"Conformation (The Final Day - Part 1)" is a Season 5 episode of the series, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. As based on the series' production order specifically, "Conformation (The Final Day - Part 1)" is the 25th written and produced episode of Season 5. It is also the 129th written and produced episode of the series, overall.
This episode is also the first part of the Season 5 2-part finale, "The Final Day".
Synopsis[]
Monarch has just placed the final pieces of his villainous plan on his chessboard of evil. He has nothing left to lose, because today will be his final day. The plan he has put in place is more ambitious than ever. Global, merciless, radical. If he were to fail at seizing Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous, the world would live forever in chaos. The unsuspecting Marinette and Adrien have already fallen victim to this plan. Are Ladybug and Cat Noir doomed?

Plot[]
All of the Nightormentors fly to every single country and spread nightmares to everyone.
The episode opens with a news broadcast by Nadja about summer break in Paris and people voting for Caline Bustier to be the Mayor, then the arranged "perfect" couple Kagami Tsurugi and Adrien Agreste will be doing their modeling careers in London and then it goes on to a commercial break of Perfection water bottle. Seeing this, Kagami angrily throws her shoe on the TV screen as she is annoyed by those news. At his lair, Gabriel Agreste and Tomoe Tsurugi launch operation: Perfect Alliance. In a single day, they did all this for their children. Gabriel transforms into Monarch and summons a Megakuma. He then de-transforms and tells the Megakuma to evilize him into Nightormentor and then asks Mullo, Kaalki and Orikko to grant him their powers. First, he gains the power to fly and then Multitude to make clones and voyages all across the globe to spread nightmare dust. The Nightormentor clones returned and fall back in and coughs out the Megakuma turning him back into Gabriel. He tells Tomoe that the nightmare has been spread.
Marinette feels pain inside her head thanks to Nightormentor.
In a dream, Marinette in a Ladybug Knight outfit drove to the Agreste mansion asking the camera that she wants to see Adrien, and the camera wants nothing to do with his son. Ladybug Knight slashes through the gates and climbed the beanstalk to fight an akumatized Dragon. Once she defeated it, the creature turned out to be none other than Gabriel. Ladybug Knight slipped and slashes him, making him disappear like a Senti-being vanishing. When Adrien, horrified, asked her why she did that, Marinette wakes up from her nightmare. Tikki reassured her that he's in London now. Marinette calls her to make sure he is okay, she tried to call him, but it instead went to voicemail. Marinette decided to talk with Nathalie about Adrien's whereabouts. When she got downstairs, Marinette told Tom and Sabine that she has to run errands, and Tom asks her if she is going to eat but Marinette says she's not hungry and states that this has nothing to do with Adrien and that she has to hangout with her friends. Tom had a horrible nightmare about Marinette and so does Sabine. She had a nightmare about Tom being akumatized into Werebaker.
Outside, Alya bumped into her. Since she is terrified that she'll blab her secret identity, she runs away, since they can't be seen together. Marinette tries to reach out to her friend but her nightmares started to return, as she decides to talk to Nathalie and later to see Alya. Adrien has a nightmare as Anti-Cat and Monarch has asked him to give him his Miraculous and Ladybug's. Adrien wakes up from that bad dream and then tries to ask the Gorilla to let him out. Gabriel tells Tomoe to start distributing the antidote and the process has launched. Adrien receives an Alliance ring with a message about the Perfect Alliance app. Adrien tries to put on the ring, but he throws it calling his father insane. Plagg tells him to transform into Cat Noir and find Ladybug, but Adrien tells him to hide. Plagg then reminds and reassures him that kwamis cannot be seen or heard through cameras, but Adrien then responds that he could see or hear him transform, so Plagg then turns the camera off and then proceeds to leave, but Adrien refuses to do that, and Gabriel notices he's not getting signal and asks Tomoe to activate the camera in Adrien's robot.
Adrien hands Plagg his Miraculous.
The robot activates the camera and Adrien suffers a nightmare he then tries to trick his father by putting the camera to obscure his view, but Gabriel turns the volume down and silences it. Adrien states he can't transform as he is not in the right mind, he is too angry on himself for Marinette's love, for letting his father to send him to London and for his image being used in the Alliance rings, and it's making him sick he decided to take off the Cat Miraculous and gives it to Plagg that he can't help so he tells Plagg that they'll meet each other again and Adrien decided to use Perfect Alliance to take a nap.
Nathalie records her last video.
At the Agreste mansion, Marinette arrives in her electric scooter and Tikki finished the Croissants and then reminds her owner that her powers are not meant to be used for personal gain, but Marinette tells her Kwami that this is for Adrien and transforms into Ladybug and goes into the mansion. Nathalie in her dream sees the advertisement of Perfect Alliance and Monarch has both the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses and caused a huge explosion which woke Nathalie up. She them decided to leave Adrien a recorded message in her tablet, but couldn't finish it due to her declining health, she knows that Monarch is about to start his master plan and arming herself with a crossbow, she decides to take him down herself.
