“ | After the wish, all I could find was the double wedding ring along with the Miraculouses that Monarch had turned them into rings and Cat Noir's and mine. I transformed into Aqua Bug and searched the basement but nothing. Even after repairing everything, it is as if the brooch had disappeared. But whatever happens, we'll be ready. When Monarch seized my yo-yo, he suddenly gained access to the Miraculouses all at once. This can never happen again, which is why I'll remain the Guardian but only to support and help my fellow heroes. From now on, each holder will be responsible for their Miraculous and their kwami. To be ensured that power will be used for the greater good, it needs to be shared. | ” |
—Marinette Dupain-Cheng, "Re-creation" |

Synopsis
Monarch’s ultimate plan is in motion. Nothing seems able to stop him now. Especially considering that, while the world descends into chaos, the supervillain has just trapped Ladybug in person...
Disney+
Ladybug faces Monarch.
Plot
The episode starts with Cerise Bianca watching Alec's reality TV show "Live Your Childhood Dream" on her smartphone. However, Alec begins suffering from a nightmare of his dad cutting all of his hair. She then switches to Nadja Chamack reporting on the emergence of the Miraculized villains. Cerise puts her phone down, puts on blue contact lenses, a black bob cut wig and glasses, changes into a pink shirt, blue jeans and black jacket, takes Tomoe Tsurugi's laptop, gets on her bicycle and rides to the Agreste mansion.
Meanwhile, Bug Noire battles Monarch, the former comments that whatever happens, that it's the end this time, as the latter comments about how he should've known that Marinette was Ladybug all along and how he nearly akumatized her in "Ladybug", Elation", and "Derision". Bug Noire summons a Lucky Charm grand piano to crush Monarch, then sends him flying through the mansion with her staff, before creating another Lucky Charm in the form of handcuffs.
Around the Liberty, as civilians turn into the Miraculized, Ivan fights off his friends while the Resistance try to restrain him. Rose tackles him down, allowing Nino to grab Ivan's ring and destroy it. Ivan returns to normal and panics over his nightmare of Mylène leaving for polar bears before she and the others calm him down with a hug.
At the Thousand Delights restaurant, Wang Cheng fights some of the Miraculized, while Fei is in the bathroom panicking as the Renlings assure her that she is worthy of the Prodigious. Wang then has a nightmare of his restaurant being a fast food place. Fei notices this and transforms into Lady Monkey and takes the rings off the people and turns them back to normal.
In Rio, the Order of the Guardians, including Su-Han, Penny, Jagged Stone, and Luka are fighting off more Miraculized and Su-Han has a nightmare of him not understanding the modern society. Luka reassures him not to let the nightmares get to him, just before present Bunnyx tells Luka that their Mira Kung-Fu will be more helpful in Paris, so the others and Fang rush into the Burrow.
In New York City, even more Miraculized are attacking, using Sublimation to fly, but the United Heroez, such as Hot Dog Dan, Majestia, Knightowl, Eagle and Uncanny Valley, are able to fight them off. Majestia flies through to steal and crush the rings, and blows away some of the Miraculized, before she has a nightmare that she will never be able to solve all the world's problems. Knightowl reassures her that anyone can do it at her level. Eagle tells the superheroines to keep going, and if they figure out a solution, the heroes will win. Uncanny Valley analyzes the quantum imprints of the Alliance rings and discovers they carry some Miraculous powers, deducing that something occurred in Paris.
Back at the Agreste mansion, Bug Noire cuffs Monarch, stating that she'll take back all the Miraculouses, freeing the Kwamis and everything else he stole from her, but Monarch continuously uses Shell-ter to protect the rings and Venom to paralyze her. Though eventually, Bug Noire successfully cataclysms the shield and takes the Turtle Miraculous, but worries when Wayzz doesn't come out of it. Monarch, coughing up black ash, reveals that the Kwamis are trapped in his lair, claiming that he re-invented their magic, and intends to reconfigure the whole world upon accumulating the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power. He then tries to attack her from above using Voyage, but Bug Noire dodges, and summons a Lucky Charm baker's pan to knock back Monarch.
A Miraculized Denis Damocles is looking for Ladybug and Cat Noir, but Nino and Alya, disguised as boxes, land a surprised attack on their formal principal and free him from Monarch's grasp. Damocles says he had a nightmare of Monarch becoming the mayor of Paris. Elsewhere, a Miraculized Nora uses Clout and the United Heroez free her. Uncanny Valley and Majestia repair the building that Nora damaged, while Majestia agrees to search for Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Back at the mansion, Monarch uses Venom and Voyage against Bug Noire, but the latter quickly avades his surprise attack and sends him flying once again. Tying him with her Yo-yo, she repeats a phrase that he once told her, "life is like fashion and that people only have the illusion of choice", leaving Monarch shocked at how she knows his identity. Unbeknownst to him, Félix told Marinette the truth of his true identity. Bug Noire claims its luck, and attempts to use Cataclysm on the Butterfly Miraculous, but he uses Resistance to nullify it. Bug Noire then suffers from a nightmare, struggling to remain focus. Before Monarch can paralyze her with Venom, Bug Noire uses Cataclysm on the ground, sending them both into the Crypt.
