"Miraculous World: Tokyo" is an upcoming special TV movie of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. It is the sixth written and will be the fifth released movie in the Miraculous World series.
Production history
The Tokyo special was first announced during CCXP 2020 on December 5.[3]
Sometime in 2022, the book adaptation of the "Origins" two parter by Little, Brown and Company was added to the Edelweiss catalog, and the description revealed that three TV specials had entered production that year.[4] The first two would later be revealed to be "Miraculous Paris" and "Miraculous London".
On January 11, 2024, a Variety article once again mentioned that two specials were in production at that time.[5]
On May 1, Thomas Astruc confirmed on Twitter that the special hadn't been greenlighted by executives yet.[6]
As revealed on Jun Violet's LinkedIn profile, the special entered production in June.[1]
On July 5, 2024, Sébastien Thibaudeau revealed that he and Thomas Astruc were working on the script for the special, and that the special's codename starts with "J".[2]
On October 1, 2024, LoliRock creator Jean-Louis Vandestoc revealed he was working on the special, referring to it as an OVA.

Trivia
- Earlier sources claimed that the character LadyTiger would be introduced in the special, although it's unknown whether that's still the case.
- In July 2022, it was announced on Licensing Russia that a TV spin-off was planned and was slated for either a 2026 or 2027 release.[7]
- On July 7, 2024, Jeremy Zag revealed that a character called Tiger Force would be introduced to the series' universe soon.[8] It's likely she's LadyTiger, so it's possible she will appear in the current version of the special.
- The special will use both CGI and 2D animation.[1]
- Interestingly, "The Chinese Legend" (the precursor of "Miraculous Shanghai") was planned to be in 2D during its early stages, due to its cost.[9][10]
