We have a plan for a long Miraculous series. Seasons 4, 5...

Sébastien Thibaudeau, Miraculous live event

The fifth season of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir was confirmed by Jeremy Zag.[21] It consists of 28 episodes (with one being a World Special and the other a special episode about plastic pollution) that premiered on June 13, 2022 on Gloob in Brazil. This is the final season of the Agreste family arc, as being the first arc on Miraculous.

Season overview

First summary

Ladybug has lost the Miracle Box and its kwamis. She no longer has possession except her Miraculous and Cat Noir with his. Shadow Moth, who now calls himself Monarch, has never been so close to victory. He can now give his akumatized victims Miraculous powers and create super ultra-powerful villains. But, again as a duo, our heroes will be more united than they ever were.

On the heart side, it's the waltz of feelings! Marinette, who lost the Miracle Box because of her love for Adrien, decides to turn away from him and begins to take an interest in Cat Noir. At the same time, the latter doesn't feel the same interest in Ladybug because Adrien now recognizes his romantic attraction for Marinette.

Will Adrien and Marinette finally succeed in declaring their love?[22]

Note: This summary serves as the synopsis for the season as whole, but was only used by TFOU to advertise the first part (episodes 1–9) that aired in Fall 2022.[23] For the second part (episodes 10–18), which aired in Spring 2023, the The Kwamis' Choice summary was used instead.[24]

Second summary

The end of the year is approaching and Marinette, the class representative, is mobilized to communicate to the class council the students' orientation wishes. But she'll have to face up to Chloé and Lila, who want to take her place and discredit her.

Distraught by Gabriel Agreste's cold attitude towards her, she plucks up the courage to have a heart-to-heart talk with the father of the boy she's in love with... Will she manage to be accepted by Gabriel Agreste? Will Marinette and Adrien finally be able to love each other freely?

On the danger side, Monarch's days are numbered since Cat Noir cataclysmed him. He devises the ultimate plan to finally seize the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses and make his wish come true. Will Ladybug and Cat Noir be able to repel his attacks?[25]

Note: This summary was used by TFOU as synopsis for the third part of the season (episodes 19–26)[a] that aired in Fall 2023.[26]

