few are allowed to know and handle.

Besides, Miraculous in the wrong hands could bring the end of the world. Fu already failed once when he lost peacock and moth. He won't take any risks.

    • Now! This is what I call a episode! Like many of you said: it was the best episode in Season 3 till now!

I love the fact that they chose the theme of the episode to be love confessions because that's what fans need: answers to their questions. I'm pretty sure majority of this episode was foreshadowing to Marinette confessing to Adrien soon and I have a feeling that when the confession happens: a lot of changes will take place.

In a overall, I was surprised to see that Kagami's mom was blind and what did Gabriel call her again...Sakurisan? It was something like that. I know nothing about the Japanese names or culture so please excuse me. Anyways, Marianne was an interesting character and I know this is not the end of her, we'll see her in the future again.

Thomas actually confirmed that the Nazis were attacking Marianne and Fu which I found extremely fascinating because it's rare for cartoons to give a glimpse to historical features like this, it's mostly dinosaurs and scientist inventions in cartoons. But Miraculous has proved to be enjoyable for all ages.

Master Fu was correct when he said something like 'it's never wrong to be too careful'. The fact that he introduces himself to everyone as Mr. Chan protects his identity as the guardian. Since Hawk Moth knows his name now, he'll be willing to track him down, and Gabriel too knows Master Fu as Mr. Chan from Syren; it won't be too easy for Hawk Moth.

The way Ladybug used her Lucky Charm this time was incredibly ingenious. This show is getting more interesting as episodes pass by: I can't get over the fact that Thomas had to demonstrate to the team on how the lucky charm had to be used, trying to picture it in my head.

Hawk Moth sending akumas from the bathroom was simply hilarious, ha! Both father and son in the washroom for a long time. Kagami and her mother must have thought they were crazy.

The fact that passengers on the train were mocking Marinette and her letter pissed me off so much...people can be so insensitive!

Marinette mixed up the letters, I wasn't a teensy bit surprised, knew it was bound to happen. Before Adrien boarded the train, his and Marinette's little conversation was so deep and it even touched my heart...I noticed the way he gasped: he was completely mesmerised by her words. But what did we get...constipation capsules.

I laughed my head off at the last part! I can't believe he spent his entire weekend searching for those pills! I was laughing for so long at 22:30 in the night...my mom thought what on earth was wrong with me...oh! well! more capsules for Master Fu so he doesn't have to worry about dying.

In a overall, this episode was phenomenal with comedy, action and romance!

It was. Though it's only the fourth of 26, so I hope we can get other good episodes like that.

Maybe yes, maybe no. He did reject her as Chat Noir in Weredad, guess he won't be happy to reject her again as Adrien. Unless he falls for her. Or not. Given Marinette did told him before that she wasn't interested in him...

He called her Tsurugi-san. He used her last name and added san at the end. Maybe so that we don't learn her first name right now.

Some past miraculous holders were pretty famous and historical characters like Joan of Arc and Hypolita, so no surprise here.

Fu uses aliases when around other people next to Marinette and Adrien so that people won't connect the dots is pretty clever. Then again when people don't know you it's easy too.

Yeah. I think his staff thought he went crazy when he tried it. XD

      Yeah. Or eccentric at least.

One at least told them off. At least someone defended her. But yeah. Marinette, don't talk to yourself in public, especially when you write a confession, people are mean.

The fact that when she bumped into someone right after giving him the letter and saying medical emergency probably didn't help. XD

Constipation sucks. And really uncomfortable. So yeah, it is nice to get those pills as soon as possible.

She let Adrien read Marinette's letter just fine. And they don't seem to be dating at the end. So I suppose she was fine. Or she was wondering what Marinette wrote. Either way she didn't do anything in the episode, so we can't say much. Given Marinette actually considered to kidnap her just for being invited at the same event as Adrien, just her narrowing her eyes suspiciously seems okay.

Yeah...you're right...she does appear to be more curious and suspicious of what Marinette wrote in the letter rater than jealousy. Hopefully, we'll see her soon with a proper speaking role (Onichan) The question that needs to be answered is whether Kagami has a crush on Adrien and if she does how deep do her feelings go. But, anyway, that's not what te thread is about...

