Adrien must attend the Diamonds' Dance organized by his father and Mrs. Tsurugi. He will be the king of the ball alongside Kagami, who has been chosen to be this year's queen. Neither Adrien nor Kagami want to go, but they are only teenagers who cannot disobey their parents's orders. When she finds out that Adrien did not dare to tell her about the dance, Marinette decides to go too. But how will she enter such a private event where she does not seem to be welcome at all?
Disney+
Ladybug faces Argos.
Plot
Marinette and Adrien visit André's ice cream stand, with the ice cream serving matchmaker happy the two kids are together. He narrates the ice cream and then gives it to the two lovebirds. They take a seat edge of the Seine, sharing their ice cream. After their long moment is shared, both slowly stare into each other's eyes, and attempt to kiss each other, but they are interrupted by the ringing of Adrien's phone.
In panic, Adrien quickly turns around and explains to Marinette that he's supposed to meet up with his father, so he cannot stay with her, although Marinette is doubtful if this is the truth. After Adrien leaves, the confused Marinette turns to Tikki, asking her whether Adrien seemed to be acting weird. Tikki shrugs it off, saying that they always act weird with each other.
Soon, we see Marinette, Alya and Nino sitting together at a table, with Marinette talking about Adrien's strange behavior, and how he randomly decided to leave without telling her beforehand. Jokingly, Alya and Nino mock her, asking how out of all people, Marinette, the girl who's knows Adrien's schedule off by heart, doesn't know where Adrien is off to tonight. Marinette argues back though, stating that she gave up on obsessing over Adrien's schedule, believing him is free to do whatever he likes, and she isn't in charge of him. To answer Marinette's previous concern about Adrien, Alya pulls out her Alliance and searches up the Diamonds' Dance, a society ball that Adrien's father, Gabriel, hosts every year for his most powerful friends and their children. The group starts to talk about how strict the ball is, and the perquisite of being on the official guest list to enter, meaning that people like Kagami, Prince Ali, Chloè and Zoè are invited to attend.
The scene changes to Kagami and her mother fencing against each other in an open park, until Kagami's mother states that they have to stop and get ready to attend the Diamonds' Dance. Unexpectedly, while walking towards a bench with her duffle bag on it, a familiar voice yells out her name. Lila, with a sad tone, asks if Kagami is alright, because "she doesn't look happy". Kagami then replies admitting that she is to go to the Diamonds' Dance with her mother, but doesn't want to go because her mother and Gabriel Agreste were planning to introduce her and Adrien as the king and queen of the ball.
Meanwhile, outside the cinema, Zoé tells Marinette that she is not going to the Diamonds' Dance, saying that it is just a place where hypocritical brats go to. She gives Marinette a white mask, which is also an invitation and a security key to the ball so that she can go to the dance and so that no one will recognize her. At the place where the Diamonds Dance will take place, there are bodyguards scanning the white masks of the guests. Gabriel dismisses an incoming call from Lila Rossi on his Alliance ring, much to her anger. As he welcomes Kagami and Tomoe, the Bourgeois family suddenly enter, with Chloé rudely remarking Adrien must be late because of Marinette. As Adrien goes to the Diamonds Dance and flirtingly greets Kagami, Marinette shows up and a bodyguard scans her white mask.
Inside the place where the Diamonds' Dance will take place, Amelie suddenly rushes in. As the bodyguards try to keep her outside and fail, she pretends as though Félix is still missing and criticizes Gabriel for not helping her to find him, to which he orders Nathalie to walk her out of the building, and Marinette takes her mask to the machine which scans it, allowing her into enter the place the ball will take place. As she enters, she is wearing a white dress and the mask. As she pretends to be from an immensely rich family and makes up a fake identity with the alias "Zoé" when Chloé asks her questions, she sees "Adrien" and Kagami sitting together high up. As they converse about Adrien's relationship with Marinette and also about her family ring, they see Gabriel, Tomoe and Chloé's parents sitting together in a corner.