Trivia

  • This season focused on Gabriel Agreste gaining possession of all Miraculouses from the Chinese Miracle Box (except for the Ladybug, the Cat and the Peacock Miraculous), rendering all temporary heroes recruited since season 2 unable fight alongside Ladybug and Cat Noir.
    • However, despite the temporary heroes being inactive, Nino formed a Resistance group composed of the inactive French Miraculous superheroes, up until Re-Creation, when they got their respective Miraculouses back permanently.
    • An exception is future Bunnyx, who helped the two main heroes recover the Rabbit Miraculous in "Evolution". This Miraculous is then given to present Alix, who leaves the present timeline until Monarch's defeat to safeguard it.
  • This is the first season to have Anne Yatco voice Olga Mendeleiev starting with "Passion", following the passing of Philece Sampler on July 1st, 2021.
  • At Hashtag Festival 2021, Thomas Astruc, Mélanie Duval, Frédéric que/Engel Lenoir and Sébastien Thibaudeau shared some new information:[77]
    • A new location is explored in this season — the Agreste mansion's kitchen, which is an important part of season 5.
      • It was supposed to appear in the season 4 episode "Gabriel Agreste", but since the creators can only create a limited number of new areas per season, it was postponed to season 5.
      • It appears in ten episodes, and part of the final fight in "The Final Day" takes place there.
    • Like all seasons, this one features new songs and music.
    • Some episodes are longer than 21 minutes, which, as explained by Thomas Astruc, is due to the creation of multiple extra scenes that never made it to the final product.
  • This is the first season to be rated TV-G (General Audience) in accordance with the TV Parental Guidelines. Previous seasons of the show were rated TV-Y7 (Directed to Older Children).[78]
    • However, Thomas Astruc had stated that this is unjustified, as their way of writing hadn't changed.[79]
  • Unlike seasons 1, 2 and 3, where each episode was written by a different set of writers, all episodes of this and the previous season were written by the same team (Thomas Astruc, Mélanie Duval, Frédéric que/Engel Lenoir, and Sébastien Thibaudeau).[80]
    • This season was also produced simultaneously alongside season 4.
  • This is the final season of the Agreste family arc, as being the first story arc of Miraculous.[81]
  • According to Feri González, this was planned to be the final season.
    • This is backed up by multiple statements from Thomas Astruc claiming that this season is the end of the first story arc, as well as promotional material released by ZAG.[82]
  • On TikTok, Ezra Weisz confirmed that this season in his opinion is more dramatic and thrilling than season 4.
  • According to Wilfried Pain, there would be a new character from the future.[83] However, such a character did not appear in this season.
  • When asked about the first eight episodes of the season, Thomas Astruc used a gif of an explosion.[84]
  • This is the first season to feature more than 26 episodes being part of the actual season, having 27 instead.
    • However, the 27th episode ("Action") is a standalone special not part of the season's overall story.
  • Unlike the past four seasons, the episodes of season 5 are not named after akumatized villains, sentimonsters or Miraculous holders, but rather concepts, with nineteen of them being concepts that each kwami and their Miraculous from the Chinese Miracle Box represent.
    • The only episodes not correlated to a kwami are "Reunion", "Deflagration", "Revelation", "Confrontation", "Collusion", "Revolution", "Representation", "Conformation", and "Re-creation". These titles instead refer to important events or themes within their episodes.
      • Although "Re-creation" is similar to Tikki's concept of Creation, the episode doesn't focus on it, instead referring to the re-creation of the world.
  • If it is considered that there is an end card in "Conformation", this is the second season where all its episodes have end cards, following Season 3.
  • Season 5 is the only season of the series that didn't have anyone's birthday.
  • Like the previous seasons, this one introduces a number of new characters:
  • Season 5 is the second season to feature two 2-part specials in its run with "The Kwamis' Choice" and "The Final Day". The first season to have done this was season 2 with "Queen's Battle" and "Heroes' Day".
  • Season 5 uses a new opening, which is an updated rendition of the previous season's.
  • As of this season, Atlantis Animation (formerly known as In Efecto Atlantis)[85], a French CG animation studio, has joined the production of the show. This studio has been described as "young but good", and trained by SAMG.[86] They participated in animating six episodes — "Destruction", "Illusion", "Deflagration", "Migration", "Collusion" and "Action".
  • Multiple new Miraculous unifications are seen this season:
    • In "Evolution", Adrien unifies the Cat and the Rabbit Miraculouses to become Rabbit Noir. Gabriel unifies the Butterfly, the Rabbit, the Turtle, the Fox, the Bee, the Dragon and the Dog Miraculouses, while Alix unifies the Rabbit and the Dog Miraculouses to become Bunny Dog.[87]
    • In "Destruction", Gabriel unifies the Butterfly, the Turtle, the Bee and the Horse Miraculouses.
    • In "Deflagration", Gabriel unifies the Butterfly and the Ladybug Miraculouses to become Monarch Bug.
    • In "The Final Day", Marinette unifies the Ladybug and the Cat Miraculouses to become Bug Noire.
  • In July 2022, Ezra Weisz, the English dubbing director, was brought onto a Twitch podcast with famous Latin American personality Nathaniel FD and revealed facts and information about Season 5:[88]
    • He mentions that they receive episodes out of order but hopes that season 5 premieres in order.
      • Most channels, including Disney, TF1 and RTS ended up airing them in order,
    • Lila and Chloé are going to become major threats, and they will cause problems this season.
      • As shown in "Deflagration", "Perfection", "Derision", "Protection", "Revelation", "Confrontation", "Collusion" "Revolution" and "Re-creation".
    • According to him, no dialogue has been recorded mentioning that Adrien is a sentimonster, clarifying it is not a confirmation. This is a reference to a popular fan theory that Adrien and/or Félix are sentimonsters.
      • This theory is explicitly confirmed through a play performed by Félix and Kagami in "Representation".
    • He defines the season as "Dynamic Change".
    • Each episode of season 5 will have something new; there will be a lot of manipulation, but that doesn't mean it's all going to be dark.
      • In "Evolution", how the heroes used Monarch's obsession and greed against him and retrieved the Rabbit Miraculous back.
      • In "Jubilation", Darker Owl was tricked into believing that Socqueline was the real Ladybug just to find out she was fan of the real one.
      • In "Reunion", Jalil was tricked by Monarch and tabloids about Ladybug's true intentions.
      • In "Deflagration", where Gabriel was overconfident in his victory over the heroes that he didn't count on the kwamis or the Resistance to fight back.
      • In "Perfection", where Lila manipulated Kagami into believing that Marinette didn't want to be her friend.
      • In "Migration", Bob Roth feigned niceness and tricked Kitty Section into signing his contract.
      • In "Derision", how Chloé manipulated everyone to stay away from Marinette or get her way as her and Kim's cruel trick traumatized Marinette but also taught her how to be more cautious.
      • In "Intuition", Monarch manipulated the scenes with Second Chance.
      • In "Protection", Lila took advantage of Kagami's emotionally instability into making her believe that Marinette was a manipulator.
      • In "Emotion", Marinette let Argos disappear her as Ladybug and due to him not knowing that both were same person, he was tricked into learning a hard lesson.
      • In "Revelation", as Adrien learned another side about how people who can trick others by their own kindness.
      • In "Confrontation" Marinette and Sabrina trick Lila and Chloé into exposing themselves by emotionally abusing Sabrina and revealing their conspiracy against Marinette and the rest of the student body, leading to Lila's expulsion from school and Chloé and Sabrina's friendship ending.
      • In "Collusion", Chloé, with the help of Lila (now Cerise), tricks everyone into thinking that Ladybug and Cat Noir helped Miss Sans-Culotte to force her father into resigning his place as mayor even if he decided he wanted to resign himself, leading to her becoming mayor of Paris.
      • In "Conformation", through the Alliance rings, Gabriel and Tomoe trick the entire world that Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapped Adrien and Kagami, leading to them becoming Miraculized to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir and to save Adrien and Kagami.
      • In "Re-creation", Cerise tricks Denis Damocles into letting her back into school, unaware to Denis Damocles that Lila and Cerise are the same person.
    • There will be serious relationships between Gabriel, Nathalie, and Adrien. Additionally, Marinette and Adrien's feelings for each other will develop further.
      • Which is shown in "Evolution", "Passion", "Elation", "Transmission", "Perfection", "Migration", "Derision", "Protection", "Emotion" and "Pretension".
    • Monarch doesn't know the full potential of all the Miraculouses; he'll become more evil. Marinette had only just started to understand how to use the power of so many Miraculouses just before losing them at the end of season 4.
      • Following "Evolution", "Destruction", "Deflagration" and "Intuition".
  • Only three episodes introduce new characters and akumatize them for the first time: "Transmission" with Kouki, "Intuition" with A.D.A., and "Action" with Bertrand.
  • One character from Season 3 (Véronique) is akumatized for the first time.
  • Like seasons 3 and 4, this season features numerous re-akumatizations, with some characters' old akumatized forms returning, while others being given new variations of them.
    • In "Evolution", a number of past villains are seen during Monarch, Ladybug and Cat Noir's travels through time, including Lady Wifi, Riposte, Rena Rage, Shell Shock, Style Queen, Queen Wasp, Rogercop, Mime, Despair Bear, Princess Fragrance, Pharaoh, Malediktator, Stoneheart, Horrificator, Gigantitan, Gorizilla, Gamer, and Glaciator.
    • Tomoe is re-akumatized into Ikari Gozen in "Multiplication", and later into a new version of Ikari Gozen, named Matagi Gozen, in "Pretension".
    • Denis Damocles is akumatized into a new version of the Dark Owl named Darker Owl in "Jubilation".
    • Gabriel creates an illusion of himself being akumatized into the Collector in "Illusion". Later, in "Representation" and "Conformation", he transforms into Nightormentor, a variant of the Collector.
    • Nathalie is akumatized into a new supervillain named Safari in "Passion".
      • An illusion of Timetagger appears in the same episode.
    • Jalil is re-akumatized into the Pharaoh in "Reunion".
    • André, the ice cream vendor, is re-akumatized into Glaciator in "Elation".
    • Sapotis, Party Crasher and Puppeteer appear during a flashback in "Transmission".
    • Chloé is akumatized into two new supervillains — Sole Destroyer in "Deflagration" and Queen Mayor in "Revolution".
    • Kagami is akumatized into a new supervillain, Ryukomori, in "Perfection", and Riposte Prime, a variation of Riposte, in "Protection".
      • In the same episode, Mr. Ramier is re-akumatized into Mr. Pigeon.
    • Bob Roth is akumatized into a new supervillain named Gold Record in "Migration".
    • Kim is akumatized into a new version of Dark Cupid, named Dark Humor, in "Derision".
      • Glaciator and Dark Humor appear in flashbacks in "Intuition".
    • Sabrina is re-akumatized into Vanisher in "Adoration".
    • Lila is akumatized into a new version of Volpina named Hoaxer in "Revelation".
    • Juleka is re-akumatized into Reflekta in "Confrontation".
    • Caline is akumatized into a new supervillain named Miss Sans-Culotte in "Collusion".
  • Following production order, the final four episodes of this season, not counting specials, ("Revolution", "Representation", and the two-parter "The Final Day") followed a similar structure to the final four episodes of season 2, ("Malediktator", "Sandboy", and the two-parter "Heroes' Day") in terms of their akumatized villains and/or plot.
    • "Revolution" and "Malediktator" focused on a member of the Bourgeois' family (Chloé and André) being akumatized into totalitarian dictators.
    • "Representation" and "Sandboy" focused on an akumatized villain with nightmare-based powers.
    • "Conformation" and "Catalyst", focused on Gabriel working with his closest allies to trick almost all of humanity and lure them into turning against Ladybug and Cat Noir.
    • "Re-creation" and "Mayura" focused on Marinette and her allies all working together to stand against Gabriel and his army of Miraculized/akumatized villains.
  • This season featured character arcs:
    • Marinette has 4 story arcs:
      • The first story arc involves her love life. It begins with her giving up on having a relationship with Adrien, believing that her passion was what made her lose all her Miraculous. She ends up falling in love with her partner Cat Noir, but the relationship doesn't work and she ends up entering a phase of anguish that ends after she accepts her feelings for Adrien again. Over time, Marinette and Adrien spend a lot of time together and even with attempts to hinder the romance, his love is stronger. In "Revolution", they have their first kiss and end up being involuntarily separated by Gabriel. The arc ends with Marinette and Adrien managing to establish a relationship without anyone else getting in the way.