The Resistance evade a Miraculized mob in the subway, but are eventually cornered, until Fang swipes them with his tail; Su-Han, Jagged, Penny & Luka arrive through Bunnyx's Burrow and fight off the Miraculized with Mira Kung-Fu. Juleka reunites with her brother and asks about how did he learned to fight; Luka states that it's a long story, with Su-Han adding that the reunion will have to wait. Jagged is then paralyzed by three Miraculized, whilst Penny gets hit by Clout. The United Heroez show up to help, and Doorman safely escorts the freed citizens to another location. Su-Han asks Knightowl on how does she resist the nightmares, and she claims she is the nightmare. Fei arrives, and, by transforming into Ladydragon, strikes bolts of lightning at the Miraculized to free more citizens. However, just as the heroes have freed the Parisians, more Miraculized teleport to attack them. Alya worringly asks where Ladybug is.
In the Crypt, Monarch commands Bug Noire to surrender her Miraculouses so he can make his wish, revealing Emilie's coffin as he explains his goal to waken his wife, while Adrien and Kagami become his new world's eternal icons. A shocked Bug Noire calls Monarch insane as he does not care how many lives he has to take away to reawaken Emilie and cure the fatal injury that Cat Noir inflicted on him.
Meanwhile, Zoé and Nathaniel try to protect a paralyzed Marc from more Miraculized. Knightowl manages to save them, but gets attacked by a Miraculized with Clout, sending her flying into the Roue de Paris. Then, many Miraculized teleport to and paralyze Ladydragon, sending her to the ground, whilst Luka suffers from a nightmare. Meanwhile, as Bug Noire and Monarch fight, they argue over Adrien, his whole life, coping with the loss of his mother, and how long Gabriel has constantly isolated him from the real world to the point of using him as an excuse to justify his madness. Simultaneously, Majestia looks down at Eagle, Nino, and Alya despairingly, revealing that she couldn't find Ladybug or Cat Noir. Alya tries to call Marinette but it keeps going to voice mail. Outside the mansion, Cerise uses Tsurugi's laptop to hack into the mansion security and enters, witnessing the fight in the basement.
As Monarch insists on wanting Adrien to be happy, Bug Noir summons another Lucky Charm in the form of piece of glue while devising a plan to force Monarch on the defensive; by gluing a boomerang and launching it at Emilie's coffin. Monarch teleports to grab it, but it gets stuck to his hand, allowing Bug Noire to steal half of his rings with her yo-yo; she then uses Cataclysm to send the elevator plummeting down, forcing Monarch to hold it using his cane. Bug Noire then throws her staff at the Butterfly Miraculous, putting an end to Monarch for good as the Miraculous falls into the water. As Gabriel commands Nooroo to retrieve the brooch, Bug Noire pulls him towards her with her yo-yo, claiming that Nooroo will obey the next Butterfly Miraculous holder that she will choose personally.
Gabriel attempts to use Venom, but Bug Noire blocks it while intending to render Gabriel powerless and restore the chaos before sending Plagg back to his owner. But remembering that Gabriel and Nathalie only have a little time left to live, Bug Noire has the former watch Emilie's video message of wanting the best for Adrien. This causes Gabriel to break down, admitting her slumber destroyed him while mentioning his only happy memory of Emilie's smile the day Adrien was born, but he comprehended the circumstances of Adrien's birth when Emilie became ill. Bug Noire states that Adrien has learned to live through that tragedy, explaining to Gabriel that using the her Miraculouses' power has a price that wouldn't solve anything. She assures Gabriel that they can find another solution together, reverting back to Marinette. Tikki and Plagg warn Marinette not to trust Gabriel, just as he uses Venom on her while her guard is down.
Taking the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, Gabriel commands Tikki and Plagg to reveal their true forms before unifying them to summon Gimmi, the Kwami of Reality. Gabriel removes his remaining rings and frees Marinette from her paralyzation as he tells Gimmi he wants to make a wish to their dismay. With Marinette unable to interfere as she begs Gabriel not to proceed, he asks her not to reveal the truth to Adrien and instead to remind his son of the times he tried to be a good father. After Gabriel tells them to read his heart to know his wish and then read his soul to know what he intends to sacrifice, Gimmi grants his wish. Gabriel discards the Miraculouses and the wedding rings while embracing Emilie. Marinette covers her eyes as the resulting explosion destroys the entire universe in a bright light as it is re-created.
One month later, Adrien is awakened from his nap by a kiss from Marinette. The Resistance, Sabrina, Su-Han, Jagged, Penny, Luka, Kagami and Félix are all having a pool party at the Agreste mansion, which is covered in beautiful greenery during a sunny day. Placide offers Amelie[5] and Nathalie (who is alive and well) a drink, and a news broadcast begins as Alec, on his new programme "Nouveau Monde", has a new exclusive interview with Caline Bustier, who is the new elected mayoress of Paris, and her newborn daughter Harmonie. Mayoress Bustier says that Paris will be eco-friendly under her "Eco Rule". She then unveils a statue of Gabriel Agreste, which was created by melting and reforging the Alliance rings for who is said to have sacrificed himself to save Paris, while Tomoe will be taking over the Agreste brand. The Mayoress also plans to open a new high school, that will allow its students to learn any subject at any time. After everyone leaves, Marinette asks Adrien if he is not going to wear his parents' rings, which Ladybug gave him while honoring Gabriel's final request. Adrien admits not knowing if he will be like his father, but Marinette tells him to be himself as they embrace and kiss.
