"Miraculous World: London - At the Edge of Time" (or simply "Miraculous London")[2] is a 50-minute special TV movie of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. As based on the writing and release order, it is the fourth movie in the Miraculous World series.[3]
Synopsis
TF1
In the Burrow, Bunnyx sees the windows of time disappear one by one... The future is fading away. What's happening? At the same time, Marinette wakes up at home and discovers that someone has just made a wish in Paris thanks to the Miraculouses of the Cat and the Ladybug.
Quickly, she must transform into Ladybug... but she realizes that she no longer has her earrings!
Fortunately, Bunnyx comes to get her just before the wish erases everything.
Together, Bunnyx and Marinette, who has become Chronobug, will have to save the future by finding out who discovered that Marinette was Ladybug, when, and how this person managed to steal her Miraculous. Marinette realizes that the Butterfly Miraculous now has a new owner! All that remains is to hope for one thing: that Ladybug succeeds in defeating her opponent, otherwise it will be the end of Ladybug for good.[4]
Disney Channel France
To save the future, Marinette, now Chronobug, must team up with Bunnyx to solve the mystery of who discovered Ladybug's secret identity. Because this person also managed to get hold of the Ladybug Miraculous, and all those in the Miracle Box. During their adventures, the heroines learn that the thief who discovered the ultimate secret is also the new bearer of the Butterfly Miraculous. Marinette's only hope is to succeed in finding this adversary who is hiding somewhere in time. Otherwise, it will be the end of Ladybug.[5]
Production timeline
The special was first announced during a Comic Con Experience (CCXP) panel on December 5, 2020.[6]
On April 18, 2021, it was revealed during a Licensing Russia panel that the special was slated for a 2024 release. It was also revealed that Miss Rose, an upcoming television series, would serve as a spin-off for the special. However, both projects were pushed back because the script for the special wasn't written yet. [7]
As revealed on Fred Lenoir's resume, the script was eventually written in 2022, before "Miraculous Paris" and Season 6.[3]
Sometime later in the year, the Hachette Jeunesse book adaptation of the special was added to Amazon, with a release date of June 1. The date was most likely an error, as the special in its current form hadn't even been announced at that point and was early in its production, but it implies that it was greenlit.[8]
As revealed on Antoine Poirine's and Louise Reynaud's LinkedIn profile, the storyboard was done between May and August 2023.[9][10]
During 2023, the special was added to the ISAN registry as "The End of Ladybug", with a tentative release date of August 31, 2024.[11]
At a panel at GalaxyCon Richmond in March 2024, Mela Lee revealed she'd recorded lines for the special.[12]
In the March issue of Licensing Magazine, it was mentioned that the special was set to be released in the fourth quarter of the year.[13]
Throughout April, multiple of the series' English voice actors mentioned that they were recording lines, seemingly for the special.
- On the 8th, Ezra Weisz posted a video on Instagram of Cristina Vee.[14]
- On the 9th, Sabrina Weisz posted an Instagram story.[15]
- On the same day, Bryce Papenbrook also came into Dubbing Brothers.[16]
- On the 15th, Keith Silverstein returned to record lines for Gabriel, despite the latter's death.[17]
- On the same day, Mela Lee shared an Instagram story with Selah Victor-Muscio and Ezra, the first latter returning to Dubbing Brothers to record lines.[18] She later appeared in another reel Ezra posted on the 18th.[19]
- On the 26th, Ezra posted another video of Cristina recording.[20]
On May 17, Ezra Weisz posted an image of a session at Dubbing Brothers.[21]
On May 21-23, two posters and the final title were unveiled at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo.[2][22]
On May 25, ZAG Ambassador Angrien Agreste revealed in a post that Ladybug's new form would be called Chronobug.[23]
On June 11, a trailer for the special was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and an updated release date of Autumn 2024 was revealed.[24][25]> The same information and trailer would be shown at Licensing Con on August 28-29.[26]
On September 4, TF1 revealed a synopsis for the special and the full French title.[4]
On September 5, in an interview with ¡Despierta América!, Cristina Vee stated that the special was set to release in the USA around Thanksgiving (November 28).[27]
On September 17, TF1 released a recording of its Back-to-school conference to the internet, revealing a new trailer.[28] On the same day, Disney Channel France announced the special's global premiere for October 5.[1]
On September 23, Disney Channel France released new renders of Chronobug and Bunnyx.[29]

Trivia
- The special takes place during Season 5, during the events of "Re-creation".[30]
- The title might be a reference to Activision's 2011 video game Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
- The design of Spectral Looter bears resemblance to the suits worn by the Ghostforce from the eponymous series, although the special doesn't seem to be a crossover between the two shows.
