Description[]
On the Place de la Sorbonne side, the Sorbonne stands out for its elegant proportions and the dome of the Sorbonne Chapel. Following the Baroque line, this chapel has a façade with two orders of superimposed columns delimited on the floor by two volutes. It is decorated with four niches, each with a statue: St Thomas Aquinas, Pierre Lombard, Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet and Jean Gerson. In the center of the façade, two muses hold up a clock surmounted by the coat of arms of Cardinal Richelieu.
Further north, in Rue de la Sorbonne, there is a Haussmann-style wing which houses, among other things, the Sorbonne Library.