A few weeks later in August, Nadja reports on the news states that summer break will end and the next school year will begin very soon. Meanwhile, in Marinette's room, she is working on creating the mini miracle boxes with the recovered Miraculous spellbook while Alya and Su-Han watch over her. The Kwamis are happy to have all their respective Miraculous back to normal, although Marinette wasn't able to find Nooroo and the Butterfly Miraculous. However, she declares that whatever happens, they will be prepared to face any future threats.
Marinette recalls her mistake of keeping all the Miraculouses in one place during Season 4 and, considering that she lost all of them when her yo-yo was stolen by Flairmidable and Gabriel at the end of "Strikeback", decides to entrust the current members of French Miraculous superhero team with their respective Miraculous and kwami on a permanent basis, as "in order to ensure power is only used for the greater good, it needs to be shared." Ladybug meets up with Cat Noir on a rooftop as they are joined by Team Miraculous, and the new addition of Argos, as they jump off into another adventure.
Later, Mr. Damocles sets up his new office as the high school principal when he receives a call from an anonymous source inquiring of attending the school and Damocles agrees to see the new student later. Cerise Bianca, contacting the principal from the Catacombs of La Plage, closes her computer and puts the Butterfly Miraculous on while looking forward to meeting Marinette again in the next school year. She is caught off guard when a flash of lightning suddenly appears behind her as the scene cuts to black, ending Season 5 on a cliffhanger and leaving her fate unknown.

Trivia
- Internationally, this episode first premiered in Switzerland on RTS Un, alongside the previous episode; "Conformation".
- This is the ninth season 5 episode that is not named after the concept of a Miraculous.
- However, the name is similar to the name of the power of the Ladybug Miraculous.
- The title being spelled as "Re-creation" implies this, as the word without a hyphen means "exercise".
- The concept of re-creation is applied in some instances:
- Gabriel summoned the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power to have his wish granted, what causes the world to be destroyed and then re-created based on that wish.
- After Miss Bustier becomes the mayor of Paris, she starts to remold the entire city to become a much more eco-friendly place, creating suspended gardens, reducing the CO2 emission by implanting a system of airship taxis to replace cars, cleaning the Seine, etc.
- All the Alliance rings (at least the ones in Paris) had been melted and remodeled into a statue of Gabriel Agreste.
- Marinette is able to recover all the Chinese Zodiac Miraculous and reforge them back into their original forms.
- With the return of the Miraculous to her ownership, Marinette, as Ladybug, is able to recover her entire team, with Argos also joining as the Peacock Miraculous holder.
- Monarch remade the Miraculouses so only he, the akumatized, and the Miraculized can use them, therefore remaking their magic.
- However, the name is similar to the name of the power of the Ladybug Miraculous.
- This, "Volpina" and "Shadow Moth's Final Attack" are the only season finales where Chloé Bourgeois isn't an Akumatized supervillain.
- This is the twenty-second time where Adrien is a minor character in the permanent timeline, following "Style Queen", "Cat Blanc", "Truth", "Gang of Secrets", "Mr. Pigeon 72", "Furious Fu", "Sole Crusher", "Guiltrip", "Crocoduel", "Optigami", "Sentibubbler", "Qilin", "Dearest Family", "Ephemeral", "Penalteam", "Destruction", "Intuition", "Adoration", "Emotion", "Pretension", and "Conformation".
- This is the final episode of the Agreste family arc, which is the ending of the first story arcs of the Miraculous saga, which began all the way back with the very first episode of the show, "Stormy Weather", in the production order.
- However, "Ladybug & Cat Noir" and "Stoneheart" make up the first and second episodes, and are to be set entirely before the events of "Stormy Weather" as the third episode, which is a prequel to the other episodes the series in chronological order.
- This episode is followed by "Action" in production, though that episode takes place after "Confrontation" and before "Collusion" in the chronological order.
- During the beginning of their fight, Monarch references how many times he was close to akumatizing Marinette/Ladybug, but never fully succeeded, in which all these attempts have occurred in "Zombizou", "Mayura", "Chameleon", "Ladybug", "Elation", and "Derision".
- Monarch, back when he used to be Hawk Moth, tried to akumatize Marinette in "Cat Blanc", but those events took place during an alternative timeline.
- He also said that he couldn't do it because of her outrageous good luck, when actually, she described it as "Luck is something you make", meaning that the Ladybug Miraculous doesn't actually bless the user with good luck, but teaches the user to use their creativity, ingenuity, adaptability and more to make their own luck.
- In a way, Monarch was right, as Ladybug was blessed with luck but in a different way as she was more fortunate when it came to others as she always had friends and family to lookout and support her, while Gabriel pushed everyone away.
- This episode surpasses the number of times Ladybug has summoned her Lucky Charm during a single transformation, with a total of four.
- This is the third time Cataclysm has been used six times in a single episode, following "Miraculer" and "Revolution".
- Tied with "Revolution", this episode takes the record for the most uses of Cataclysm by a Miraculous holder, with a total of six times, tying it with "Miraculer" and "Revolution" for the most uses in a single episode being second to "Cat Blanc".
- This is also the sixth time Cataclysm has been used by a hero other than Adrien, following "Reflekdoll", "Kwamibuster", "Gamer 2.0", "Passion", and "Transmission". However, this is the fifth time Cataclysm has been used by a heroine form of Marinette.