As "Adrien" takes Kagami's hand and the dance begins, Marinette runs up to "Adrien" and tells him that he could have told her he was going to the dance. Chloé and Gabriel become furious that Marinette is at the party. As they dance, the robots scan Marinette and "Adrien" dancing and Chloé realizes that this was a result of Zoé and Marinette working together. When Marinette looks at "Adrien" closer, she realizes that he is not Adrien, but his identical cousin Félix and asks what he has done with Adrien. Chloé jumps on Marinette to remove her mask and Félix transforms into Argos. He then releases Red Moon, a sentimonster of his creation into the sky. Argos explains Red Moon's powers: anyone bathed in its light will disappear at its master's command by snapping his fingers. He makes Chloé disappear as the guests of the dance run away in fear and terror. He then is confronted by his uncle Gabriel and makes him disappear, saying he is freeing himself, his mother and Adrien from him. Argos is snapping his fingers and making everyone disappear. He makes Tomoe disappear when Kagami is about to help her get up, much to Kagami's horror. Argos grabs Marinette and leaps out of the building where the Diamonds' Dance is taking place. At Marinette's angry demand of knowing what he did to Adrien, Argos states he cares about his cousin and takes Marinette to a bin and puts her there to keep her safe. Marinette transforms into Ladybug. She shows up when Argos is snapping his fingers and making random and innocent people disappear as Red Moon gets bigger and higher in the sky and angrily attacks him for his betrayal back in Strikeback, saying he's the reason she lost all the other Miraculouses to Monarch, accusing him of working for him without caring about endangering the people of Paris, to which Argos agrees but states that he works for no one and only helped Monarch to get his hands on the Peacock Miraculous and tell her about his plans and the wish he will make when he merges her and Cat Noir's Miraculouses: to be rid of the world's oppression.
By this time, the entire world will have bathed in the light of the Red Moon. Argos gets ready to snap his fingers to disappear all humanity unless Ladybug surrenders her Miraculous, and Ladybug uses her Lucky Charm and is shocked when she doesn't receive anything. She looks at him and then looks around for a way to defeat him. Ladybug realizes what need to be done and accepts her fate as Argos makes her disappear in a puff of pink smoke. As Argos walks around in the streets of Paris, there is absolutely nobody left. Nobody that is, except for Kagami who is furious at him for his actions. Argos then brings Adrien back, leaving Kagami shocked. He tells Adrien and Kagami about how they are all in a world free from oppression.
The scene flashbacks to when Argos was at the top of a building. He creates an amok that enters a ring that looks like Adrien's ring and creates Red Moon. And later when Marinette and Adrien were eating ice cream at the Île aux Cygnes. Argos is hiding behind a tree and watches them and waits for Adrien when he runs off and he hides himself and Red Moon in a changing room and calls out for Adrien. Adrien goes into the room and sees Argos. He tells Adrien to come closer and snaps his fingers, making Adrien disappear. Argos de-transforms into Félix and walks out, dressing and looking like Adrien, he takes off his ring and puts on a ring that looks just like Adrien's. He hides Red Moon in his jacket like how Adrien hides Plagg.
The scene flashes to the present where Argos claims that they can all be free as it is just the three of them. He asks if they are happy, to which Kagami furiously attacks him and Adrien asks how he can be happy if he doesn't have his friends, father, and the girl he loves. Argos then takes them both to where he hid Marinette. He is shocked when he doesn't find her there and snaps his fingers repeatedly, trying to bring her back but it doesn't work, much to his horror and Adrien and Kagami angrily convince Argos to bring everyone back and so he does. Ladybug swings her yo-yo to where Adrien, Kagami and Argos are and de-transforms into Marinette. She catches up with them and they rejoice as they're reunited. Argos leaves ashamed and leaps away, apologizing to Red Moon for creating her with so much hate and such a dangerous power and releases her from existence on a building as he bursts to tears.
Back in London, Argos de-transforms into Félix and hugs his mother as Duusu watches and agrees with his mother that Gabriel is a monster, but with a smile says not all of them are. The next day, as the damages caused by Argos is being repaired, André makes Adrien, Kagami, and Marinette ice cream. At the Agreste mansion, Adrien asks his father as to why he couldn't tell Marinette about the Diamonds' Dance, Mr. Agreste replies with that he doesn't want to hear about Marinette ever again. He calls Nathalie on his computer and tells her about how Marinette is almost getting in his way as often as Ladybug. He receives a call from Lila and asks her to stop asking him for demands. He punches his computer in frustration and anger. Outside the Agreste mansion, Lila says that she will show Mr. Agreste that she is more than a bottle of perfume and reveals that she knows that he is Monarch as the episode ends.