- The content of the special was initially planned to be at the end of the season, similarly to the "Origins" two parter in Season 1.[31]
- On April 17, 2021, it was announced via Licensing Russia that Miss Rose, a character from the upcoming titular television series, would appear in this special. However, as of 2024, it's unconfirmed if she is still planning to appear in this special after the initial announcement.
- A year before it was announced that Miss Rose is connected with the London special, Jeremy Zag indirectly revealed in an interview for Toys & Family Entertainment magazine that the television series would serve as a "true follow-up" to Miraculous Ladybug.[32]
- According to the Licensing Russia panel in 2021, the Miss Rose television series is going to serve as a spin-off to the London special.[7]
- However, as of 2023, it was confirmed in a behind-the-scenes video for Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie that the Miss Rose television series is still in development. So, it's unknown if the television series is still planned to be a spin-off connected with Miraculous Ladybug or if plans were later changed to make it separated from the franchise.[33]
- At Annecy festival 2024, a promotional leaflet for the upcoming ZAG Heroez shows revealed that a show called Double Rose was in development, which would imply that the concept was reworked into that show.[34]
- Lila/Cerise is revealed having a new outfit and hair, with that being a third unknown identity and has Nooroo in a much tighter leach than Gabriel ever had.
- This episode reveals that Alix will possess the Rabbit Miraculous through her life at least up until she is 70 and that the three versions get to meet each other in the Burrow occasionally to play a chess-like game.
- The older Bunnyx seen in episodes like "Timetagger" is 25.
- It's revealed that whatever wish Lila/Cerise wants Gimmi to grant her will reconfigure the universe in a much larger scale that ever happened before in such way that will change the entire known timeline.
- It is showed that the wish granted by Gimmi is instantaneous, with the wave of light that comes of it destroying and re-creating as it passes by.
- The events that unfold after Gabriel made is wish is revealed:
- After the wish is made, Marinette discovers that both Gabriel and Emilie are gone and Nathalie was saved due to the former's sacrifice. She also recovers the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, together with the other Miraculous turned into rings and the twin rings.
- Nathalie arrives to the scene and discovers that Marinette is Ladybug. She takes the superhero to Monarch's lair, where the kwamis are, and also reveals to her where Adrien and Kagami are and that Tomoe Tsurugi was an ally to the supervillain.
- After Bug Noire fixes everything (in this way fixing all the damages caused by Nightormentor and the Miraculized), she goes to London to free both Kagami and Adrien.
- Bug Noire asks Kagami to not tell Adrien the truth about his father, while Kagami tells her she will handle her mother.
- Bug Noire lies to Adrien, telling him that Gabriel and Tomoe were forced by Monarch to help him by making the Alliance rings under the threat of harming their children, being why the two of them send them to London. She also tells him that, during the final battle against Monarch, the villain had Gabriel and Nathalie as hostages, harming both Ladybug and Nathalie, in this way getting the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to get a wish. However, at the last moment, Gabriel pounced at Monarch, took the Miraclous and was the one to make the wish, wishing to save Ladybug and Nathalie's life at the expense of his and Monarch's.
- Through another perspective a good of what Bug Noire said wasn't a total lie, Gabriel was a hero in an emotional sense, after using the Peacock Miraculous to make his family what the Bunnyxes was true "when solving a problem don't try and make more" which is what Gabriel did all throughout seasons 1-5, all that time in a way Gabriel was fighting the ultimate villain long before Team Miraculous even showed up: himself as he was fighter his darker instincts but as everything went on little by little the heroes (especially Ladybug) began to crack the wall he put up until he finally accepted the truth and did something right.