- As of this episode, Gabriel Agreste achieved the goal of acquiring the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Cat, but he makes a wish to heal Nathalie.
- With him finally being defeated and deceased, Cerise Bianca becomes the new holder of the Butterfly Miraculous as the new Hawk Moth.
- Cerise is the only one who hasn't been affected by the nightmare dust of Nightormentor due to hiding out in La Plage.
- Like in the previous episode, "Conformation", it's revealed what the nightmare instigated by Nightormentor is for some characters:
- Alec's nightmare is his dad cutting his hair.
- Wang's nightmare is that his restaurant being turned into a fast food outlet.
- Su-Han's nightmare is that he can't understand the modern society.
- Majestia's nightmare is that she can't able to save all the world's problems.
- Mr. Damocles' nightmare is that Monarch became the president of France.
- Fei's nightmare is being unworthy to wield the Prodigious.
- With the appearances of characters from "Miraculous New York" and "Miraculous Shanghai", this can be considered the first crossover episode of the main series.
- The reason "Jubilation" isn't counted as the first is because those characters only appeared in Ladybug and Cat Noir's dream while under the effects of Gift. But if the episode does count, then that makes "Re-creation" to be the second crossover episode.
- As of their dream in said episode, both of them came true as to where they retrieve the Miraculouses and the team while Ladybug and Cat Noir are in a relationship.
- It's revealed that sometime after Luka, Jagged, and Penny left Paris in "Migration", they began training Mira-kung fu with Su-Han in Brazil.
- Following Master Fu and Marinette, Luka is the third person to become a Guardian and Miraculous holder.
- Jagged is the first known member of the guardians to have a pet.
- Following Marinette, Penny is the second known member of the Guardians to be a woman.
- It's revealed that ever since the events of "Miraculous New York", Knightowl dons a new costume that shows off her feminine side.
- The mini Miraculous boxes have returned, ever since they were last seen in "Party Crasher".
- Ms. Bustier has been elected mayor of Paris and has given birth to her baby naming her Harmonie.
- This also marks the second time in the series Armand D'Argencourt has lost a Paris mayoral election, following "Darkblade".
- As of this episode, in regards to the Miraculous holders:
- After Marinette returns the Miraculouses back to their original forms, the temporary members of the French Miraculous superhero team that were recruited since season 2 have all received their Miraculous permanently. Marinette was also able to secure back the Grimoire.
- Due to Monarch no longer posing as a threat, Alya returns to her identity as Rena Rouge and no longer needs to make her presence secret to the team as Rena Furtive. Nino, Kim, Max, and Kagami are also able to use their Miraculous, even though Ladybug still trusted them despite Gabriel knowing who they were, especially Luka, who is able to return home, along with Jagged and Penny. Additionally, Alix is able to finally return to the present, keeping the Rabbit Miraculous permanently.
- Argos has also joined the team, totaling the member count to 18. The only Miraculous not present is the Butterfly, which is acquired by Cerise.
- In this episode, Cerise acquired the Butterfly Miraculous, setting her up as the main antagonist in Season 6.
- More information about the Miraculous superpowers is revealed while other facts are unknown:
- It's revealed that a Ladybug Miraculous holder with access to the jewel's full power can create as many Lucky Charms they want as long as they undo the current one.
- It's revealed that when an adult Ladybug Miraculous holder user summons a second Lucky Charm when one is still active, the energy of the first one will be recycled into the second.
- The Ladybug Miraculous holder can dismiss their Lucky Charm object from existence without calling on the Miraculous Ladybug (superpower).
- Another effect of Venom is revealed: if someone gets stung whilst flying, they immediately stop levitating and fall to the ground.
- It's revealed that despite being a sentimonster, Adrien was born and grew up like a normal boy. That is because, when he was manifested through the use of Amokization, he became a growing fetus inside his mother's womb, leading to him being born and growing like any other human being.
- It is revealed that Liberation can also nullify limitations that the target didn't put on themselves or are innate to them, and that were put in them through other means, even magical ones. Seen by Eagle is that even minor can affect multiple targets with their feathers with this in mind it could be that Eagle already had the mental maturity to access her adult powers or like the Rabbit may have another limitation.
- As of "Style Queen", the kwamis can use their powers in their spiritual and standard forms but it's unknown if they can use them in their true forms or what said versions would like.
- It's revealed that the Kwamis have giant, humanoid forms that can be revealed by saying "[kwami], reveal yourself!"
- Tikki's humanoid form was revealed in "Dearest Family", but only as a silhouette.
- Tikki and Plagg's true forms were clearly revealed in "Miraculous Paris", by Alternate Marinette when she commanded Alternate Tikki and Plagg to reveal themselves.
- Tikki and Plagg can also combine to form Gimmi, the kwami of Reality.
- When Gimmi is summoned, impenetrable barrier materializes around the summoner and the symbol of Order of the Guardians appears under the summoner.
- This is the first episode in which the Kwamis have been in Marinette's care since the season 4 finale.
- As of this episode and "Shadow Moth's Final Attack", some of the uncertainties discussed in "Timetagger" are partially revealed.
