Non-Canon Information This page is for a concept/character/etc. that didn't become, isn't considered, or hasn't been confirmed canon in the Miraculous Ladybug Quantic Universe continuity. |
- Note: It's unknown what the official pronouns Null goes by are. For consistency and readability, "they/them" pronouns will be used to address this character.
Null was a planned character who was going to be the overarching antagonist of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir when it was early in development. They are the kwami[note 1] of Nothingness who works for Richard Sphinx (the original version of Gabriel Agreste from the Ladybug PV).
Appearance[]
Physical appearance[]
Null is a small creature with an antennae on top of their head, a long tail, and three eyes. Two concept art depicted Null as either completely black or completely white.
Personality[]
While not a lot of information about Null is known, their goal is said to "return the world back to nothingness". This indicates that Null wants to destroy the universe and return it to the way it was before the Big Bang.
Abilities[]
Like their fellow kwamis Tikki and Plagg who appeared in the Ladybug PV, Null can fly. According to The Art of Miraculous, Null can give Richard Sphinx "insights into the future".
Relationships[]
Richard Sphinx[]
While it's unknown what their relationship is like, The Art of Miraculous revealed that Null works for Richard in the Ladybug PV. Null would give Richard "insights into the future", implying to be Richard's desire for world domination.
Tikki and Plagg[]
The Art of Miraculous revealed that Null personally knows Tikki and Plagg. While their relationship is unknown, Null is said to be the one who trapped Tikki and Plagg in the Ladybug earrings and the Cat ring, respectively.

Trivia[]
- The concept of Miraculouses didn't exist during the development of the Ladybug PV. Because of this, Null isn't bound to any magical jewelry.
- The concept of Miraculouses and kwamis are likely inspired by Tikki and Plagg being trapped in their respective jewelry by Null.
- Null doesn't appear in the Ladybug PV despite they play an important role in the initial setting. Their existence was only revealed in the artbook.
- Because Null's concept art appears in the chapter dedicated to both Tikki and Plagg in the artbook, they are often mistaken as a fusion form of the two. Null's role as Richard Sphinx's magical companion is revealed in Hawk Moth's chapter.
- Null isn't the only kwami who was going to have an antagonistic role. The artbook revealed that Mr. Pigeon and the Mime were going to have kwamis of their own; Mr. Pigeon's kwami is named Besil, while the Mime's kwami is named Mimic.
- Their name is a reference to the word null, which is used in science with the meaning of nothingness or emptiness.
- Even though Null's character was never used anywhere else in the series the concept they represent is shown:
- Such as Gabriel Agreste after he lost his wife, he went spiraling into grief that without Emilie nothing mattered.
- Re-Verse Gabriel felt a different kind of nothing when he was lonely as he was the only hero in his world until Shadybug and Claw Noir reformed.
- Adrien felt empty in having no friends until he made the change in his life to make them.
- Re-Verse Adrien missed his mother dearly and was willing to make the wish until his good counterpart told him of the consequences and encouraged him to move on.
- Before Shadybug, broke-down at the emptiness of her situation as there was nothing she could to change it unless she changed herself.
- As Cat Noir, Adrien's power the Cataclysm can turn nearly anything into dust and leave nothing behind.
- When it comes to using his Cataclysm on others, he uses as a last resort when there is nothing left to try or do.
- Same with the Peacock Miraculous' power, when revoking a sentibeing/sentimonster they turn into nothingness.
- When it comes to Mirage, the illusions cast will disappear into nothing if touched or the user will detransform.
- Lucky Charm, will disappear into nothing when the Ladybug holders detransforms or using the restoration power.
- Second Chance when time is rewritten in a loop, except for the Snake Miraculous holder no one else remembers nothing.
- The victims of akumatization remember nothing when deakumatized similar to waking up from a dream no one remembers.
- In "Vanisher", due to the titular villain's power physical she couldn't be seen.
- In "Malediktator", Andre fell into nothingness and despair when he couldn't give Chloe what she wanted.
- If Gabriel had stolen all the Tikki's and Plagg's, he could across the multiverse and only their wishing power could only alter the worlds their connected too then, he would've found out he did that all for nothing to change his world except that he may have caused a serious disturbance that could've thrown the multiverse out of balance.
- When a miraculous is destroyed the kwami the connected to it returns to nothing at least on the physical plane of existence.
- Chloe involving her background, where she lived her whole life in power and felt like she was nothing without it but the more she tried to hold on to it the more it slipped away until she had nothing left.
- Sometimes when a Miraculous given to the wrong person or used for the wrong reason it will become ineffective to the point where the holder will accomplish the opposite of what they want or nothing.
- If Gabriel didn't give up his pursuit of the jewels, wish or not he would've end up with nothing no matter which way things would've turned out.
- In "Cat Blanc", thanks to Hawk Moth's obsession and revenge, Adrien as Cat Blanc was left in a world with barely nothing left.
- Due to his home life, Adrien felt like he was nothing and then again when Ladybug became the guardian and relied on the others more than him.
- "Strikeback", when dealing with the titular sentimonster Team Miraculous had no choice but to destroy it because they had no other choice left.
- In Seasons 4 and 5, the state of the emptiness of the Miracle Box represent fear, greed and danger but with them retrieved it showed freedom, hope and understanding.
- In "Emotion", Felix was angry about being excluded to the point of having nothing because of those who enforce the rules.
- This episode and "Sandboy", were the only times where Ladybug received nothing as a Lucky Charm.
- If Colt didn't know the jewel was broken nor it's dangers when in that condition and created his son out of his own jealous ego as well as punished him that means Felix got what happened to him for nothing.
- Same with Team Miraculous, they and their people got stuck with something they didn't deserve all because Adrien's family didn't say nothing.
- Then again with Ladybug's situation with his amokizated object where she had nothing to go on.
- He believed that the world would be better without those to enforce the rules thereby there were none however (as per Ladybug's plan) when he tried to bring "Marinette" back but couldn't he learned the hard way without rules the world would be thrown into chaos and destruction until there is nothing left.
- When Adrien realized that Felix couldn't bring her back he felt helplessness as there was nothing he could do.
- If anyone thinks about it reason wise aside from desires being played with and revenge, Rena and the others got depowered for nothing.
- In "Transmission", when Marinette felt that she had so much responsibility and power but exchange for it she was empty in honesty, freedom and love.
- In "Reunion", when a current Miraculous holder and kwamis establishes a reunion only they can see the past holder's spirit while everyone else sees nothing.
- Despite both sides having knowledge on the other (Marinette and Gabriel) thanks to Adrien's family running out the clock neither could do nothing with it.
- Such as Gabriel Agreste after he lost his wife, he went spiraling into grief that without Emilie nothing mattered.
