Built in 2001, Portcullis House is a five-storey Gothic Revival building with grey accents reminiscent of the architectural style of the Palace of Westminster. Situated on the banks of the Thames and right next to Elisabeth Tower, Portcullis House has rows of tall chimneys that are very distinctive.
Portcullis House is an office building for MPs serving in both houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Each floor is unofficially assigned to a political party. There are various conference and meeting rooms named after British political figures. There are also some food shops reserved for MPs and their guests.
Directly opposite Big Ben is one of the entrances to Westminster tube station.