        • In a minor subplot, Marinette tries to tell Adrien about her feelings, but she can't. The cause of her problem is revealed in "Derision" where the previous year she was the victim of a traumatic prank involving her love life, which is why she is afraid of establishing a relationship. This arc follows Marinette trying to overcome her fears and ends in "Adoration" when she finally manages to tell Adrien that she loves him.
      • The second story arc involves the growth of her powers: Throughout the battles against the akumatized villains who use the powers of the stolen Miraculouses, Ladybug's powers are adapting to situations involving akumatized people, this is best seen in "Intuition". The arc ends with Ladybug learning to control her powers as an adult, she can conjure a "Lucky Charm" object, then she can make it disappear and then conjure another infinitely. She also no longer needs to de-transform to recharge her power.
      • The third story arc is smaller but very important, involving her relationship with Gabriel Agreste. This arc begins in "Emotion" when Marinette discovers that he is not happy with his son Adrien's relationship with her. In "Pretension", they have their first argument with Gabriel completely rejecting the romance as Marinette is getting in the way of his and Tomoe's plans. For the remainder of the season he tries to dismantle the relationship and also conspires against her. The arc ends with both discovering each other's secret identities (her suspicions back in "The Collector" being true) and beginning the final battle.
      • The fourth story arc is small but important as well as this one deals with her finally solving the akumatization of her partner in "Cat Blanc", during the final fight against Monarch, she discovered his means and motive in the finale entering the same state of shock as Cat Noir did when the same fight happened in the alternate timeline. Taking what she learned from Cat Blanc (from her perspectiive) especially about her and him being an item but if the same held true for their civilians forms in the permanent timeline then the one thing Marinette couldn't figure out is how her being together with Adrien caused her his akumatization. Because she knows what she discovered would send Adrien through the roof but not Cat Noir unless both boys were same person but she hadn't figured that out yet.
    • Adrien has 3 story arcs:
      • The first story arc involves his romantic relationship, in which he gives up his feelings for Ladybug and becomes interested in Marinette. This arc follows Adrien trying to establish a relationship with Marinette, in which despite some turbulence, both manage to overcome them. In "Revolution", they kiss for the first time and end up involuntarily separating due to Gabriel's influence. In the end, this arc ends with Adrien managing to develop a romantic relationship with Marinette without anyone else being able to get in the way.
      • The second story arc involves his relationship with his father. As the season goes on, Adrien tries to be more independent from Gabriel and tries to confront him, but due to some "outside force", he always ends up following his orders. Adrien's relationship with his father begins to decline further after Gabriel discovers that he is in love with Marinette and tries to dismantle this relationship, culminating Gabriel in "Revolution" sending Adrien to London to separate him from Marinette as well as the protect him from his ultimate plan. In the end, this arc ends with the revelation that the "outside force" that seems to control him is actually a result of Adrien being a Sentimonster, and even though Adrien doesn't know the truth about his father, he seems happy that now that he is free from Gabriel's control.
      • The third story arc involves Adrien and his relationship with his powers where he begins to realize the destructive side of them fearing that he may destroy everything around him starting with him being depressed in "Destruction". Leading to using Catacylsm in fits of rage and anger from "Jubilation" and "Derision" needing to restrained or warned by Ladybug to the point where he is shown a nightmare about it in "Representation". But during the "Last Day", with the nightmare plague realizing he's too dangerous with the power he relinquishes it to Plagg thereby extension Ladybug unknowingly preventing the catastrophe in "Cat Blanc". Then, after Monarch's defeat and wish, Adrien and Plagg are reunited.
    • Sabrina has a minor story arc:
      • This arc involves her reconsidering her friendship with Chloé, after she and Lila treat her like a doormat to do their dirty work in their vendetta against Marinette while treating each other like equals. In "Confrontation" she joins Marinette in exposing Lila and Chloé's scheme to frame Marinette for ruining everyone's futures, to her classmates and teachers and ends her friendship with Chloé (since she was fed up with have to cross such moral lines to retain it). In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, Sabrina was given the dog Miraculous back and was reunited with Barkk.
    • André Bourgeois has a minor arc:
      • This arc involves him reconsidering his career and the choices he has made as mayor, particularly in how he has indulged Audrey and Chloé's every whim and they continue to treat him with derision and disrespect. In "Collusion", after Chloé chews him out for refusing to give into her unreasonable demands, such as having Caline Bustier arrested for blackmail, having Marinette's classmates repeat a school year and not go to high school, and cancel the end of school year dance that Marinette and Zoe planned. Gabriel scandalizes him using doctored footage for refusing to back his and Tomoe's agenda to replace the police with robots, he opts to resign as mayor and restart his previous career as a film director. In "Revolution", after Chloé, who had pulled a coup d'etat to succeed him as mayor, is overthrown and ousted by Ladybug, Cat Noir, the Resistance and the citizens of Paris, he opts to discipline Chloé by exiling her from Paris to London along with her mother.
    • Denis Damoclés has a minor arc: "In Re-Creation", he becomes Principal at Caline's new school.
    • Caline Bustier has a minor arc:
      • In "Collusion", after being fired by Chloé due to Cerise's manipulation for her being "evil" and being re-hired by André, she defeats Queen Mayor and becomes the Mayoress of Paris in "Re-creation".
    • Gabriel has a major arc:
      • From "Kwamibuster", Master Fu's warning and prophecy from Timetagger in the titular episode has come starting with Felix's betrayal that led to his overconfidence in "Evolution" and him getting cataclysmed by Cat Noir in “Destruction”, which speeds up his life which is shown in “Intuition” and he becomes crazy, knowing he has a limited time to get Emilie back and save himself. He starts to become more risky than ever before to figure out Cat Noir and Ladybug’s identity, trying to control everything with his “Illusion of a Choice”, but in "Re-creation” after losing the Butterfly Miraculous by Marinette, he realized that he ruined his son's life, all the people around him and the world, he betrayed Marinette by asking him to figure out a solution, but has a change of heart and redeems himself by sacrificing his life to bring Nathalie back and reuniting with his wife in the afterlife.
    • Cerise/Lila has a major arc:
      • Lila's purpose is to steal the Butterfly Miraculous from Gabriel in "Revelation" following her dismissal from failing to keep Adrien away from Marinette after stealing information thanks to Nathalie using Emilie's phone and receive the private information about the Miraculous Spellbook, Master Fu's tablet, the Graham de Vanily Twin Rings. In "Confrontation", she decides to dismantle Adrien's relationship with Marinette after not being friends with him anymore in "Transmission" and "Protection" and have him to herself by using Sabrina to change his forms and make it worse. After being exposed as a fraud, she leaves College Françoise Dupont and switches back to her original identity as Cerise and goes underground to help Chloé from behind the scenes in "Collusion", get Marinette expelled and dismiss Caline for manipulating students, and blackmailing thinking that she is evil. In "Revolution", she uses Chloé to her advantage to steal Tomoe's laptop that has all of Gabriel's secrets. She then abandons the former after her purpose has been served while she was exiled to London and hacks Tomoe's laptop. In "Re-creation", she takes Tomoe's laptop and becomes her third unknown identity to steal the Butterfly Miraculous after Gabriel's sacrifice to save Nathalie and join Emilie in the afterlife. After the wish was made, she was somehow able to get the Butterfly Miraculous, and after telling Denis that she will be registering in a new high school, she decided to put on the Miraculous not before blue lightning appears, leaving her fate unknown.
    • Félix has a major arc:
      • In "Emotion", with the Peacock Miraculous, Félix becomes Argos and creates a sentimonster, the Red Moon, and, with the snap of his fingers, he can make anyone disappear, so he, Adrien, Kagami, and later Marinette could be free from anyone's control. After realizing he's no better than his uncle, he returns everyone. In "Pretension", Félix starts to have feelings for Kagami and wants to free her from her controlling mother, Tomoe. He tells hers why he sympathizes with sentibeings and returns Kagami's real ring to her after her mother asks for it back, revealing to her that Tomoe has a fake one and they soon enter a secret relationship. In "Representation", after learning that Marinette is Ladybug, Félix and Kagami use the Once Upon A Time projector sentibeing to tell Marinette the history of the Graham de Vanily, Agreste, and Fathom families. Revealing that he and Adrien are sentibeings; Félix was created from his father's emotion of jealousy when he heard how Emilie and Gabriel were able to have a child before he and Amelie could. He was constantly abused and tortured by his father until his death due to the broken Peacock Miraculous slowly taking its toll on him and why he is obsessed with freedom. Félix also tells Marinette that he had to betray her to get the same Miraculous to protect his and Adrien's existence and to defeat Monarch because she was the only one who could and for everyone to have a happy ending. At the end of "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, he joins the French Miraculous superhero team and moved in to the Agreste mansion to stay as brothers/cousins with his mother, Amelie.
    • Kagami has major story arc:
      • This arc involves her emotions and relationships with friends and family. In "Perfection", she starts a friendship with Lila but after getting ignored by Marinette, she is manipulated by Lila into believing that Marinette doesn't want to be her friend anymore. She is later re-akumatized into Ryukomori, along with receiving the power of the Dragon Miraculous through her Alliance ring. She later de-akumatizes herself after being reminded of her friendship. In "Protection", she is once again manipulated by Lila into believing Marinette is a liar and is later akumatized into Riposte Prime with the power of the Turtle Miraculous. After getting de-akumatized, she refuses a Magical Charm from Ladybug, believing it will not help her. When Marinette and Adrien clarify the misunderstanding, she finally breaks down in tears and apologizes. Later, she confronts Lila, and despite knowing she's a liar, continues her friendship with her. In "Emotion", she goes to the Diamond Dance as she is the queen of the dance. When Argos attacks and makes everyone disappear with the sentimonster Red Moon, she confronts him along with Adrien to bring everyone back including Marinette. She later decides to stand up to her mother. In "Pretension", she is kidnapped by Argos to get to know her better. She starts to develop feelings for Félix, sympathizing with his feelings about his father. After her mother is de-akumatized, Kagami stands up to her, but is forced to give her ring back, only for Felix to reveal that it was a fake and gives her the real ring and they enter a secret relationship together. In "Representation", she knows Marinette is Ladybug after overhearing a conversation between her and Alya during "Perfection". Argos later retrieves her from London and brings her to Paris in order to ask Marinette for her help and to reveal the truth about Monarch and to stop him. In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, she is given the Dragon Miraculous permanently and reunites with Longg.
    • Chloé has a major arc:
