Non-Canon Information
This page is for a concept/character/etc. that didn't become, isn't considered, or hasn't been confirmed canon in the Miraculous Ladybug Quantic Universe continuity.

Kwamis is an official guidance book sold on the ZAG Store, to introduce the kwamis of the Chinese Miracle Box.[3]

Overview[]

Each page details information regarding the kwamis. This includes their name, their powers, their "gender", their personality, their Miraculous, and the abstract concept they embody. It also includes a description of their power, and the weapon their Miraculous provides.

It also states their holder's name and hero name, along with their Miraculous transformation and detransformation phrases.

Trivia[]

  • There are two editions of the book:
    • The first edition only details the kwamis who have a holder prior to "Miracle Queen".
      • However, Mullo isn't featured in the book despite the fact that her Miraculous was temporarily wielded and activated by Marinette in "Kwamibuster". This was most likely done because Marinette isn't her main holder, as the Mouse Miraculous is later wielded by Mylène. Mullo is later added in the second edition which includes both Mylène as her main holder and Marinette as her temporary holder.
    • The second and latest edition details all the kwamis who have a main holder from Season 1 to Season 4. There are also a lot of things that were changed in the second edition of the book.
      • This edition removed the kwamis' "gender" mentioned in the first edition.
      • It included a heading for "Temporary holder(s)" for any kwamis who have one or more other than their main holder. For example, Tikki's page mentioned Adrien/Mister Bug and Alya/Scarabella as her temporary holders.
      • It removed the French version of both the kwami's invocation spell. Instead, it mentioned only the English version of the invocation spell.
      • It also removed the "Codename" heading from the first edition which mentions both the English and French versions of the superhero/supervillain identity name.
      • The kwamis' holder mentioned under the "Holder" heading have been changed in the second edition. Instead of only including the superhero/supervillain identity with the civilian name inside the parenthesis, it have been changed to "[the name of their holder] turns into [their superhero/supervillain identity name]".
      • The "Symbol" heading was moved from the first heading to either the seventh or eighth heading of the pages.
      • The kwamis' names are moved from the "Kwami" heading to the "Name" heading. In the first edition, the "Kwami" heading was for the name of the kwamis. Whereas in the second edition, it was changed to specifically mention the type of animal they're based on.
      • On Plagg's page, the weapon of the Cat Miraculous is changed from "stick" to "staff". In addition, the book included "cheese lover" as his personality trait.
      • In Pollen's page, the type of Miraculous object is changed from "comb" to "hair comb". In addition, the book included "respectful" as her personality trait.
      • On Wayzz's page, the book included "helpful" as his personality trait.
      • On Duusu's page, "bipolar" was removed from his personality traits and it was replaced with "emotional".
      • On Longg's page, "charismatic" was removed from his personality traits. In addition, his power description was shortened to "Transform into water/wind/lightning".
      • On Sass's page, "seducer" was removed from his personality traits.
      • On Kaalki's page, "aristocratic" was removed from her personality traits.
      • On Xuppu's page, "liar" was removed from his personality traits.
  • According to Thomas Astruc, he wasn't aware of the book's existence, stating in a now-deleted tweet, "Kwamis don't have a gender. I don't know where [this book] come from". This is likely the cause of the many inaccuracies in the first edition.[4]
  • The first edition of the book has 2D illustrations of the kwamis which were drawn by Amy Ng-Chee. However, the second version replaced the 2D illustrations with stock renders.
    • Duusu is the only kwami in the book whose concept art is used for his page instead of his stock render.
  • In the second edition, Trixx is the only kwami whose main holder is mentioned twice. This is because Alya was Rena Rouge from "Sapotis to "Sentibubbler" before she changed her identity to Rena Furtive from "Rocketear" to "Strikeback" to go undercover for the team.
  • According to Duusu's page, the Peacock Miraculous' special ability is called Avatar instead of amokization.
  • According to Nooroo's page in the second edition, the Butterfly Miraculous' special ability is called Empower when not being used by Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch.
  • The book only mentioned the identity of any holders who wield one Miraculous and not more than one. As a result, none of the unification identities (such as Dragonbug and Shadow Moth) are mentioned in the book.
    • However, if a holder wields multiple Miraculouses and does not activate more than one, then he/she is still mentioned in the book. This is the reason why Marinette is listed as Mullo's holder despite wearing multiple Miraculouses in "Kwamibuster" since she didn't activate all of them except the Mouse Miraculous and any Miraculouses she used for unification.

Errors[]

  • In both the first and second editions, some of the transformation phrases mentioned in the book are inaccurate, such as Longg's deactivation phrase being "Storm Subsides" when it is "Open Sky" and Duusu's deactivation phrase being "Fold My Feathers" rather than "Fall My Feathers".
  • In the first edition of the book, the kwamis are attributed genders despite they have been confirmed to be genderless and use either he/him or she/her pronouns, which vary depending on the dub.
    • Interestingly, a few kwamis having their "gender" included in their page match their pronouns for the French version of the series. For instance, Longg was mentioned to be "female" instead of "male" in the book since the kwami uses she/her pronouns in the French version instead of he/him pronouns in the English version.
    • The kwamis' "gender" was eventually removed in the second edition.
  • On Pollen's page in the second edition, it incorrectly stated that Chloé was Queen Bee from Seasons 2 to 4 instead of Seasons 2 to 3.
  • On Wayzz's page in the second edition, Master Wang Fu is listed as his "temporary holder". This is technically incorrect since Master Fu wore the Turtle Miraculous for a long time before Wayzz eventually team up with Nino to become Carapace.
  • Despite Daizzi having his own page, his name is missing in the table of content in the second edition of the book.
  • Even though Félix temporarily wielded the Dog Miraculous and became Flairmidable in "Strikeback", he isn't mentioned anywhere in Barkk's page.
