“ | I know I'm not 5,000 years old, so... who exactly was that Ladybug in the papyrus? | ” |
—Marinette, "The Pharaoh" |
La Déesse Coccinelle was an Egyptian woman around 5,000 years ago. She was a past Miraculous holder, wielding the Ladybug Miraculous and transforming into Ladybug when Tikki inhabited them. She stopped King Tutankhamun I from sacrificing an innocent woman in order to resurrect his deceased wife, Princess Nefertiti. A depiction of her as a hieroglyph on a papyrus appears in the Louvre.
In "The Pharaoh", Marinette learns of her existence (and of the long lineage of different Ladybugs throughout history) while preventing the same event that this past Ladybug dealt with, the akuma-created Pharaoh trying to use a sacrifice to resurrect Nefertiti.
Contents
Appearance
As depicted in the hieroglyph, to transform, she owned the Ladybug Miraculous. She also wore a kalarisis with spots on the fabric and pasium around her neck as well as an Egyptian wig.
Abilities
If this past Ladybug had the same powers are the current Ladybug (Marinette), she had enhanced abilities and the superpowers Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug. She also used the yo-yo, as shown in the hieroglyph.

Trivia
- While this Ladybug isn't the only previous Ladybug Miraculous holder to be pictured in the series, she is the only Ladybug revealed to Marinette and talked about so far, with her mission to prevent a sacrifice being explained by the Pharaoh until the Ancient Ladybug Miraculous holder in "Feast".
- In the drawing by Feri González, she is referred to as the Oracle of Khepri, the Egyptian God of Creation, the movement of the Sun, and Rebirth.
- daesuqat khinfasa' saghira (دعسوقة خنفساء صغيرة) means "ladybug" in Arabic.
- Since she stopped King Tutankhamun I's ritual of resurrecting Princess Nefertit and both their real-world counterparts were born during the time of the New Kingdom of Egypt it's possible that she was born in the same period.
- In reality, the real King Tut ruled Egypt 3,300 years ago.
