Description[]
The Louvre Pyramid is a transparent laminated glass pyramid composed of 603 rhombuses and 73 triangles. This glass covering is supported by a metal structure of steel and aluminum. It measures 21.64 meters in height, and is 35 meters wide at the base. Being square in shape, the surface area under the pyramid is 1,254 m2, the same size as the Pyramid of Cheops.
On the west side of the pyramid is the entrance to the Louvre Museum, which lights up the Hall Napoléon.
Three 5-meter-high replicas are placed on the sides of the main pyramid, which allows the entrances to the museum's collections to be lit. The whole is surrounded by triangular basins. At night, the Pyramid is lit up by thousands of luminaries.