Back to Backwarder, I'm pretty sure the girls too our getting exhausted with Marinette not confessing yet especially Alya. I agree with them; the only way they'll be proper development on the Adrienette side is Marinette confessing otherwise it'll just move in this constant pace, things won't work out...it'll be too late. This episode was centred around time...the morals of this episode was:

      1. There is a right time for everything

      2. You can't do anything to change the past but what you do in the present can affect your future.

We can simply come to the conclusion that it isn't the right time for Marinette to confess yet...Marinette's confession to Adrien is clearly important as they're highlighting it too much. They didn't quite emphasise Cat Noir's confession...they might have done it in Dark Cupid but it wasn't extreme and that was the only episode...eventually, it happened in Glaciator. The difference is that before Cat Noir's confession, Ladybug suspected him having a crush on her: at least she got the right idea. However, Adrien is completely oblivious about Marinette's feelings and thus this confession will be a huge surprise for him and I'm pretty sure when it happens, it'll be a turning point of the story.

In addition to the point you mention of Adrien being oblivious, I think that Cat Noir's confession did not need to be emphasized because
      1) Since Season 1 the focus (relationship-wise) has been on Marinette having a hopeless crush and wanting to confess but being too insecure and awkward, as whole episodes have been built partly around her dreams/plans/schemes/attempts to impress him
      2) Cat Noir has made his feelings more obvious the whole time so there was "less" for him to confess - the viewers as well as Ladybug could tell he was devoted to LB early on (although in "Glaciator" LB finally realized how serious his feelings are)
      3) CN did not really - knowingly - confess to the person he had fallen for, but instead to Marinette whom he saw as a friend. So Marinette confessing straigh to Adrien, instead of telling CN that she likes Adrien, is going to be a bigger deal. (Supposing she really does confess to Adrien.)

    • Wow! I really loved this episode. Definitely my favorite, with Chameleon a little further down. Some of the best parts (in my opinion):

      1. The sincerety in Marinette's voice and eyes when she gave Adrien the letter was beautiful. The writers are definitely making this a very slow-burning romance, but I know that the reveal will probably be beyond anything I've considered. We've seen how good the writers are, so I wouldn't expect less 😂.

      2. Again, like in Weredad, Adrien shows how much he values his friendship with Marinette, this time going through all that just to get her constipation pills 😂😂 He probably thought they were special ones that could only be found in London because of how she worded it.

      3. Okay! Enough about their romance. Seeing a flashback of Master Fu (I didn't even realize it was him until later) was pretty cool.

      4. A new character which revealed even more information about Master Fu's life. I hope we see more of her in the future!

      5. The animation quality has improved. A lot of people are saying it's because of a (Korean?) company. Well done to them and fingers crossed that they stay because it makes quite a difference, in my opinion.

      6. The complicated lucky charm really mixes things up and made the episode more interesting. I'm excited to see the other ways they change the format of the show, which I've noticed they've done since season 2.

      7. The bathroom humor was the comic relief of the episode. Without it, Backwarder could've been much more serious. The humor ran a little subtler in the train scenes.

    • So, after seeing Marianne and Fu together, Marinette must feel hopeful. She's only been struggling for months. They've waited decades.

Don't wait too much Marinette, Adrien might get taken by Kagami, if he ever stops waiting for Ladybug, he might go for Kagami since she told him she would wait for him the day he would let go of his crush.

    • This episode makes me more curious about how Kagami actually feels, especially after that image. She didn't looked jealous to me either, just curious. In Onichan, will she target Lila because she indeed has a crush on Adrien... or will it be because she can't stand what a lying cheat she is? I'm beginning to think it's the latter. If she had feelings for Adrien, she would've been akumatized already because of Marinette, especially after all the attention Adrien gave to her in Frozer, going as far as to ignore her even though Marinette already had Luka. Unless she simply finds Marinette more likable? Even so, I don't think she has a crush on him, or maybe not just yet, but she shows a genuine interest in spending time with him and get to know him better. And with her mother and Adrien's father interacting more often like Backwarder showed, she has more chances.

    • I haven’t been waiting half as long as most people here for Marinette to confess her feelings for Adrien and for the identity reveal and I already feel extremely impatient! In other circumstances I probably would have deemed Backwarder as one of the best episodes ever but due to this mood I skipped through it and wasn’t able to enjoy it that much. Am I the only one who feels like this?

When Marinette gave the prescription to Adrien I knew something bad was going to happen.

It reminded me of something you'd see in Ben 10. lol

Now!

I think her name is Sakura, which is the name of the cherryblossom

At first glance she might look jealous, but that's only because we can't see her eyebrows. Trust me, that's not a negative emotion she's displaying---she's probably just showing some curiosity about Marionette talking to Adrien. I'm sure she knows what was supposed to be in the letter. After all, she was the one who gave Marionette that push in Frozer (despite what a lot of people seem to think, I truly believe she was acting with the best intentions when she spoke to Marionette). Frankly, I'm not a fan of the Adrigami ship, but that's only because I think they're better suited as friends. Hopefully her presence in this episode means that she'll get a bigger role later in the season.

