Resistance is the special superpower granted by the Ox Miraculous to its owner.
Description[]
This superpower allows the user to make themself impervious to other people's superpowers. It is activated by the user speaking its name.
Miraculous Owner[]
Once activated, the Ox Miraculous owner briefly glows with a ripple of blue energy, and gains the ability to effortlessly withstand any superpower-based attack without damage and go unaffected by any superpowers used against them. If the opponent(s) attack(s) the user directly, they will be knocked back, if the Ox Miraculous holder is trying to counter or deflect them, as seen in "Penalteam". Even if the user willingly subjects themselves to their opponent's power, they will not be harmed as long as Resistance is active.
When the user is hit with a superpower and Resistance cancels it out, that same blue glow will briefly reappear in a ripple pattern on whatever part of the users body was struck. Notably, even if Resistance stops a power from being effective, the enemy superpower will still count as having been used up. For example, if the user is hit by the Cataclysm, even though Resistance would cancel out the effect, the destructive energy would still cease to function, as the power has already been used to hit something.

It is revealed in "Revolution" that the effect of Resistance depends on the nature of the superpower that is used against it. If the power takes the form of an ability within one's own body, such as the Cataclysm, then the superpower will simply not have any effect. Alternatively, if the power takes the form of an external object or entity, such as the Lucky Charm, then the created object will disappear once it comes into contact with Resistance.
If the magical object takes the form of a weapon used directly on the user of Resistance, then the power will simply protect the user from being harm by the object, as seen in "Miraculous Paris", when Monarch used the power to protect himself from being harmed by Shadybug's Lucky Charm sword.
Resistance nullifying Cataclysm.
Resistance will even make the user impervious to the Cataclysm, a very impressive feat as even Shell-ter, a power born from the concept of Protection, was broken through by the Cataclysm in only a single hit. Furthermore, as seen in "Deflagration", the user is even impervious to powers used directly by the Kwamis, which are far too powerful and uncontrolled, potentially city destroying.
Notably, as seen in "Transmission", if the user of Resistance also has the Turtle Miraculous superpower, Shell-ter, then the two powers can be combined to make the barrier impervious to superpowers, effectively making it truly impenetrable.
Stompp[]
The effects of Stompp's Resistance is unknown, but it would most certainly be unconstrained and results in some kind of catastrophe, though he would be able to restrain it somewhat.
Weaknesses[]
Manipula crushed by a fallen chandelier.
It's revealed in "Determination" that Resistance does not actually make the user truly invincible; despite making the user impervious to any superpowers used against them, it does not actually grant the power of invulnerability. It cannot protect the user against anything that is not a superpower; after using the power of Sublimation to turn himself invisible, Resistance did nothing to protect Monarch from the inactive members of the French Miraculous superhero team splattering him with condiments so that he could be seen. The user can also be harmed by external circumstances; they would still get crushed if a large, heavy object fell on top of them, and they would still fall if a big hole opened underneath them. Even if these external circumstance were the result of a superpower, or a chain reaction set off by a superpower, the user of Resistance would still be vulnerable to them.

In addition, Ladybug successfully wrapped her Yo-yo string around Monarch, and the inactive superheroes dog piled on top of him. These events demonstrate that while the user of Resistance can't be affected by superpowers, they can still be restrained, even if the restraint is magical.
Monarch unharmed by Cataclysm, but it still destroys everything around him.
In "Deflagration", it is shown that the power of Resistance protects the user and nothing else; while the user's own body is made impervious to superpowers, their surroundings aren't protected. Even if the user is a buffer between the power and the ground, if the power is on a large enough scale, it will still inflict damage on the user's surroundings. When Plagg cataclysmed his own Miraculous, the wearer himself was unaffected, but the uncontrollable destruction still made a giant dark crater in the ground beneath him and spread across Paris.
The Cat Miraculous not protected because put it on after the power was activated.
It is also revealed in "Deflagration" that while Resistance can protect anything the user is wearing or in possession of, it can only do so if they already had it on their person when the power was activated. Alternatively, if the user already has the power activated and then puts on or holds an object, the object in question won't be protected by Resistance. This was shown when Monarch put on the Cat Miraculous after he activated the power, which means that the ring wasn't impervious to superpowers, enabling Plagg to use his Cataclysm directly on it without the power of destruction being nullified.
When Second Chance is used, Resistance cannot protect the user and their memories of the previous timeline being erased.
Despite Resistance allowing its user to become immune to superpowers, it is still affected by the effects of Uproar, which can disrupt any superpower it comes in contact with.[1]
In "Miraculous Paris", it is revealed that using the special superpower uses vital energy from the Kwami, but also from the miraculous holder. It's one thing for an adult holder, but for an underage holder, who is less physically and mentally capable of handling the strain, there is a security system in place that limits them to only using their special power once and causes them to detransform before it becomes dangerous. However, using the Miraculous for evil overrides the limiter, allowing an underage holder to use their powers to their full potential. As previously stated, a younger holder cannot handle the strain; dark veins of corruption will gradually spread across their body, and they will inevitably be destroyed.

Trivia[]
- This is the second power to be used for protection, following Shell-ter.
- This power is commonly referred to as the power of Invulnerability. However this is inaccurate, since it only makes the user invulnerable to superpowers.
- Resistance perfectly matches Ivan as the Ox Miraculous holder, as his akumatized form Stoneheart was impervious to attacks.
- However, Stoneheart is impervious to physical attacks, while Minotaurox is impervious to magical attacks.
- According to Thomas Astruc, Resistance works against any superpower, meaning not just the Miraculous superpowers.[2]
- It's unknown if it would work against the time-rewinding powers of Second Chance, allowing the user to retain his memories after the power was used. If it would work against it, it's unknown if Resistance would be needed to be actived before Second Chance's activation or before the time being rewinded.
- In "Re-creation" when Bug Noire's Lucky Charms came into contact with Monarch, who was using the power of Resistance, the Lucky Charms were not disintegrated like they were in "Revolution".
- It cannot be assumed that he did not activate the power until late into the fight, as when Monarch used Resistance against Shadybug's Lucky Charm, her weapon did not disappear upon contact.
- However, since he believed that Ladybug only had her Miraculous at the time, he thought that he wouldn't need to use Resistance against her at the time. This would explain why he didn't activate the power until she tried to use Cataclysm on the Butterfly Miraculous.
- Every time Resistance was used during season 5, its activation sequence was never seen.