      • This arc involves her alliance with Lila and the culmination of all her evil choices and deeds finally coming to an end. Starting their alliance formed in "Penalteam", secretly she and Lila work together to stymie Ladybug in her duties, ruin Marinette's life, keep her away from Adrien, and sow chaos throughout Paris on Monarch's behalf. Her actions and remorseless attitude eventually cause her to lose her remaining friends: Adrien, who ended their friendship in "Derision" for giving a stalker behavior to Marinette and Sabrina who ended it in "Confrontation" for abusing her after season 3. Afterwards, Chloé, with the help from Lila (who goes underground and now by "Cerise"), and her emotional state deteriorating even more, abuses her power relentlessly making her enemies miserable, and is eventually able to seize control as mayor with Cerise and Gabriel's help after her father resigns. From there, she imposes a dictatorship, and even hypocritically enters an alliance with Monarch after outlawing all superheroes and villains, willingly becoming akumatized and using her powers to imprison many dissidents. Everything ends in her trapping Ladybug and Cat Noir after tricking them into using their powers, hoping to publicly expose their identities after they transform back and end their hero careers, with the entire public, including their enemies watching in secret. However, the heroes not only manage to resist the de-transformation and unlock the adult versions of their powers, but inspire the citizens of Paris to revolt against Chloé's tyranny. In quick succession, she is de-akumatized, ousted as mayor, stripped of all of her power, abandoned (and betrayed) by her allies, and exiled to London by her father along with her mother, who blames her for ruining their family's reputation and name and vows to take control of her life again; beginning with her education. As Chloé gets away from her mother, she discards a chance to reconcile with Sabrina in favor of bullying Marinette one last time, but Marinette turns the tables on her, blasting her with cold hard truths and letting her know just how far she has fallen getting justice for all the people Chloé harmed for years before hanging up. Finally realizing from this that she has officially hit rock-bottom, Chloé breaks down in tears crying over what happened, as the weight of her new powerless, lonely reality hits her dead-on.
    • Zoé has a minor arc:
      • In "The Kwamis' Choice', she is chosen to be the new Cat Miraculous owner, Kitty Noire, but is forced to step down when Monarch has discovered her identity. In "Adoration", she confesses her love to Marinette, who also tells her she is the reason that Zoé has the confidence to stand up to Chloé. And creating the end of the school year dance. In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, Zoé is given the Bee miraculous back and reunites with Pollen.
    • Tomoe has a major arc:
      • She replaces Nathalie as the new boss for Gabriel in "Multiplication". It's revealed that she's the CEO of her own tech company, Tsurugi Industries, and is willingly aiding and abetting in Gabriel's plans to get Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses as she too wants a wish to create a new world order. Tomoe sees Marinette and Félix as obstacles in her and Gabriel's plans. It's also revealed that she wants her daughter to end up with Adrien and for them to be the new world order's eternal icons, thus immortalizing the Tsurugi name. In "Re-creation", after Gabriel sacrifices himself, she takes over his company in hopes of "continuing his legacy".
    • Nathalie has a major arc:
      • She severed her ties with Gabriel after he failed to save her and Emilie using the Rabbit Miraculous in "Evolution" when she realized that he chose his obsession with Ladybug and Cat Noir. In "Passion", her new intention for staying at the mansion was to protect Adrien from his madness. She re-watched Emilie's secret tapes and tried to get the Miraculouses for herself to stop Gabriel from re-creating the world, but gave up after failing to do so. Still wanting to honor Emilie's wishes she looked after Adrien like a mother would. Over time, she and Gabriel secretly fight for Adrien's control over his life, especially his romantic relationship with Marinette. While Gabriel tries to force his son into total obedience and get back together with Kagami, Nathalie tells Adrien not to let his father or anyone else tell him who he can or can't love. Gabriel makes good on his word and sends Adrien to London in "Revolution", despite Nathalie's best effects and objections. In "Representation", her illnesses take a toll on her, and Gabriel takes the other half of the ring containing Adrien's amok after thinking that she played a part in his escape. In "Conformation", Nathalie attempted to do a video message for Adrien, but failed to do so. She also tries to stop Gabriel, but passes out and is taken back to her room. Ladybug confronts her, and before succumbing to her illness and died, but not before, she gives Ladybug Emilie's recordings and urges the superhero to stop Monarch at all costs. She recovered from their illness when Gabriel sacrifices his life and makes the wish. She is currently the co-owner of the mansion with Amelie, who moved in with her son, Félix, to be closer to Adrien.
    • Luka has a major arc:
      • In "Migration", after Monarch discovers he knows Ladybug and Cat Noir's identities, Luka is forced to leave Paris in order to protect the secret. With Jagged and Penny accompanying him, he makes Juleka the face of Kitty section while Nino replaced him in the band itself. In "Re-creation", after joining the Order of Guardians with Su-Han, Luka is informed by Bunnyx that Ladybug needs their help in the final fight against Monarch. He is later brought to Paris to fight back against the Miraculized army and is reunited with Juleka. After Monarch's defeat, Luka returns home and is given the Snake Miraculous permanently and reunites with Sass.
    • Nino has a major arc:
      • Nino even though he doesn’t have a Miraculous anymore starts a Resistance group to help Ladybug and Cat Noir from the shadows. He is taking over Kitty Section after Luka left to hide in Rio in "Migration" Throughout the rest of the season, he inspires his friends to help stand up to Monarch especially seen in “Revolution". In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, Nino is given the turtle miraculous back and reunites with Wayzz.
    • Alya has a major arc:
      • She continues to be Marinette's supporter in various episodes and briefly takes over the mantle of the Ladybug Miraculous returning as Scarabella in "The Kwamis' Choice" and "Revelation". In "Re-creation", after Monarch's defeat, Alya was given the fox miraculous back by Marinette and is reunited with Trixx.
    • Alix has a minor arc:
      • She finally becomes a holder and her mission is to protect the Rabbit Miraculous. In "Evolution", Ladybug requests her help to retrieve the Rabbit Miraculous from Monarch. Using the Dog Miraculous as Canigirl, she retrieves the Rabbit Miraculous and unifies it to be Bunny Dog. When Alix attempts to return the Miraculous to Ladybug, she allows her to keep it. Thus, Alix becomes Bunnyx and her mission is that she had to be away from the present timeline to protect the Rabbit Miraculous. She was greatly missed by her friends and family, especially her brother. In "Reunion", when Jalil is re-akumatized into the Pharaoh, Ladybug requests Bunnyx's help in solving a riddle without her returning to the present. In "Re-creation", as she couldn't meddle in the present, Bunnyx brings Luka, Jagged, Penny, Su-Han, and Fang to Paris to help fight against the Miraculized. After Monarch's defeat, she finally returns to the present timeline and joins the French Miraculous superhero team.
    • The kwamis have a minor arc:
      • Despite being Monarch's prisoners more is learned about their powers throughout season 5 and even a better understanding of the concepts they represent being showed throughout the series. As a callback to Seasons 1 and 3, as well as through "Miraculous Paris", it's revealed that when young Miraculous holders use their jewels for evil, it overrides the security system that protects them from using too much of their vital energy with results in black streaks appearing on their bodies and will eventually destroy them. The kwamis also live in parallel universes simultaneously and by the end on season 5 the kwamis are reunited with their true owners on a permanent basis.
  • Season 5 features sixteen episodes with post-end card scenes — the most out of any season so far.
  • Thomas Astruc on Twitter used a series of GIFs to represent the fans' reactions to the season 5 episodes, meaning every episode of this season has a big bomb or some kind of important impact.
    • The following are considered important plot points:
      • "Evolution" - Gabriel unifies the Butterfly, the Rabbit, the Turtle, the Fox, the Bee, the Dragon and the Dog Miraculouses.
        • Then he uses the Rabbit Miraculous' power, to travel through time. Firstly, he tries to get the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from a past battle, but he is unable to do it because of present Ladybug and Cat Noir following him through time. Later, he tries to give a USB drive from Nathalie containing instructions to fix the Peacock Miraculous to his younger self in order to prevent Emilie and Nathalie from getting sick. However, thanks to his obsession over getting Ladybug and Cat Noir's jewels, he passes up the opportunity, believing that he could just return and do it later as long as he had the Rabbit Miraculous. But he loses it to the heroes, thus ruining any and all of his chances, and upon learning of this, Nathalie severs ties with Gabriel.
        • Adrien also unifies the Cat and Rabbit Miraculouses to become Rabbit Noir. This moment is also a token of Ladybug's trust on him, as she normally is the one to fuse Miraculouses.
        • Present Alix finally becomes a Miraculous holder, first using the Dog Miraculous from the 1940s to retrieve the Rabbit Miraculous from Monarch, uses both to become Bunny Dog[89] and then keeping the latter. To help Ladybug and Cat Noir in their fight against Monarch and retrieve all the other Miraculous, Alix will not return to her time and must remain in the Burrow until the supervillain is defeated for good.
        • This is the second time where we see two time versions of the same Miraculous holder that isn't Ladybug, following "Timetagger", the second was Alix, but only one of herself were transformed but this time it's both and the first time we see different time versions of Cat Noir at the same time, but unlike Ladybug and Bunnyx, he doesn't interact with his past self.
      • "Multiplication" - Tomoe Tsurugi is re-akumatized in Ikari Gozen and is allowed to use the power of Multiplcation, Multitude, becoming "Ikari Dozen".
        • She is also revealed to have created technological rings that allow Monarch to give the power of the Miraculous that he stole to the akumatized villains. That fact also hints that she knows about Gabriel's identity as Monarch and has been helping him.
        • Su-Han is revealed to overlook his job of observing Marinette as a Guardian. He also leaves Paris to return to the temple and get reinforcements to help in the fight against Monarch.
        • Marinette, blaming herself and her feelings for Adrien for the loss of the other Miraculouses, decides to give up on pursuing her love for him once and for all. At the same time, Adrien starts to realize his feelings for Marinette and finally tells his father that he no longer wishes to model, which Gabriel accepts. From now on, Gabriel will use a digitized version of his son to do his commercials.
        • Alix's father, with Ladybug's permission, reveals to her classmates and teachers about her superhero status and indefinite absence until Monarch's final defeat.
        • Félix is revealed to be hidden in his house under his mother's protection and puts on the Peacock Miraculous for the first time.
      • "Destruction" - Gabriel forces the kwamis to tell him who Ladybug is, but they are revealed to be unable to tell the identity of their guardian, as the guardian responsible for their Miracle Box has the same status as a regular holder and, since Ladybug never renounced her role as Guardian, she is still technically their holder.
        • Months prior "Strikeback", Marinette devised a plan to prevent Monarch from discovering her identity in case he captured any of the kwamis and forced them to take him to her home, while at the same time luring him into a trap. The plan nearly worked, as it almost allowed the duo to discover Monarch's identity, but it failed.
        • Cat Noir was forced to do the one thing he feared the most: use his powers on someone. It's revealed that when Cataclysm is used on a person with the added protection of the Miraculous, their suit is damaged, and if the injury is not healed by Ladybug's powers, it leaves a painful scar on the recipient.
        • The kwamis have remarkable homing instincts, the magical spell prevents them from revealing their Guardian's identity but not location.
        • Gabriel destroys the Miraculous in his possession (except for the Butterfly) and reforges them into rings that are later combined with the Tsurugi's technology. He starts transforming only with his Butterfly Miraculous and has a brand new costume.
      • "Jubilation" - Denis Damocles is re-akumatized into a newer version of Dark Owl, Darker Owl, and is allowed to use the power of the Pig Miraculous, Gift.
        • Gabriel's alliance ring has a special feature which alerts him if anyone, wearing the Alliance Ring, is performing superhuman feats, such as traveling a large distance in small amount of time.
          • It means that if Marinette, Adrien or anyone with a Miraculous wear the Alliance Ring, intentionally or by mistake, while transforming into their alter ego, their secret identity would be exposed to Gabriel.
        • Monarch is confirmed to be able to both transfer the Miraculous superpowers or use them himself, now using the power of the Horse Miraculous, Voyage, to send his megakumas towards his victims so they have little chance of escaping them and to prevent his megakuma from getting astray.
        • It is shown that the power of the Pig Miraculous, Gift, can be used to force a target to live their dream, instead of just showing them.