- Gabriel was successful in using the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses to make his wish come true, but he surrendered all the other jewels and sacrificed himself to make it happen, thus defeating Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch. This means that, by going in chronological order, this episode marks Gabriel's final appearance in the show.
- This is also Emilie's final apperance.
- This also clarifies on what the titular villain in "Timetagger" was referring to. And in the scene featuring Gabriel and Nathalie, in a way, both of them were right, as while Gabriel is no longer present in the world, Nathalie's prediction of him getting the absolute power was indeed correct.
- The Butterfly Miraculous was lost to both Hawk Moth and the heroes, falling into the hands of another evil individual, Cerise Bianca; however, in the future she kept it as an adult.
- The fate of the Peacock Miraculous and Duusu is answered with Félix as his new owner who joins Ladybug's team.
- The Miraculous spellbook was recovered by the heroes.
- Ladybug finally learns about the ultimate toll of using the Miraculouses when damaged from Nathalie in the former episode, but it's unknown if she told Cat Noir and the others or was informed of the real cure for the affliction.
- This is the thirtieth, thirty-first and thirty-second time where Ladybug's Lucky Charm is an object that appeared in a previous episode. This time, it is the tube of glue from "Style Queen" and the handcuffs from "Frightningale".
- Along with the tuba from "Befana", the harp from "Robostus" and the gong from "Desperada", even though with the piano they're all different, and all count as musical instruments.
- Overall, it would actually be the thirty-fourth, thirty-fifth and thirty-sixth that this has happened, if the vehicles from "Weredad", "Queen Banana", "Glaciator 2" and "Ephemeral" are included, due to the first vehicle appearing in "Sapotis".
- This is the fourteenth and fifteenth time a lucky charm object resembled an akumatized victim's object; in this cases, a pair of handcuffs of "Qilin" and baker's peel of "Simpleman".
- This is the eleventh time where a Lucky Charm object breaks (excluding the broken plate in "Troublemaker") followed by "Robostus", "Weredad", "Miraculer", "Psycomedian", "Hack-San", "Miraculous Paris", "Derision", "Protection", "Adoration" and "Revolution".
- As of this episode this is the ninth time where Ladybug doesn't catch her Lucky Charm object following "Robostus", "Weredad", "Oni-Chan", "Queen Banana", "Guiltrip", "Glaciator 2", "Ephemeral" and "Elation".
- This is the eighth time where the Lucky Charm object is huge following "Malediktator", "Weredad", "Queen Banana", "Glaciator 2", "Dearest Family", "Ephemeral" and "Elation".
- Along with the tuba from "Befana", the harp from "Robostus" and the gong from "Desperada", even though with the piano they're all different, and all count as musical instruments.
- Bug Noire's lucky charm piano falling on Monarch is a reference to an old classic cartoon gag.
- The move Bug Noire did with Cat Noir's staff is similar to the move Nino did in his fight against Anansi in the "aforementioned episode".
- The fact that Cat Noir, in this episode, has missed the battle, and only Ladybug has recovered the Miraculous, is contradicted by what he said in the final scene of the "Strikeback".
- This is the tenth time when the Miraculous Ladybug superpower wasn't used following "Ladybug and Cat Noir", "Catalyst", "Destruction", "Illusion", "Intuition", "Emotion", "Revolution", "Representation" and "Conformation".
- However, Ladybug had stated to everyone in Paris that she had used the Miraculous Ladybug to fix everything, but as she lied about Gabriel's sacrifice to defeat Monarch, it is unknown whether she actually used this superpower or if Gabriel's wish had already fixed the damage it caused.
- This is the nineteenth time where the Magical Charms don't appear since their introduction following "Sentibubbler", "Hack-San", "Ephemeral", "Kuro Neko", "Risk", "Evolution", "Destruction", "Illusion", "Passion", "Reunion", "Transmission", "Deflagration", "Intuition", "Emotion", "Revelation", "Collusion", "Revolution" and "Representation".
- This is the twenty-first episode that features a post-credit scene, following "Miracle Queen", "Gabriel Agreste", "Optigami", "Sentibubbler", "Dearest Family", "Multiplication", "Jubilation", "Illusion", "Transmission", "Perfection", "Derision", "Intuition", "Protection", "Emotion", "Pretension", "Revelation", "Confrontation", "Collusion", "Revolution" and "Representation".
- This is the twelfth not to feature Gabriel Agreste, following "Multiplication", "Jubilation", "Derision", "Intuition", "Protection", "Emotion", "Pretension", "Revelation", "Confrontation", "Collusion" and "Revolution".
- This is the seventh episode that partially takes place outside of Paris, after "Miraculous Shanghai", "Startrain", "Miraculous New York", "Multiplication", "Emotion" and "Representation".
- This episode begins directly after the events of "Conformation".
- "Conformation" and "Re-creation" join "Origins", "Volpina" and "The Collector", "Queen's Battle", "Heroes' Day", "The Battle of the Miraculous", "Truth" and "Lies", "Shadow Moth's Final Attack", "Evolution", along with "Multiplication" and "Destruction", "The Kwamis' Choice", "Collusion", "Revolution" and "Representation" as episodes that take place during the same day.
- This episode marks the third time Adrien and Marinette kiss each other in their civilian form and the second time they kiss as a couple.
- Technically speaking (and in the permanent timeline), this is the fifth time they kiss.