- After freeing both Kagami and Adrien, Bug Noire returned to Paris, reuniting first with Nathalie and erasing any trace of Monarch in the Agreste mansion so that Adrien can never discover the truth, then returning home where, as she was sleeping, Spectral Looter came by to take all the Miraculous from her.
- After stopping the new Butterfly Miraculous holder from knowing her identity and, in this way, prevent them from getting all the Miraculous and have their wish granted, Marinette decides to permanently give the Miraculous to her fellow superhero so that the risk of this new supervillain to get the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous is reduced.
- It's explicitly confirmed that all akumatized villains lose their memories while being akumatized after they are de-akumatized, even if they are self-akumatized.
- It's unknown if the same happens for kamikotized heroes.
- Despite this going against what has been implicited in the series, there are ways to explain them:
- When Gabriel self-akumatized himself into The Collected for the first time in the episode of the same name, his objective was to sway Ladybug and Cat Noir from his real identity, so he didn't need to remember his time while akumatized.
- It's unkown if Gabriel remembers his time while being Nightormentor, but it's possible that he saw no need to remember, due to the reasons that led to those akumatizations. For the eventuality he does remember, it must due to the fact he kept the Butterfly Miraculous with him, implying that, as long one holder has the Butterfly Miraculous with them.
- Both Nathalie and Lila Rossi seemed to remember the events of their akumatization in "Catalyst" and the former again in "Ladybug" and "Passion. Chloé also remembers her time as Miracle Queen in the episode of the same name. The same can be said about Tomoe Tsurugi during the time she was akumatized in "Ikari Gozen", "Multiplication" and "Pretension". However, it's possible Gabriel allowed them to keep their memories.
- It's possible that those that are able to free themselves from akumatization while being controlled by a holder are able to remember their time while being akumatized, like Alya in "Gang of Secrets", Nino in "Rocketear", Sabine in "Qilin" and Lila in "Revelation".
- When Gabriel self-akumatized himself into The Collected for the first time in the episode of the same name, his objective was to sway Ladybug and Cat Noir from his real identity, so he didn't need to remember his time while akumatized.
- As she and Bunnyx are searching the moment her identity was revealed to the one that took her Miraculous, Chronobug sees a chance to recover the Butterfly Miraculous after Gabriel lost it, something that would solve the problem and ensure the safety of all the Miraculous of the Chinese Miracle Box. However, she is convinced otherwise by Bunnyx because that would cause the future to change and possibly cause much more trouble.
- It is showed that Tikki has known about the events of this special because she had experienced beforehand, due to the fact Marinette went to the past when her Miraculous was left unattended to get it so she could fight the mysterious new Butterfly Miraculous holder.
- This would explain Tikki's absolute faith that Marinette would become an excellent holder.
- The last scene uses the Season 6 animation style, making it the first time two art styles were used in a single piece of media, aside from imaginery sequences.
- Interestingly, "Miraculous Tokyo" is set to include both 2D and 3D animation.[35]
- This is the twenty-third time where Adrien is a minor character in the permanent timeline, following "Style Queen", "Cat Blanc", "Truth", "Gang of Secrets", "Mr. Pigeon 72", "Furious Fu", "Sole Crusher", "Guiltrip", "Crocoduel", "Optigami", "Sentibubbler", "Qilin", "Dearest Family", "Ephemeral", "Penalteam", "Destruction", "Intuition", "Adoration", "Emotion", "Pretension", "Conformation" and "Re-creation".
- This is also the first World special where Adrien's a minor character.
- The episode contains flashbacks to "Ladybug & Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)", "Stoneheart (Origins - Part 2)", "Evolution", "Miraculous Paris", "Transmission", "Derision", "Collusion", "Representation", "Revolution", "Conformation", and "Re-creation" among others.
- "Troublemaker" is referenced by Bunnyx as both the titular villain and Spectral Looter ate both intangible villains.
- When Marinette stated that the events of "Ladybug & Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)" and "Stoneheart (Origins - Part 2)" felt like it was 10 years ago, this was actually a 4th wall break due to the series starting 10 years before this special aired.
- Adrien sitting on his bed is a reference to the Neon Genesis evangelion meme in Episode 25 where Shinji is in a chair.[36]