She wasn't really jealous in Frozer.

I think Feri confirmed that Kagami misunderstood the situation and thought that Marinette was the girl who 'broke Adrien's heart' (which technically is true as LB and Marinette are the same person but nobody knows). She was cold with Marinette because she thought that after she broke Adrien's heart, she had the nerve to come to the ice rink with another boy...but she knew that Marinette did share some feelings for Adrien (her feelings are actually way deeper than that) and therefore she told her stop hesitating or Adrien would be out of her reach. I did think Kagami was a bit jealous of Marinette in Frozer though...

As we discussed before, she appeared curious in Backwarder rather than jealous.

    • I thought this episode was really good. After watching episodes like "Weredad" and "Christmaster," I'm glad we've finally got a well-thought out, plot-oriented episode. The flashback scene was probably my favorite part of the episode---I really, really want to see more flashbacks to the past! I especially liked the black-and-white animation, and the red lights against the background was such a great effect. It was interesting for them to include Paris' past in the Miraculouses lore. I wasn't sure if those were Nazis chasing them, since in the English dub they had normal American accents, but it's really cool that they would integrate real history into the show!

I am so glad that they're finally moving Adrienette along. Even if it still went back to the usual status quo at the end, at least Marionette made some serious progress with her confession. She didn't stutter, blush, or try to back out once, and when she thought she'd delivered her letter, she was relieved, not panicking.  This is the sort of junk I'm here for---Marionette being cool, calm and ready to DO something about her feelings, rather thanjust bumble through them and waiting for somthing to happen. I'm proud of her for finally taking action.

I thought the akuma was pretty good. I'm not sure what exactly the vanishing cracks were supposed to represent (when I first watched it, I thought it meant that she only had a certain amount of "undos" in her system, but apparently that's not it). Marianne is an interesting character, and I hope we get to learn more about her. I noticed that she and Master Fu seem to be parallels of Marionette and Adrien. Master Fu had dark hair, a short stature, and a tendancy to wait too long to tell his crush that he loved them, while Marianne had blonde hair, green eyes, and was deeply devoted to her own crush. I know Thomas really likes his parallels, so no way this was a coincidence.

Also, did no one else notice how REALLY similar Marianne is to Emilie and Adrien? I know it's really unlikely that they're related, but who knows---maybe Marianne is Adrien's great-aunt or something. That could be a reason the Agreste family is tied so closely to the Miraculouses.

The Lucky Charm in this episode was ingenious. It's definitely my favorite use of it so far. And I love how Chat had no idea what LB was doing, but he still went along because he trusted her completely. I will never get over just how much Chat trusts in Ladybug---despite his flaws, he really is with her 'til the end.

Hawk Moth. In a train's toilet stall. Just stop a minute and appreciate how ridiculous that whole situation was. I barely heard what he was saying, I was laughing so hard! And then Adrien almost busting in on him! Oh geez, that situation really was nuts, wasn't it?

I was also struck by the metro scene, when Marionette was writing her letter. First of all, Marionette should NOT have been reading something so private aloud. But I understand that it was for the benefit of the audience, and anyway, she was probably pretending that she was speaking to Adrien to make it more authentic.  Those boys looked like two teenage idiots, so I can also understand why they would heckle her seemingly out of nowhere. I'm really glad that that man stepped up and told them off about it. Given the writers' track record (Chameleon, anyone), they totally could've had everyone on the train laugh at her, or at least just had the boys laugh her off the train. But they included this guy trying to help. I guess that after seeing so many episodes where everyone is so callous and/or oblivious, it was nice to see someone looking after others.

Anyway, to sum it up: I liked this episode, I'm glad we got more plot, and for the first time in a long time, I'm excited to see where this is going. I hope we see more of Marianne and Fu's past, and the Miraculouses past in general. Can't wait for the next episode!

I noticed that the young Marianne did look a lot like Emilie Agreste, with similarly shaped big green eyes and even similar facial structure, although there are differences as well. Your theory of Marianne being related to Emilie is interesting, as is your idea of the Master Fu / Marianne and Adrien/Marinette parallel.