        • This episode shows that Ladybug's main wish is to recover all the Miraculouses from Monarch and live peacefully, whereas Cat Noir's main wish is to marry Ladybug and settle down with a family.
          • Because they were hit by the same Gift, their dreams were combined into one, creating one big dream where they defeat Monarch and settle down together as a couple and with a family of their own.
      • "Illusion" - Gabriel creates an illusion of himself being akumatized into The Collector that gets the power of the Horse Miraculous, Voyage, in order to trick the Resistance, Ladybug and Cat Noir and deviate any suspicion from the Alliance and its role in the transference of the Miraculous superpowers to his akumatized villains.
        • Nino creates a secret organization called The Resistance whose main objective is to help Ladybug and Cat Noir fight Monarch from the backstage. Its first mission was to determine how Monarch is giving the Miraculous superpowers to the akumatized villains without giving them the Miraculous themselves. The plan is seemingly a success to them, but in reality, it was a failure because of Monarch's illusion of a fake akumatization and superpower transference.
          • Besides him, the ones to compose the Resistance are: Alya, Adrien, Marinette, Kim, Max, Ivan, Mylène, Rose, Juleka and Lila.
            • Gabriel is invited by Nino to be an honorary member of the Resistance, without realizing he is Monarch.
        • In this episode, Monarch uses the powers of the Bee, the Mouse and the Rooster Miraculouses in his new form for the first time.
        • It is revealed that before Emilie was missing, Adrien and his father were very close and after that, Gabriel started to work non-stop and not letting himself spend some time with his son.
        • In this episode, Adrien tells his father that he doesn't feel comfortable knowing that his image is everywhere on everyone's alliance ring, the conversation ends with Adrien taking off his Alliance ring and never using it again.
        • Gabriel is trying to actually be a good father for the first time in a long time or at least to convince Nathalie he is not a bad person.
          • That is starting to change from the events of Transmission and onwards.
      • "Determination" - Véronique is akumatized into Manipula because of Mayor Bourgeois not allowing her to release some statues to the public (all because of Chloé despising Ladybug and hating that she and her team are seen as heroes after her failure to prevent Monarch from getting the Miraculous) and is allowed to use the power of Determination, Resistance.
        • This episode shows a big change in the relationship between Marinette and Adrien, along with their respective superhero personas, as the feelings between each other evolved and changed.
          • Picking up from her decision in "Multiplication", Marinette tries to move on from her feelings for Adrien. Meanwhile, Adrien has started to realize his feelings for Marinette, which are revealed that have been developing ever since "The Puppeteer 2", when Marinette kissed him thinking that he was a wax statue.
          • Ladybug has started to develop feelings for Cat Noir, while the latter tells her that he has finally moved on from his feelings for her and realized who he truly loves.
          • In this episode, we can say that the love square has been "reversed" with Marinette renouncing her love for Adrien and falling for Cat Noir while Adrien has officially fell for Marinette.
            • Despite all of that, they both don't know that they are in love with the same person.
        • It's revealed that the power of Determination, Resistance, does not protect the user from indirect attacks, like the ones resulted from a chain reaction.
      • "Passion" - Because of her own will, Nathalie is akumatized into a new supervillain named Safari and allowed to use the power of the Goat Miraculous, Genesis.
        • Because Safari is able to locate the location of Ladybug and Cat Noir and have her projectiles follow them, Marinette and Adrien get their Miraculouses swapped again, leading to the return of Lady Noire and Mister Bug since "Reflekdoll".
        • It is revealed that Nathalie used to search for ancient treasures with Gabriel and Emilie and that she will do anything to prevent Gabriel's crazy dream from becoming reality, even if that means getting Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous and use their combined power before him.
        • It is also revealed that Emilie left some videos to Nathalie before her passing, one of them noted "It won't be easy stopping Gabriel from his obsession with the Miraculouses".
        • From now on, Nathalie will stay at the Agreste mansion just because she wants Adrien to be happy.
          • This is confirmed because of one of Emilie's messages, telling Nathalie that she needs to replace her as a mother-role for Adrien in case she was no longer there.
          • Adrien is also the reason why Nathalie returns to help Gabriel as Monarch again after declaring otherwise in "Evolution", as the absolute power is the only way to prevent him from being alone, due to both hers and Gabriel's terminal conditions caused by the use of the damaged Peacock Miraculous and Cat Noir's Cataclysm, respectively.
        • In this episode, we also get to take a look at the Agreste's kitchen for the first time in the series.
          • Despite the kitchen being present in the episode "Illusion" which is 5th in the chronological order compared to Passion being 7th, it still remains the first appearance in the series since "Passion" aired before "Illusion".
        • For some reason, it is impossible to transfer more than 6 miraculous powers to an alliance ring at the same time.
      • "Reunion" - Because of Alix's absence, Jalil is re-akumatized into The Pharaoh and is given the power of the Turtle Miraculous, Shell-ter.
        • It is revealed that, with the Kwagatama, it is possible to communicate with past Miraculous Holders but only the current owner of the Miraculous can see and talk to them.
        • When Marinette asked Jeanne d'Arc about her past love with a past Cat Miraculous Holder, she reveals that they used to fight to honor their respecting monarchs, and when they realized about the horror their kings wanted them to do, they fell in love with each other and after renouncing their Miraculouses, they both left their kingdoms.
          • It was also revealed that this communication with the past holders is restricted to their memories as holders and they are not aware of what happened when they were no longer holders.
            • This means that Jeanne didn't remember what happened when she renounced her Miraculous.
        • There is a closer look to the Alliance rings from Jalil's perspective, allowing him to access any type of social media.
          • It's also revealed that, despite the public is generally supportive of Ladybug, there are many who have a negative opinion of her, including having a form where they thrash her and Cat Noir and even theorize that Monarch is actually a misunderstood hero.
        • Adrien also receives a kwagatama from Plagg.
        • Alix is also revealed to possess a kwagatama as well.
      • "Elation" - Because of Marinette being with Cat Noir, André is re-akumatized into Glaciator and is given the power of the Tiger Miraculous, Clout.
        • Thanks to André, Cat Noir is finally aware that Marinette is in love with Adrien, despite that, he thinks she doesn't have feelings for Adrien anymore but just for his hero alter ego. He, as Adrien, gets determined to reconquer her love again.
        • Marinette and Cat Noir kiss for the first time because of their embarrassment in front of Andrè. This kiss is the first not to be forgotten by one or both of them or be erased from existence.
          • After the kiss, Cat Noir panics, backs off, and tells Marinette that he shouldn't have kissed her because she doesn't know who is behind the mask and thought that he was taking advantage of the fact Marinette was a fan of his.
            • This big misunderstanding leads to Marinette almost be akumatized for the second time since "Ladybug", this time into Unmasker, but is convinced by Cat Noir to resist, and when she looks like that she was about to give in, he impulsively kisses her again, making Marinette's anger subside, stopping her transformation.
            • Reeling from her near akumatization, Marinette starts to understand that being with Cat Noir is not a good idea.
        • The Magical Charm given to Andrè from "Glaciator 2" is destroyed, but after his de-akumatization, he is given a new one.
        • Gabriel is aware that Cat Noir is in love with Marinette Dupain-Cheng and he will exploit this knowledge to get to Ladybug and defeat her.
        • Over time, it's revealed that the injuries inflicted with a Cataclysm that aren't healed by the power of Miraculous Ladybug will get worse.
      • "Transmission" - When the duty of being heroes is too much for Adrien and Marinette to the point of them costing their love, Tikki and Plagg, with caring, but heavy, hearts, take back their jewels freeing them so their owners could have a chance at being together.
        • Alya uses the Ladybug Miraculous again, leading to Scarabella's return after "Hack-San". Also, Zoé receives the Cat Miraculous and becomes Kitty Noire.
        • Adrien and Lila are no longer friends.
        • It's only been nine months since Marinette, Adrien and Gabriel had their Miraculouses.
        • Gabriel knows that Alya and Zoe are Scarabella and Kitty Noire.
          • Zoe becomes the second female to use the Cat Miraculous, succeeding her leader, Ladybug.
      • "Deflagration" - Monarch uses the powers of the Bee, Mouse, Rooster, Ox and Horse Miraculouses in an attempt to take the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses from Alya and Zoé.
        • Monarch unifies the Butterfly and Ladybug Miraculouses, becoming Monarch Bug.
        • Plagg cataclysms his Miraculous.
        • He and Tikki both use their versions of the Miraculous superpowers both creating a calamity of creation and destruction.
          • When Tikki uses her powers in calmness, it's similar to her holders creating any random object she needs, but for every intended object, multiple random ones will appear as well while Plagg's Cataclysm is continuous when used.
        • This is the first time The Resistance group squares off against Monarch.
        • Marinette and Adrien know that Monarch destroyed the original forms of the stolen Miraculouses and turned them into rings.
        • Gabriel becomes the third male to wield the Ladybug Miraculous, succeeding Micazoyolin and Adrien.
      • "Perfection" - Kagami is akumatized into a new supervillain named Ryukomori and allowed to use the power of the Dragon Miraculous.
        • Kagami is revealed to have a friendship with Lila, who is taking advantage of that to turn her against Marinette. This is a following of the threat she had made to Marinette in "Chameleon", where she would make sure that she would end up alone and without any friends.
          • It's shown that Lila has started to stalk Marinette and collect any piece of information about her relationships, even having photographs of Marinette with her many friends, cutting her face from them.
        • It's revealed that Gabriel, in the past, has threatened Tomoe's dream, becoming in this way in debt to her.
      • "Migration" - Bob Roth is akumatized into Gold Record and was allowed to use the power of the Horse Miraculous.
        • Luka was almost re-akumatized into Silencer by Monarch, but he resists and rejects it.
          • Monarch discovers that Luka knows the identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
        • Marinette and Adrien find out that Luka knows their secret identities.
        • At the end of the episode, Luka leaves Paris with Jagged and Penny temporarily to prevent Monarch from finding out Ladybug and Cat Noir's secret identities.
      • "Derision" - Kim is akumatized into a new version of Dark Cupid, Dark Humor, and is allowed to used the power of the Monkey Miraculous.
        • This episode explores Marinette's past and reveals Chloé's reason behind her stalker behavior.
        • It is revealed that Marinette used to have feelings for Kim, and that Socqueline has been protecting Marinette from Chloé.
        • After learning of her severe past bullying of Marinette, including the cruel prank she tricked Kim into playing on her, and seeing her express no regret or remorse for her actions and refuse to apologize, Adrien officially ends his friendship with Chloé.
      • "Intuition" - Thanks to Monarch manipulating A.D.A's sensors into thinking she lost her pilot, the A.I spacecraft is akumatized into Bugfighter as apart of Monarch's complicated plan to catch Ladybug and Cat Noir.
        • Prior to this, it's revealed that Monarch has been using the power of Second Chance in many of his battles behind the scenes against Ladybug and Cat Noir, but every time, he failed because of Ladybug's cunning and Cat Noir's unpredictability.
        • More about the Snake Miraculous is revealed: after Monarch destroyed the safety lock, instead of reverting his injury, he speed it up, causing his condition to reach his heart.
        • Because of his desperation, he continuously used Second Chance in a situation that he couldn't win, making him relive it in constant failure, and by the time his body gave out and knowing of the jewel's power, Gabriel realized that now he's stuck with power, he can't use or give away meaning that he has one less power he can't use against the heroes.
      • "Protection" - Kagami is re-akumatized into a new version of Riposte and is allowed to used the power of the Turtle Miraculous.