- Their first kiss was in "Dark Cupid", when Ladybug kissed Cat Noir to free him from the titular villain's influence.
- The second kiss was in "Oblivio", when Ladybug and Cat Noir kissed before the former went to repair the damages caused by the titular villain and the two heroes regain their memories and lose the ones they made during their amnesic state.
- The third kiss was in "The Puppeteer 2", where Marinette kisses Adrien, who was pretending to be a wax statue.
- The fourth kiss was in "Elation", where Marinette and Cat Noir share a kiss during the time they were "in love" for one another.
- Counting the alternate timeline in "Cat Blanc", where Adrien discovers Ladybug's identity and declares his feelings to Marinette and the dream Ladybug and Cat Noir had in "Jubilation", where they defeat Monarch and retrieve all the Miraculouses, and later both get married and form a family with children of their own, they have kissed eight times.
- The seventh kiss was when they had their real kiss as a couple in "Revolution".
- Technically speaking (and in the permanent timeline), this is the fifth time they kiss.
- This is the third time one or both of the main heroes are seen in the crypt, following "Cat Blanc" and "Ephemeral".
- However, this is the first time this has happened in the permanent timeline.
- The state of the Chinese Miracle Box differs as from the season 4 finale; the empty box represents fear and danger, but now it represents freedom, trust and understanding.
- In the event, if the Miracle Box, along with any remaining jewels, gets stolen after said holders had been chosen, they act as similar to another safety precaution preventing someone who is selfish or evil from getting them all therefore keeping hope alive.
- This is the last time in season 5 the Miraculous power-ups were used.
- When Tikki and Plagg revealed their true forms, their wings showed a great resemblance to the jet pack wings Ladybug and Cat Noir gained when in Space Mode, but it's unknown if the model for the jet packs gave inspiration for re-creating the kwamis true forms or the other way around.
- It's unknown how different the reality created by Gabriel's wish differs from the previous one. However, having in consideration how Nathalie was brought back by Gabriel and how Marinette still remembers the events before the use of the absolute power, it's possible that the only difference is the one thing that Gabriel wished for and the price he had to take. However, it's possible to see how the world changed in consequence of that wish:
- Everyone knows that Ladybug defeated Monarch and recovered all the Miraculous (except for the Butterfly), however, they don't know (and possibly will never know) who Monarch was, including Adrien/Cat Noir. That is because Marinette decided to honor Gabriel's wish of his son not knowing the villain he was.
- The only ones that appear to know who Monarch was are the ones that had previous knowledge of it: Nathalie, Tomoe Tsurugi, Félix, Lila, the kwamis of the Chinese Miracle Box, Kagami and Marinette. That also includes Amelie if Félix ever told her.
- It's most likely that Marinette told Master Su-Han and Alya about Monarch's identity, as she is seen telling them how she was not able to find the Butterfly Miraculous after the battle.
- Plagg, and by extension Tikki, are likely honoring Gabriel's wish of not telling Adrien for his sake, considering they, mostly the former, were shocked upon finding out Gabriel's identity and the reason he wanted to use their Miraculous, even if he wanted to tell him while also bypassing the curse that prevents revealing another holder's identity.
- Though it is unconfirmed, Plagg was likely informed of Adrien being a sentimonster, and if so, it would make sense for Plagg that Adrien has never able to stand up to his father.
- Everyone is led to believe that Monarch had hacked the Alliance system and that Gabriel helped Ladybug defeat him at the cost of his own life. Because of that, Gabriel is regarded as a hero and all the Alliance rings (at the least the ones from Paris) are melted and fused together to create a statue of Gabriel.
- Caline Bustier becomes the new mayor of Paris all while becoming a mother to a baby girl called Harmonie. As soon she became mayor, Miss Bustier started planning and implementing major changes to turn Paris into a much eco-friendly place and also a place where children will have more freedom to decide what they want to do later on.
- Regarding the changes she made/planned in light of environment are: suspended gardens at the rooftops, the implementation of self-sufficient energy production/consumption, the cleanse of the Seine river, effort to reduce CO2 emission by creating eco-friendly public transportation all over the city (like electric trams and airships).
- Regarding the changes she made/planned towards the children's future, she, along with the others, planned a special school that focused less on grades and more on teaching students on their own pace and help them find who they want to be later in life, while also incentivizing them to socialize with other children of a variety of ages and having many activities.
- The worldwide catastrophe caused by Monarch had caused people to become more aware of the impact they have on the planet.
- Gabriel's absence as the villain has created a void to be filled by a new evil possibly even more dangerous than him, with that one being none other than Cerise Bianca who was revealed as having the Butterfly Miraculous and is preparing her return with a new identity and enrolling on the same school as Marinette.
- Marinette mentions to Alya and Su-Han that she transformed into Aquabug to look for the Butterfly Miraculous in the crypt, marking the eighth time aqua power is used, following "Syren", "Mayura", "Miracle Queen", "Gang of Secrets", "Ephemeral", "Illusion" and "Determination".
- However, this is the second time a special power-up has been used off-screen, following "Stormy Weather 2".
- This is also the first time known person to have swam in the crypt's water, but it is unknown if Marinette was the first known person to swim there or if Cerise swam first when she stole the Butterfly Miraculous for herself.
- The end card of this episode is similar to the end card in "Mayura"; it has a rainbow (or colorful in general) background in triangular sections, with the heroes that appeared in the episode jumping out in a direction triumphantly.