Another thing about eyes - almost all of these characters have eyes that are proportionately bigger than normal human eyes, which is just part of this animation style and generally considered attractive. But some characters have HUGE eyes. Marianne and Aurore Beauréal have eyes that take up almost a third of their face. Not that it matters much, but for me it's a bit unappealing and makes them look more unrealistic, like they were dolls rather than people. (Hmmm. Rose and Alya have really big eyes too, but they look better somehow. I guess I'm not making any sense so I'd better stop now. :D )

Well Kagami is already a very serious individual, so it makes sense she has serious expressions. And I agree with Scarlet fox and Feri, from Kagami's point of view Marinette breaks Adrien's heart, go with another guy and still has feelings for Adrien despite all of that. She just tells her to stop hesitating before she hurts someone again I think. She saw how heartbroken Adrien was and she didn't want to see him like that again, then again who would want to see their friends being hurt.

I think here she was suspicious of Marinette. But jealous? She let Adrien read her letter without a fuss, let him leave his seat without calling to him, and he spends the entire week-end looking for constipations pills for Marinette. I think in terms of jealousy she's not very high. She likes competition, and if Marinette takes it seriously she won't mind much. She won't stand it if Marinette runs away from her feelings like a coward though. She might feel she would break Adrien's heart if she did or something.

      True.

Marinette was overreacting in Copycat, she isn’t going to be put in prison in life for theft. Even if Adrien did find out she’d took his phone, she’d probably make up some silly excuse as usual and return it; our oblivious boy here would believe it so she wouldn’t end up getting in trouble in the first place.

Kidnapping, however, is a different case.

Even if Adrien did find out she’d took his phone, she’d probably make up some silly excuse as usual and return it; our oblivious boy here would believe it so she wouldn’t end up getting in trouble in the first place.

Kidnapping, however, is a different case.

Unless Kim talks about how he saw her give him his phone back. I think he saw it.

I think Kagami could kick all of their butt if they tried to kidnap her actually, so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work.

How do you get the idea, you could judge that? You have never seen Kagami fight.

It obviously wouldn't work at all!

Kagami is a warrior to the core, kidnapping her would be more risky for Marinette and the girls rather than Kagami the Ice Queen.

Kim's carefree reaction only proves that Marinette has done a number of crazy things in the past too and her classmates are used to it.

      Or

Marinette's classmates simply hold a high opinion of her and simply think that she has a valid reason for doing what she does. But if that was the case they'd at least would've tried and listened to her claims about Lila.

    • I'm not talking about the risk, but about the skills.

You have never seen Kagami fight, only fencing. And what you must be able to do that is worthless if you have to fight without a weapon.

Marinette has fought countless times as Ladybug, with what she had at hand. It's not that Marinette forgets it all when Tikki detransforms her - she just loses her superpowers. And she does not need superpowers against a normal person. How did Tikki once say? "Marinette is Ladybug, only without costume".

I do not want to go into that now, the thought that Marinette could do something like that is silly anyway. But I also find it ridiculous to say that Marinette can't do that because Kagami would then beat her up.

      I guess you're right...

None of us can judge the capabilities of Marinette and Kagami as we haven't seen their skills properly yet (I doubt Marinette is as strong as when she's Ladybug but she defintitely would have some skills). Kagami just seems the fierce type to me who would defend and fight in any situation rather than cowering down and holding back..

Since Marinette would never do such an absurd thing as kidnapping let's switch the topic?

What was the name of the British megastar mentioned (I doubt she's a real person)? Was it Adaline?

I just said that I think Kagami could, not I bet Kagami would or Kagami would totally beat them if they tried. Just wishful thinking on my part.

She knows how to use her body, and you kind to have to know what to do with it before holding a weapon I guess, just to not hurt yourself. She is quite athletic, so she has some pretty good muscles, and I think she wouln't hesitate to use them in a fight even without a weapon in her hand.

Mari could knock her out with a weapon. And because it's Marinette without the suit, it would automatically means she would win too? She did lose some physical fights as Ladybug. She was outclassed along with Chat Noir in a fist fight against Hawk Moth, who only had his fists while she had her yo-yo and CN his staff. She nearly got killed by Riposte twice, having Adrien rescue her the first time and CN the second. In some episodes she get incapacited by the villains powers and it's only thanks to someone else that she is still around, Pharaoh, Lady Wifi, Puppeteer, Volpina, ect. She got nearly killed by Timebreaker only for CN to take her place. She can lose. It's sometimes by having help from others that she can pull through. She could have lost ages ago. She can lose solo. Her friends made it clear they wouldn't help her kidnap Kagami. So alone against her? She could either win or lose. But it's not guaranteed that she would automatically win.