        • Zoé had a surprised crush on Marinette since they first met in "Sole Crusher", but it wasn't until now that Zoé admitted her feelings to her. Despite Marinette being touched, Zoé understood her feelings for Adrien.
        • Inspired by Zoé admitting her feelings, Marinette finally tells Adrien that she loves him.
      • "Emotion" - Félix uses the Peacock Miraculous for the first time, turning into Argos, a peacock-themed Miraculous holder.
        • Marinette has stopped stalking Adrien, as she was unaware of the Diamonds' Dance.
        • It's revealed that the reason why Félix wanted the Peacock Miraculous was to serve as a tool for him to get Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses so he can get his wish granted: to create a world without oppressors.
          • Also, he wanted the Peacock Miraculous so that, even if Ladybug and Cat Noir refused to give him their Miraculouses, he would use its power (through the Red Moon) to transform the world to befit his vision.
        • This is the first time Ladybug didn't get a Lucky Charm without having any interference (similar to "Sandboy"). The reason for this is that there was nothing she could do to stop Argos, as he was the only one that could end his plan.
          • Because Argos needed to see the real outcome his world created for him, his cousin and Kagami, it caused him to upset those he cared about, what would've happened under the possibility he couldn't fully control his powers and realized how similar he was acting to his predecessors. He abdicated of his plan, bringing everyone he had made disappear back and regretfully released Red Moon from reality.
        • This is the first time Ladybug becomes temporarily deceased instead of (and/or along with) her partner.
        • Gabriel will not let Adrien to see Marinette ever again.