Trivia
- Internationally, this episode first premiered in Brazil on Gloob.
- The episode shares its name with the concept of the Peacock Miraculous.
- Felix Fathom as the current Peacock Miraculous holder Argos, who let fits of rage over the past blind and confuse him until he was set straight.
- Besides the power of Amokization, this episode showed the characters expressing their emotions openly and how those emotions guide their actions:
- Félix expresses his anger and hate towards everyone he perceives as being oppressors, emotions that guide his actions to get rid of everyone except for the ones he cares about and/or sympathizes with.
- His sense of freedom was corrupted though and, through Adrien and Kagami's perspective, he learned that freedom isn't only about doing what you want, but it's also about sharing it with those around you, taking responsibility for your actions, understanding that even it has a price and belongs to everyone not just those who want or deserve it the most.
- He wanted to free the world from oppressors but by stealing the Miraculouses from the one who trusted him he gave power to the biggest oppressor of all.
- After realizing how he acted the same way as his predecessors before him (Mayura and Shadow Moth), in creating a sentimonster to satisfy his selfish desires, he becomes full of grief when he releases Red Moon from existence.
- Félix unknowingly felt shocked when he looked at Kagami's ring.
- He begins to understand the emotional discipline all the good Miraculous holders are bound by like Ladybug and Cat Noir and why the Miraculouses were given to certain people so carefully.
- Even though Felix said he didn't want to hurt Adrien, he ended up hurting him anyway.
- Marinette crashes the Diamonds' Dance to tell Adrien that he doesn't need to hide things from her in fear of disappointing her.
- As Ladybug, she was still mad and angry at Félix for his betrayal and actions in "Strikeback", causing her to fight him aggressively but like Cat Noir in "Jubilation", she kept her composure to think rationally in asking Félix why he did it.
- It was true in what she said, "Winning isn't always what you think it is", as she knew she couldn't win against Félix physically but she won against him emotionally.
- While dancing with "Adrien" at the party, she felt like an outcast class-wise.
- Marinette no longer stalking Adrien is a sign of the emotional growth she developed in "Derision".
- Amelie expresses her frustration and anger towards Gabriel for the way he has been pushing her away, even ignoring her desperation in finding her son.
- Both Adrien and Kagami (especially the latter as she witnessed it first hand) become very angry with Argos for destroying everyone they loved.
- However, unlike Kagami, Adrien felt the same anger, worry and fear before when it came losing a loved one and feeling helpless about it for the fourth time following his mother prior to the series and Ladybug in "Desperada" and "Hack-San", although the last three were done to the same person.
- After Argos brings everyone back, except for Marinette (through their perspective), both become very worried about her safety but when they see her safe, they are very relieved.
- Given when using Amokization the user must have a clear mind when creating sentimonsters. Implying the person controlling them might need to think clearly when directing orders to them. While Argos initially didn't think about the drawbacks using Red Moon in anger, a sentient sentimonster might take action based on the holder's emotions or mindset despite using them for specific intentions.
- Félix expresses his anger and hate towards everyone he perceives as being oppressors, emotions that guide his actions to get rid of everyone except for the ones he cares about and/or sympathizes with.
- The episode also showed people disregard the emotions of others:
- Gabriel forbids Adrien from bringing Marinette to the Diamonds' Dance or even mentioning it to her, as he wants him and Kagami to be the King and Queen of the Ball. Later on, he forbids Adrien from even mentioning her. He also disregards Amelie (despite seeing how desperate she is for not knowing where Félix is) and Lila.
- He and Félix have both been acting narrow-minded in regards to the wishes they desired, as they both were so wrapped up in their feelings that they particularly forgot or didn't care about anyone else that got caught in crossfire, even reciting along with Nathalie in "Passion", "I have nothing left to lose".
- It also showed people containing their emotions:
- Kagami is still afraid of telling her mother how she feels. By the end of the episode, she decides she will do it.
- Nathalie is seen containing her anger towards Gabriel for trying to join Adrien with someone else by force. It is also enlightened how she is going against her feelings to obey Gabriel, as it's the only way for her to get what she wants.
