—Orikko to Marc, "Penalteam" |
Orikko[6] is a supporting character of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He is the kwami of Pretension who is connected to the Rooster Miraculous.[7] With his power, Orikko's wearer can use the thumb ring to transform into a rooster-themed superhero.
Orikko and his Miraculous are currently owned by Marc Anciel, who uses it to transform into the superhero Rooster Bold.
Appearance[]
Orikko is 10 centimeters (or 4 inches) tall[4] and has burnt orange skin, the color getting lighter the further down his body, with orange eyes and yellow sclerae. He has a rooster comb on his head, a yellow beak, and a rooster-like tail with three tips.
Personality[]
Orikko appears to be a very prideful kwami, being easily offended, evidenced when Gabriel called him "useless" when he was told of the limitations of the kwami's power. The other kwamis inclusively said to Gabriel he shouldn't have insulted Orikko as it appears that he becomes unwilling to cooperate when that happens.
Abilities[]
Orikko can fly, levitate, and phase through solid objects. He can also carry objects that are larger and/or heavier than himself.
As a kwami, Orikko is able to transform the holder of the Rooster Miraculous into a rooster-themed superhero, giving the wearer the power of Sublimation, allowing the user give themself any superpower they choose. However, as revealed in "Destruction", Orikko's superpowers does have some limitations; Sublimation cannot take the form of a wish, it has to be an ability. Orikko also can't give a superpower that already belongs to another kwami, since each kwami represents a unique concept and a concept can only exist once in the universe. Finally, Orikko can't give a superpower that would disrupt another kwamis magic, like the power of finding a miraculous user's secret identity, the quantum masking is part of the kwamis power.
However, Orikko's version of the power is unknown but stronger and will cause a catastrophe if used.

Trivia[]
- Orikko was first revealed in a second season trailer on August 31, 2017.[7]
- Orikko's name was confirmed in the credits of the Latin American Spanish dub of "Sandboy".[6]
- The rooster is the tenth animal of the Chinese zodiac.
- Roosters represent pride, honesty, watchfulness, flamboyance.
- Roosters are male chickens, despite kwamis not having genders.
- The Gallic rooster is the unofficial national symbol of France as a nation. Its association with France dates back to the Middle Ages due to the coincidental homonyms of the Latin words Gallus (inhabitants of Gaul) and gallus ("rooster").
- Orikko's name is a reference to "Cocorico", the French onomatopoeia for the sound a rooster makes (the equivalent of English's "cock-a-doodle-doo").
- Orikko is the only kwami that has three syllables in his name, while the other kwamis have one or two syllables.[8]
- "Cocorico" is sometimes used as an expression of French national pride.
- Orikko, Mullo, and Longg are the only kwamis whose voices can only be heard in the background of "Sandboy".
- Until "Destruction", Orikko had the lowest number of lines out of any kwami, only two, one in "Queen Banana" and one in "Penalteam".
- Interestingly, Chloé is akumatized in both episodes.
- Orikko getting easily insulted, can be a reference to the saying "Proud as a rooster".