        • Lila convinces almost all of Marinette's friends and all of Paris into thinking she is Monarch.
        • Unknown to Gabriel, during Lila's rampage as Hoaxer, she obtains all his secrets using Nathalie in her control.
        • Lila has three mothers and has different identities.
          • Her first mother, Mrs. Rossi, is an Italian Ambassador.
          • Her second mother Mrs. Bianca works for Style Queen magazine.
          • Her third mother is deaf and mute.
        • Alya makes her private return as Scarabella to assist Marinette in defeating Hoaxer.
        • In the post-credit scene, Lila's true intentions are shown.
      • "Confrontation" - Juleka is re-akumatized into Reflekta and is given the power of the Tiger Miraculous, Clout.
        • A new hidden Magical Charm ability is introduced when Denis Damocles' Magical Charm transforms into a larger version of the charm, which acts as a shield capable of purifying Megakumas.
        • It's revealed that Lila has been hiding a secret identity to everyone using a wig: she is part of a different class in another school under the name Cerise Bianca as the class representative, and is living under the lie that she is a movie star. She is forced to embrace that identity full-time after her true nature is exposed, forcing her to leave Collège Françoise Dupont for good.
        • Lila decides to dismantle Adrien's relationship with Marinette and decides to break them up as revenge and win him back like in Season 1-3 by using Sabrina to write a fake form to make it worse.
        • After helping Marinette expose Chloé and Lila's conspiracy to everyone, Sabrina's friendship with the former officially ends permanently, thus leaving Chloé's completely friendless.
        • Denis Damocles is forced to resign from his job after going against Mayor Bourgeois to undo the damage Chloé and Lila have done and protect all the other students' futures.
      • "Action" - Bertrand King is akumatized into a new villain named King of Plastic and allowed to use the power of the Bee Miraculous, Venom.