- Cerise's laptop has the AZERTY keyboard layout, similarly to the heroes' phones on their tools.
- This is the third time Marinette was affected by Venom following "Passion" and "Revolution".
- This is the seventh episode of seasons 4 and 5 not to have a polka-dotted pattern on its end card, following "Rocketear", "Penalteam", "Determination", "Reunion", "Migration" and "Conformation".
- This finale can be seen as a combination of all of the previous four season finales, due to the similarities and references shared in some way.
- With "Volpina", both finales set up Lila/Cerise as a major antagonist in the future for the show.
- With "Mayura", both finales involve huge events that Ladybug and her allies participate in, and fighting against Gabriel and the multitude of villains he created in an attempt to accumulate the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses.
- With "Miracle Queen", both finales focusing on the main antagonist, Gabriel and Chloé, using their respective Miraculous for evil purposes, gain control over many citizens, exploit the other Miraculouses and their powers for themselves, and losing their Miraculouses in the end, with Ladybug reclaiming back the jewels and offering the villains a chance of redemption. Both villains also fight against a dual unfication of Ladybug, Bug Noire against Monarch and Dragon Bug (alongside Snake Noir) against Miracle Queen.
- With parallels and references from "Strikeback", Ladybug and Cat Noir went from having a team of Miraculous holders to losing all but theirs to Monarch. Here, the roles are reversed, with Monarch having claimed every Miraculous, including the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses, to surrendering them all to Ladybug and thus, restoring her team of Miraculous superheroes back.
- For an unknown reason, there are two versions of the episode:
- When Monarch gets slammed onto the floor by Bug Noire, the background music immediately cuts off.
- When Bug Noire hits Monarch with her baking pan Lucky Charm, there is no extra sound effect for it.
- The background music during Bug Noire and Monarch's battle in the Crypt whilst the Resistance, the United Heroez, Ladydragon and the Guardians fight the Miraculized, and Cerise entering the Agreste mansion is slightly different.
- Plagg's true form lacks the green electricity around him.
- Most of the effects are less notable upon Gimmi's appearance and Gabriel making his wish.
- Gimmi says either "So be I." or "So be it."
- When the white light absorbs the universe, some things are different:
- The light grows at a slightly different speed.
- Some of the angles of the world aren't the same.
- There are red and blue lights when the universe was destroyed and rebuilt.
- The background music when Cerise video chats with Mr. Damocles is also different.
- When the universe is destroyed and rebuilt, it is similar to Luma's sacrifice in the ending of Super Mario Galaxy.
- Marinette trying to persuade Gabriel to change his ways is a callback to "Mayura", but ended up falling into a trap where Gabriel actually succeeds in having both the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous; however, unlike before, Gabriel does change his mind when using the wish by sacrificing his own life.
- This is the second episode where Gabriel cries.
- Coincidentally, like season 4, he does it in a two-part finale. In season 4, he does it in "Risk", but in this season, he does it in part 2.
- This is the fourth time Ladybug is seen dual wielding following "The Puppeteer", "Riposte" and "Miracle Queen".
- It's possible that Cerise was attacked by The Supreme from "Miraculous Paris".
- As of this episode, every former member of Miss Bustier's class has received a Miraculous, following Marinette and Adrien in "Origins", Alya in "Sapotis", Chloé in "Style Queen", Nino in "Anansi", Max in "Startrain", Kim in "Party Crasher", Mylène in "Mega Leech", Rose in "Guiltrip", Juleka in "Crocoduel", Sabrina, Nathaniel and Ivan in "Penalteam", and Alix in "Evolution".
- Cerise is also the second member of Miss Bustier's class to use a Miraculous for evil following Chloé in "The Battle of the Miraculous".
- Every miraculous tool appears in some way in the episode, except the Ox's Mallet.
- During the sequence of the former team members receiving the miraculouses permanently, the four who weren't in Miss Bustier's class (Luka, Kagami, Zoé and Marc) are the first to be shown, and they're in the order they initially received them.
- Alongside the premiere on TFOU, TF1 released a writers' commentary of the two parter, revealing new information:[6]
- Bug Noire and Monarch fighting handcuffed is a reference to kung fu movies.
- Marinette is the one who defeats Gabriel, not Bug Noire, showing that in the end, it is not violence or strength that wins, but people talking to each other and opening up about their feelings. It is when people are not subject to their emotions, but instead try to understand them to think better and take the right decisions.
- The fact that Gabriel removed all the "weapons" shows that Gabriel has surrendered to Marinette and she has won.
- Not being able to live without her, Gabriel decided to sacrifice himself to be with Emilie and save Nathalie.
- Despite Adrien and Marinette's cuteness, some lies remain, and the butterflies around them fly ominously.
- Marinette making the miraculouses unique jewelry by hand, while Gabriel had turned them into identical rings with machinery, is an allegory about craftsmanship and industrial production.
- We'll see the new miraculouses in Season 6, which will be adapted to every person.
Errors
- When consoling Gabriel, Bug Noire states "Spots and claws away", even though the phrase for de-transforming while using multiple Miraculouses is "Reverse morphosis".
- It's possible that this may be a special incantation used for the Ladybug/Cat pair of Miraculouses.