Is it really? Marinette did want to try it. We're talking about the girl who has no problem doing extremely immoral actions to get what she wants when they are much easier way and actually acceptable ones. She lies, steals, and manipulates events so that she can have what she wants without much remorse sometimes, and even enters in serious competitions just for a chance to be with her crush instead of getting the nerve to simply hang out with him more casually or abuse her powers to get in the way of her love rivals when they get too close to her crush. Bubbler, Copycat, Mime, Reflekta, Gamer, Riposte, Gigantitan, when you count what she does in those episodes, it kind of wouldn't be surprising to almost see her pull out a kidnapping next. I don't think Kagami would give her an easy fight. Or she would talk her down about it. Anyway, let's switch topic.

Okay - It may be that she carefully calculates this possibility. But since she certainly does not want to visit the inside of a gloomy Parisian prison, she will consider the risk too high. After all, she is 14 years old, and thus, I believe, according to French law, in punishment.    :-)

      Edit: She is in punishment.

The fear of going to prison didn't keep her from stealing a cell phone.

Haha, thinking about it makes me laugh!

    • I must wonder how exactly stronger Backwarder was growing by using her powers, it made the cracks on her mask disappear, but what else? She got younger too or something? She didn't seem to get faster or stronger than she already was at the start.

Maybe. But it was vague though. Apart from the cracks of her mask disappearing, she doesn't change.

The cracks disappearing may refer to how much time she has got as in going younger

Probably. But when they all disappeared, then what? She still went down without a hitch.

    • This is an detailed explanation to the use of Ladybug's lucky charm in this episode for those of you haven't understood it distinctly:

Okay, so lets start when Ladybug tells Cat Noir instructions in the ankle. I'll start from the bit after Cat ties the kite to his ankle:

      1. Stretch your hand forward [Ladybug demonstrates it] and take a few steps back.

2.Say Cataclysm backward (Msylcatac) and then pull the pipe back to you

[Then he puts his hand down and pulls the pipe back to him ]

      3. Follow me

[I'll follow you till the ends of the earth, m'lady! and follows LB]

[Ladybug runs to Backwarder with Cat Noir at her heels]

Before Ladybug leaves, we see her adjusting a chronometer on her yoyo. It isn't shown onscreen but if you truly understand her plan: it's clear what she's doing. Ladybug uses the chronometer to record the time in between when Cat says 'Msylcatac' to when Cat is hit by Backwarder (It's 45 seconds). When Cat is hit: she uses the chronometer as a timer set for 45 seconds immediately. If you realise: Cat says something after he's hit, at first I thought his words were being played backward, which is correct but it's not only his words but time has gone backward for him too. He says: ?tahw rof yrroS ; which is "Sorry for what?", he says that before he is hit so why does he say that again? It's because it's not only his words and actions that have gone backward but time has as well. Then, Cat Noir is seen running back to the destination of the 'cross drawn on the sand'. He's retracing his steps; he followed Ladybug to Backwarder and since he's been hit by Backwarder: he goes back from Backwarder to the cross. When he reaches the position he started from, he says: ydal'm htraE eht fo sdne eht ot uoy wollof ll'I ; which is "I'll follow you to the ends of the Earth m'lady". That's what he said before he followed Ladybug. As soon as Cat Noir says that, Ladybug fakes spraining her ankle; when the moment is right, Cat Noir pushes the pipe to the cross as you remember this was the time where he was told to pull the pipe back to him (it's not in backwards), simultaneously, Ladybug jumps with Backwarder an inch away from her. Backwarder trips over the pipe and skids towards Cat Noir [Ladybug's timer stopped]. Cat Noir raises his hand and says 'Cataclysm' breaking the brooch! If you remember: he put his hand down and said 'Msylcatac' at this moment.

If you noticed, Ladybug kept looking at the chronometer ,that was being used as a stopwatch, whilst telling Cat instructions and running towards Backwarder in the start. She did this because so after Cat Noir got hit, she knew when to do what. Accordingly, by checking the timer, she decided when exactly to lead Backwarder to the cross, when exactly to jump and when exactly to fake spraining her risk. As her actions also needed to match Cat's actions that were in backwards.

The lucky charm this time was used ingeniously and I must say I love how impeccably well the whole plan was carried out! Keep up with the good work, Thomas!

[If you're still confused: relate to Cat's actions and words whilst Ladybug told him instructions and after he was hit by Backwarder, see how these actions and words have been switched around]

    • Well, it's very obvious, isn't it?

I like how ladybug's IQ is superior, she timed the momment and the backward movements just right.

    • Thomas Astruc is very proud of this lucky charm. I think he has every reason to do so.

Yeah. Wonder if he'll come up with an even better one after that. Gonna be tough. Hope he'll take on the challenge.