        • Olga Mendeleiev (who is revealed to be named Olga) became the principal of Françoise Dupont and is almost convinced to expel Marinette due to Chloé's manipulation.
          • When that doesn't work, Chloé forces Olga to fire Caline as the teacher.
        • Another use of the Lucky Charm object is revealed, where the object can be used to solve more than one problem or warn its user and friends of a bigger problem.
        • André resigns as mayor of Paris to return in the film industry and Chloé is convinced by Cerise to become mayor herself.
          • In the post-end card scene, Ladybug, Cat Noir and Monarch are officially outlawed by Chloé.
      • "Revolution" - Chloé is akumatized into a new villain named Queen Mayor.
        • Chloé puts Paris under her tyranny or her term of "Chloé's Law".
          • In akumatizing Chloé and making her appear normal, she was put under heroes radar, allowing her to act as she pleased by the time the duo did intervene they were put into a trap.
        • A new effect of Resistance and, by extension, a new weakness of Lucky Charm, is revealed: if a Lucky Charm is touched by the effect of Resistance, then the Lucky Charm will disintegrate.
        • Ladybug and Cat Noir, due to them using their powers and being trapped in Miraculous powered proof cages, were about to de-transform back with all of Paris, including their enemies, watching them.
          • But unlike all the other times, their de-transformations are significantly slower, making the heroes realize that they can resist. They then inspire the people with their seemingly final words, that they can fight against Chloé's rule. The Resistance, along with the other Parisians, fight back, inspiring Ladybug and Cat Noir to unlock the adult version of their powers, and together, they successfully de-akumatize Chloé and overthrow her as Mayor.
        • Ms. Bustier runs for election to become Mayor of Paris.
        • André exiles Audrey and Chloé to London, where Audrey vows to take control of Chloé's life and education.
        • Gabriel forcefully sends Adrien to London, but Marinette and Adrien kiss right before they are forced apart.
        • Chloé tries one last time to make Marinette suffer by telling her that Adrien is leaving, but Marinette stands up to her, shattering Chloé's ego, pride and spirit, and leaving her in tears crying over her fate.
      • "Representation" - Gabriel akumatizes himself into a new version of The Collector, Nightormentor.
        • Gabriel is revealed to keep Adrien on a bedroom with security cameras in London, and so as Tomoe with Kagami.
        • Kagami is revealed to know about Marinette's secret identity as Ladybug and her duty of guardian, since a conversation between Marinette and Alya had in "Perfection", that Kagami overheard.
        • Argos takes Kagami away from her bedroom, and they both depart to Paris, with the objective to tell the truth about Monarch, he and Adrien to Marinette.
          • With so, Kagami allows him to amokize her ring, manifesting the sentimonster, Once Upon a Time.
        • It is revealed that:
          • Colt Fathom and Amelie Graham de Vanily used the Peacock Miraculous to create Félix.
          • Gabriel and Emilie Agreste used the Peacock Miraculous to create Adrien.
        • In the end, Gabriel and Tomoe trap their children in solitary in order to keep them under their authority.
      • "Conformation" - Gabriel akumatizes himself into Nightormentor again and gives himself the powers of the Mouse, Horse and Rooster Miraculouses to make everyone in the world live their deepest nightmares.
        • The operation "Perfect Alliance" idealized by Gabriel Agreste and Tomoe Tsurugi is launched in these episodes, and it consists of making every person in the world under the mercy of Nightormentor's powers and creating an "antidote" app on the alliance rings in order to calm the victims, and then manipulate them into thinking Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapped Adrien and Kagami.
          • While launching the operation, Gabriel and Tomoe didn't know that Adrien and Cat Noir were the same person, so the idea of Cat Noir kidnapping Adrien wouldn't make any sense with the fact of Adrien and Cat Noir being the same person.
        • Marinette learns that Gabriel is Monarch, and while talking to Nathalie, learns about her and Emilie using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged.
        • Gabriel finds out that Marinette is Ladybug, and immediately after, Marinette unifies the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, becoming Bug Noire.
      • "Re-creation" - Gabriel obtains the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses to make his wish, and Tikki and Plagg reveal their gigantic forms and fuse together into Gimmi, the Kwami of Reality.

    • Ladybug's is seen in "Multiplication", "Illusion", "Reunion" and "Action".

      • This makes "Multiplication", "Illusion" and "Action" the only episodes in which both transformation sequences are seen.
      • This also marks the first season in which neither of the transformation sequences are seen with a sad expression.
  • 12 episodes feature a Miraculous holder other than Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Monarch.