- In order to keep the identity of Monarch safe, Ladybug's claim that Gabriel gave his life to defeat Monarch is inconsistent with the rules of her Miraculous Ladybug, as all damage and presumed death is negated and reversed. Therefore, the logic would be scrutinized very quickly, especially by Adrien.
- However, it's possible that she said that Gabriel sacrificed himself after Ladybug used her power to restore everything or that Gabriel's sacrifice was beyond her power to repair, something that is believable as even Miraculous Ladybug has its own limitations, such as in "Miracle Queen", when the Miraculous Ladybug couldn't restore Master Fu's memory. In "Miraculous New York", the possibility of Ladybug not being able to restore Aeon had she not been an android is brought up.
- When Cerise puts on the Butterfly Miraculous at the end of the episode, Nooroo doesn't appear. Although it's possible that the electrical field could be caused by him, it's currently unknown whether or not that is the case.
- Also, when Cerise put on the Miraculous, for some reason it was shown at its activated mode instead of a camouflaged one.
- This is probably because the show's production staff haven't created the camouflaged mode for her yet.
- Also, when Cerise put on the Miraculous, for some reason it was shown at its activated mode instead of a camouflaged one.
- When Gabriel wears the Ladybug and Black Cat miraculous, they do not go into camouflage mode, and instead remain in activated mode.
- In the end card, Bunnyx's Miraculous is outside of her pocket.
- When Bug Noire takes off one of the rings out of Monarch's right ring finger, she has the Turtle Miraculous ring, but she should have had the Rooster Miraculous ring instead as she grabbed the ring which was closer to the fingertip.
- When Bug Noire took the rings from Gabriel's right hand, the Ox Miraculous doesn't appear on the metal piece, and in the following scenes, Gabriel doesn't wear it too, which means it had been missing.
- After the cataclysmed elevator lands on Monarch and he stops it with cane, there can still be seen Miraculous rings on his right hand despite the fact that Bug Noire took them moment ago.
- In the Brazilian Portuguese dub, teenage Bunnyx has the voice of her adult version.
- After returning all the Miraculous to their original forms and put them in small Miracle boxes, when Marinette goes to pick the box that is destined to the Butterfly Miraculous, two Wayzzes are seen: one hugging the box of his Miraculous and the other hovering in front of Marinette's computer screen.
- According to the storyboard, Wayzz floating in front of the screen should have been Roaar.
- Throughout the episode, Miraculized detransform once their Alliance is removed or destroyed while wearing it. However, Ivan and the Parisians who Knightowl fights detransform after their rings are removed and destroyed.
- After Majestia destroys the Alliance rings in her hand, there are fewer metal parts than usual.
- In the scene when everyone on the French Miraculous superhero team is back, Argos is holding his hand fan, but it disappears in the next scene.
- Monarch was shown to be physically affected by the Lucky Charms even though he was using Resistance, meaning that they should've dissolved when they made contact with him as seen in "Revolution".
- However, a possible explanation for this inconsistency is that most likely Tikki was already aware that Monarch would use Resistance during her battle against Bug Noire and decided to give her Lucky Charms that are not magic and that only disappear after she discards them of their existence with their own power instead of also disappearing with their de-transforming.
- It may also be possible that since Marinette was in a unification with the powers of Creation and Destruction, she could have used the energy of Tikki and Plagg's powers to make objects not disintegrate with any kind of magic.
- Or Monarch didn't activate Resistance until Bug Noire used the Cataclysm on him directly.
- Bug Noire incorrectly states that Resistance is the "power of the Buffalo", when it is in fact the power of the Ox Miraculous.
- After Marinette transforms into Bug Noire, the Miraculized don't teleport to Gabriel's mansion and participate in the battle. They could have found out her place using their quantum imprint detectors.
- However, it is also possible that Tomoe disabled those detectors to let Monarch fight Bug Noire alone.
- It's also possible that since Bug Noire is using both the Ladybug and the Cat Miraculous, her quantum imprint is different.
- In some scenes of the episode, Monarch's voice isn't deep like it usually is, instead being like Gabriel's civilian voice.
- Almost at the end of the episode, Barkk is missing her body as only her head is shown.
- One of the pages of the Miraculous spellbook about the Peacock Miraculous can be seen on Marinette's desk when she's repairing the miraculouses, despite it never having been in her possession, as Félix got it from Gabriel directly, and therefore it wasn't reconfigured into a ring.
- Ryuko's sword is yellow instead of red at the end.
- When Marinette detransforms, she doesn't have her purse, despite wearing it throughout the previous episode.
- Where the group is cheering after the news broadcast, four characters are seen twice in the two different front body views of the group in different locations, while the second front body view is identified as from the one of the back body views before the front ones, considering there are some characters missing from the cheering group as well (Luka, Kagami, Marc, Nathalie, Amilie and Placide).
- Zoé is seen on the left side next to Sabrina, while on the right side she's behind Marinette again like in the back body view while she's next to Adrien as well.
- Max, along with Jagged, are seen on the left side behind Mylène, while on the right side Max is in front of Nino and Alya.
- Jagged, along with Max, are seen on the left side behind Mylène at the back, while on the right side Jagged is in the front next to Penny.
- Su-Han is seen on the left side behind Juleka, while on the right side he's behind Nathaniel and Alix while next to Marinette like in the back body view.