Tom and Sabine are calmed down by the Perfect Alliance app and Plagg is traveling to find Marinette, Back at the mansion, Ladybug is looking around Nathalie's room to find her, Plagg searched everywhere for Marinette but notices a photo of Alya and their friends at the houseboat and travels there. At the lair, Tomoe informs 80% of the users have downloaded the app and Gabriel is ready for Phase 3, but Tomoe states that everyone has to be dependant on the antidote otherwise the shock won't be great enough to cure them.
Plagg arrives at the houseboat and sees Alya, but she didn't notice him and the inactive Miraculous holders are watching Adrien and Kagami. Mylène, who came back from her nightmare in that all the trees have been uprooted by aliens, Nino suggests to Mylene to wear the Alliance ring, but she refuses because they broadcast focuses images of Adrien and Kagami, she notices Ivan with an Alliance ring and he tells her that he had a horrible nightmare about Mylène leaving him for polar bears. She asks her boyfriend to take the ring off, but he can't. Mylène screams that the Alliance ring has gotten the resistance hypnotized. Alya and Nino tells her to put on the ring to make sure she won't get akumatized. Mylène, pressured into believing that the ring means fighting against Monarch puts it on. Plagg tries to get Alya's attention, but is sad that it still didn't work.
Nathalie tries to stop Gabriel and reason with him.
Tomoe states that 99% of the population has downloaded the app. And they may begin Phase 3 just then an alarm went off in the crypt and that Emilie's pod was shut down. Gabriel managed to turn on back the pod's power and then tells his wife he will regain the Miraculouses, Nathalie arrives with her crossbow, reminding him he cannot do that if he revives Emilie, someone will have to go in her place. Gabriel tells her that he isn't monstrous to sacrifice a human being, he then transforms into Monarch and slaps away the crossbow and Nathalie passes out due to her failing health. Monarch carries her unconscious body back to her room where Ladybug was looking for Nathalie, but much to her shock, finds Master Fu's tablet with images from the Grimore and of the previous Miraculous holders in their civilian identities, then Ladybug heard Monarch's footsteps and her shock intensifies when seeing him de-transform back into Gabriel and that he confiscated Nathalie's tablet and Master Fu's as well so he let bygones be bygones and let her calm down with Perfect Alliance.
Nathalie passes out.
Ladybug texts to Cat Noir that Gabriel is Monarch but at the last moment she decided to not send it and asks Nathalie where Adrien is, she says that Adrien is safe but Ladybug is not since Monarch is about send humankind after her and learns the truth about her use of the damaged Peacock Miraculous and she is about to die. Nathalie gives Ladybug Emilie's cellphone and tells her to transform back, and passes out. Ladybug tells her to wake up but to no avail.
Gabriel tricks everyone into thinking Ladybug and Cat Noir have kidnapped Adrien and Kagami.
Meanwhile, Gabriel transforms into Monarch and tells Tomoe to proceed to the next phase of the plan by creating a simulation that Ladybug and Cat Noir chastised Adrien and Kagami thinking that they're doing better than them and kidnap them both, then all the Alliance rings were immediately shut down. Ivan hugs Mylene that he's scared when Nadja tells everyone that Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapped Adrien and Kagami. The Resistance all suffered a nightmare and there is nothing left to protect them from being akumatized. Alya tells everyone that Ladybug has done incredible things and especially Cat Noir.
Monarch decided to create a quantum imprint for Ladybug and Cat Noir using a bit from his Cataclysm injury and a Magical Charm to create an app which turns people into Miraculized, superhumans with only the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses in mind. Ivan is transformed into a Miraculized and asked Mylene to help him find Adrien and Kagami, but she refuses as she asked him to take off his ring. Plagg then asks Alya to be his holder but she can't because she'll be akumatized back into Lady Wifi, so Plagg decides to find Ladybug. At the Agreste mansion, Ladybug tried to contact Cat Noir but before she tried to finish her sentence she is trapped as the mansion entered Lockdown mode as the Ladybug and Cat Noir quantum imprint detector has been activated.
Miraculized used Voyage to travel to the portal through the mansion without breaking in and fought Ladybug, asking where are Adrien and Kagami. Plagg notices the fight from inside and decides to travel through the portal to find Ladybug. After a long battle she decided to de-transform and hear Nathalie's words and then the quantum imprint is lost as Miraculized leaves the mansion. Monarch then decides to meet Ladybug in person in his mansion so he takes the powers of Stompp, Pollen, Wayzz, and Kaalki and then uses Voyage to travel to the mansion to find her.
Marinette transforms into Bug Noire.
Hidden in the kitchen, Marinette states that she can't get a hold of Cat Noir or transform as the Miraculized would find her as Ladybug again. Plagg then enters the cupboard to find Marinette, but he drops the ring, which makes a faint noise that Monarch hears. Marinette asks Plagg where Cat Noir is, and he states that he fell victim to the Alliance ring and asks what she's doing in the Agreste mansion. Marinette then answers that it's where Monarch lives as Tikki nods at Plagg. She also picks up the previously dropped ring, and puts it on. Just then, Monarch drags her out of the cupboard. Determined, she glares back at Monarch with a smirk. Monarch is shocked to find Marinette Dupain-Cheng, reminiscing the amounts of times he tried akumatizing her, but she corrects him in this statement. She then unifies Tikki and Plagg to become a fusion of Ladybug and Lady Noire, and kicks Monarch in the face and flips back. After she manages to do this, she heroically poses and puts her fists up, and finally, she states that she's Bug Noire, ending the episode on a cliffhanger.