- Even though he was unaware, Félix started to act like the akumatized victims Monarch had created and similar to others too:
- The Bubbler, as they both were blinded by their rage and hatred towards those who had more authority than them like adults but they didn't differentiate that there are good ones in the world too even though their intentions were pure and for the same person: Adrien.
- Lady Wifi, as both wanted something so small but they went through great lengths to get it no matter who they hurt and when it came to said lengths they learned the hard way of why.
- Miraculer, as both wanted those they cared about to be happy but they went the wrong way about it.
- Pharaoh, as both assumed that Ladybug was a bad person when she is truly noble and just.
- Queen Wasp and Dark Owl, as the trio wanted to prove that they were better than someone else but did the opposite.
- Like his previous predecessor Master Fu, both created sentimonsters with intentions that were pure but due to not keeping their feelings in check, their creations turned into real monsters but both were able to fix their mistakes or see the error of the ways with the help of others.
- A new ability of Amokization is revealed, as not only the creator can give powers and abilities to the sentimonsters they create but the sentimonsters can also do that for their creators as seen with Argos and Red Moon.
- So in this way, it is possible for a Peacock Miraculous holder to undo the damage they cause as long as they have the power to do it.
- The Peacock Miraculous represents showing emotions and everything they mean and like feelings, life should be respected despite taking it.
- How bad Gabriel's influence as Monarch affected the people due to him always feeding off of everyone's negative feelings, the people couldn't express themselves freely anymore fearing that they'll have to keep them buried as Marinette mentioned in "Transmission" and more.
- Like how Adrien as Cat Noir could share his feelings of love so easily.
- Also as Cat Noir, Adrien completely swooned over Ladybug but over time his feelings changed to Marinette.
- The same way Kagami learned in "Protection" and expressed while fighting Felix.
- Like how Ladybug and Shadow Moth, commented on Chloe's anger in "Queen Banana".
- Felix was so angry that he made a horrible mistake and like Gabriel didn't bother to fully understand Ladybug and Cat Noir.
- If Gabriel had thought through the crazy circumstances, Adrien did what he asked. It's likely that he assumed both boys switched places again and when Marinette crashed the party he believed that she was in on their trick but she wasn't. Plus, he also forgot when living in the world of rich and famous or in a small town or community word travels fast.
- Through his madness, Gabriel blamed Nathalie for believing that she was responsible for starting Adrien's and Marinette's relationship but in reality it was him.
- The emotions towards the sentimonsters were changed as Gabriel and Nathalie only saw them as beings to do their bidding and had no problems in destroying them while Félix's feelings towards them were genuine and harbored great sadness in doing it.
- As well as Felix was so obsessed with trying to save the sentimonsters that he didn't consider that Ladybug and Cat Noir wanted the same thing.
- Just as the sentimonsters deserved to be saved, so did the people of Paris and the world.
- Felix should've taken solace in a way the sentimonsters can come back, normal everyday people (at least outside of the Miraculous Ladybug superpower) can't and just as human lives can be short as seen through various episodes so were the lives of the sentimonsters.
- This episode was finished as of September 10, 2022.[3]
- This episode reveals that Marinette and Adrien are a couple meaning that they officially became one some time between the events of "Adoration" and this episode.
- It's revealed that Prince Ali's chaperone is named Soraya Khan.
- This is the first episode in which Gabriel doesn't transform into any of his Miraculous-wielding forms.
- Consequently, it's also the fourth episode not to have any akumatized villain, following "Sentibubbler", "Destruction" and "Illusion".
- It is also one of the few episodes where Gabriel is not a major character.
- This is also the fourth time Gabriel is a minor character in the permanent timeline, following "Kuro Neko", "Ephemeral" and "Cat Blanc".
- This is the fourth time where Adrien doesn't transform into Cat Noir following "Style Queen", "Mr. Pigeon 72", "Transmission" and the preceding "Conformation".
- This is also the nineteenth time where Adrien is a minor character in the permanent timeline following "Style Queen", "Cat Blanc", "Truth", "Gang of Secrets", "Mr. Pigeon 72", "Furious Fu", "Sole Crusher", "Guiltrip", "Crocoduel", "Optigami", "Sentibubbler", "Qilin", "Dearest Family", "Ephemeral", "Destruction", "Intuition" and "Adoration".
- This is the sixth time where the Miraculous Ladybug superpower wasn't used following "Ladybug and Cat Noir", "Catalyst", "Destruction", "Illusion" and "Intuition".
- This is the fourteenth time where magical charms don't appear since their introduction following "Sentibubbler", "Hack-San", "Ephemeral", "Kuro Neko", "Risk", "Evolution", "Destruction", "Illusion", "Passion", "Reunion", "Transmission", "Deflagration" and "Intuition".
- It's revealed that the reason why Félix wanted the Peacock Miraculous was to have the power he needs to force Ladybug and Cat Noir to give him their Miraculous so that he can use the Absolute Power to grant his wish of having a world where everyone is oppressed by no one and is free to be and/or do what they want. The Peacock Miraculous also ensured he would get what he wanted, even if the heroes decided not to surrender their jewels to him.
- His superhero name, Argos, is a reference to the Greek mythological creature of the same name, whose multiple eyes were placed by Hera on the peacock's tail.
- And yet, Félix is the fourth character overall that wanted the hero duo's jewels for themselves besides Gabriel following Markov, Bob Roth and Nathalie.
- Félix is the second Miraculous holder to reveal his identity as such to the public, following Chloé, who revealed her identity as Queen Bee in "Queen Wasp" to the public.
- This is the fifth time a character has a musical number outside the specials, after "Silencer", "Deflagration", "Perfection" and "Migration".
- Lila is shown to be one of the few people aware of Gabriel's supervillain identity alongside Nathalie Sancoeur, Adult Bunnyx, Felix Fathom and Tomoe Tsurugi.
- It's implied that Amelie may be aware of Gabriel's supervillain identity as well.
- This is the fourteenth episode that features a post-credit scene, following "Miracle Queen", "Gabriel Agreste", "Optigami", "Sentibubbler", "Dearest Family", "Multiplication", "Jubilation", "Illusion", "Transmission", "Perfection", "Derision", "Intuition" and "Protection".
- This is the sixth not to feature Gabriel Agreste, following "Multiplication", "Jubilation", "Derision", "Intuition" and "Protection".
- This is the second time Ladybug received no item as her Lucky Charm but unlike "Sandboy", it wasn't a result of a power cancellation.
- The reason for this is either Tikki was aware of Argos' desire, or that Ladybug realizes that she couldn't defeat him, and since he already had the power to do what he wanted, it was best for Ladybug to let Argos see the consequences of his actions.
- Which could imply that a kwami's level of awareness isn't limited to actions of their holders but also to those that around their owners too.
- So in extremely rare instances, a Ladybug Miraculous holder doesn't always need a Lucky Charm object to defeat a villain.
- This is the twenty-seventh time where Ladybug's Lucky Charm is an object that appeared in a previous episode. (Including the vehicles in "Weredad", "Queen Banana", ''Glaciator 2", and "Ephemeral" this is actually the thirty-first time this happened.)
- The reason for this is either Tikki was aware of Argos' desire, or that Ladybug realizes that she couldn't defeat him, and since he already had the power to do what he wanted, it was best for Ladybug to let Argos see the consequences of his actions.
- Following Mei Shi in "Miraculous Shanghai", this is second time the villain of an episode sees the destruction they caused.
- It is revealed that Kagami is a descendant from a family of samurai and she always follows her mother because it is tradition for her to obey.
- It's implied that Félix wants to get rid of people in power because he was controlled and excluded throughout his life. It is unknown who controlled him, how, or to what extent.
- However, later in "Pretension", he mentions to Kagami that his father was even more controlling and strict than Tomoe, so it's possible that he caused his desire to free oppressed people.
- In "Representation", it's revealed that he is a senti who was constantly controlled and abused by his father throughout his childhood. When his father died, he seized the ring containing his amok, granting him his freedom.
- This is the third physical appearance of London in the series, after "Startrain" and "Multiplication".
- During Ladybug's fight against Argos, a scene from "Evolution" is reused.
- This is also the third episode where Marinette crashes a party or private event following "Party Crasher" and "Gabriel Agreste".
- Ladybug saying, that "there is always a solution" is a recall to "Timetagger".
- This is the fourth time where many characters are technically killed in the show following "Timebreaker", "Miraculous Shanghai" and "Cat Blanc" but this is the first time it does by the effects off a sentimonster.
- This is the third time Félix impersonates Adrien and like the other times, it led to trouble following "Félix" and "Strikeback".
- This is fourth time Marinette's hair is seen in a bun following "Animaestro", "Kwamibuster" and "Derision".
- This is first time Marinette is seen wearing a dress.
- The scene where Marinette got extremely angry and attacked a villain without thinking calmly, is similar to Samurai Jack episode The Search for Jack's Sword.
- This is the first time where the powers of the Peacock Miraculous is used by a minor leaving Akumatization as the last Miraculous superpower that hasn't been used by a minor so the effects of Akumatization under these conditions is unknown.
- Because Argos created Red Moon before transforming during the Diamonds' Dance, the detransformation countdown of the Peacock Miraculous is yet to be showed or mentioned.
- Félix does share some similarities to Lord Shen from "Kung Fu Panda 2":
- As both come from high class families or royalty.
- Both are peacock villains; while Shen was an actual peacock, Félix was peacock themed supervillain.
- Both turned something that was supposed to be used for good to evil: for Shen his parent's fireworks and Félix the Peacock Miraculous.
- Both did horrible actions in desperate bids to change their fates: Shen killed all the pandas so no one could stop him, Félix used his powers from Red Moon to get rid of oppressors so he and others can live in a world where they're free.
- But instead of causing happiness they caused terror and were reprimanded for their actions: Shen was banished from his home by his parents and Félix was chewed out by his cousin and Kagami.
- But unlike Shen, Félix was able to undo what he did and felt great remorse for his actions.
- Both were defeated by great warriors: Shen was defeated by Po physically; Félix was defeated by Ladybug, Adrien and Kagami emotionally.
- This is the fourteenth time Plagg doesn't make an appearance, following "Prime Queen", "Despair Bear", "Malediktator", " Animaestro", "Christmaster", "Truth", "Furious Fu", "Guiltrip", "Crocoduel", "Qilin", "Destruction", "Determination" and "Intuition".
- Unlike several other times where Cat Noir was "deceased" at the villain's hands, this is the first time where it's done with Ladybug as well as being brought back.
- Felix was in a dilemma too, had he known that Ladybug and Marinette were the same person, he would've been aware that he unintentionally roped Adrien into stealing from his girlfriend and attempted to do it again.
- Interestingly it wouldn't have mattered if Marinette had came to the party or transformed at all because of Argos and his sentimonster. Had she not transformed to make it look like Ladybug was gone then, due to Felix not knowing that both girls are the same person; Adrien and Kagami would convince Argos to bring her and Cat Noir back convincing him that they weren't the oppressors he thought they were. Then, if he was Felix would use his powers to restore them to prove it but due to his powers not working on whose who have dual identities thinking he killed them leading to Felix learning his lesson another way.
- Since Kagami knew of Marinette's secret back in "Perfection", this episode would act as her sign of proof.
- Even though Felix didn't realize it, he put Ladybug in the same situation she and her team were in during "Strikeback".
- This is the sixth time a character sings outside of a performance or recording, following "Princess Fragrance", "Befana", "Santa Claws", "Deflagration" and "Migration".
- This is the second time someone dances to that song, after Gabriel in "Deflagration"
- This is the third and last episode of season 5 where Kaalki is absent.
- This is the second time someone has to clean up the damage instead of using the Lucky Charm. The first happened in "Miraculous New York".
- This is the second 18th produced episode to introduce a new hero, following "Ikari Gozen".
- However, Félix only officially becomes a hero in "Pretension".
- Coincidentally, these two heroes (Kagami and Félix) introduced in these episodes would later become a couple in "Pretension" as well.
Errors
- In the English dub, when Argos de-transforms, he says "Hold my feather" instead of "Fold my feathers".
- In the flashback where Argos creates Red Moon, he doesn't charge the amok with energy, the amok itself gains energy by itself.
- When Argos drops Marinette in the trash can on the sideview, it looks like she is still wearing her mask, despite Chloé having removed it at the Dance.