- In this episode, the concept of conformation: the act of conforming or producing conformity, is applied through many instances and other episodes:
- Tormented by the nightmares caused by Nightormentor, the people around the world wearing Alliances conformant with the fact showed to them by the rings that Ladybug and Cat Noir had kidnap Adrien and Kagami, giving in then to the Perfect Alliance and becoming Miraculized.
- Those who had never used an Alliance ended up giving in to their desperation and started wearing the Alliance as well:
- Adrien, afraid to be akumatized by Monarch and destroy the world as a result, gives his Cat Miraculous to Plagg so he could give it to Ladybug and then accepts an Alliance ring so he could control his nightmare.

- In the episode, Monarch and Tomoe could fool almost all the humanity easily. The reason for this might be that Gabriel akumatized Tomoe after he de-akumatized himself and then she created the "Perfect Alliance" app using magic. This way they could hypnotize people and prevent them from thinking judiciously, just like Hoaxer did in "Revelation". This can also explain how they managed to transform these people into villains without using akumas. As for the heroes, who didn't join him, Monarch might have asked Tomoe not to hypnotize these heroes, so that some of the Miraculized could be busy fighting them. Otherwise most of the humanity would be squeezed into one place and most of them would be hurt or damage the buildings around them. In the episode, if that weren't the case, Gabriel's mansion would probably collapse because of that.
- And this makes sense because after some of the Miraculized were turned to normal, they didn't have any recollection of Adrien and Kagami being kidnapped. This means they were hypnotized via some sort of magic.
- Monarch and Tomoe used Ladybug's Magical Charm that was given to Gabriel in order to locate Ladybug and the Cataclysm dust from Monarch's cataclysmed hand in order to locate Cat Noir.
- To transfer the essence of Cat Noir's cataclysm, Monarch is seen to bare his left hand, which is followed by Cat Noir in "The Collector" and other episodes as well as Bunnyx in "Timetagger", that it's true that holders can remove parts of their costumes even though they are magical.
- This is strange when remembering that, in "Lady Wifi", the villain of the same name was unable to tear off Ladybug's mask as it was attached to her face.
- The two ways it could be possible is that when a holder activates the Miraculous transformation it's done by the holder's desire or by the kwami's magic or the quantum masking.

- The fact that Monarch still has a Magical Charm given to him as Gabriel by Ladybug looks like an inconsistency, as he destroyed a Magical Charm belonging to him when he created the megakuma back in "Dearest Family". However, that inconsistency does not belong to "Conformation", but to "Illusion", as the episode's screenplay had a deleted scene where Ladybug would give a Magical Charm to Gabriel after he apparently "rejected" the akuma after being "re-akumatized" in "The Collector".
- Their idea is a callback to what Team Miraculous wanted to do back in "Mayura", use Hawk Moth's cane to track him.

- When Marinette attempted to transform, she was warned by Tikki that not always it works out for her, referencing most of the episodes such as "The Bubbler", "Volpina", "Santa Claws", "Cat Blanc" and "Risk".
- Similar to "Emotion", Gabriel blamed someone else for something that wasn't their fault.

- Similar to "Elation", both Adrien and Marinette's sense of shock, dread and anger were both at the same person Gabriel and themselves.
- They were both mad at Gabriel for his actions: Adrien for his father taking him away from everyone he cared about and Marinette for all his actions as Hawk Moth, Shadow Moth and Monarch.
- They were both mad at themselves for not acting sooner: Adrien not only let his father control his life but similar to Chloé and Lila, he gave his father too many chances to change and by the time he realized that it was too late. Marinette suspected that Gabriel was Hawk Moth back in "The Collector" but was easily fooled by his tricks and in "Illusion", things probably would've been different.
- This is the third time Ladybug has unified her Miraculous with one or more Miraculouses in a season finale following "Miracle Queen" and "Strikeback".
- However, unlike the first two times, Ladybug unifies the Ladybug Miraculous with the Cat in her civilian form instead of as Ladybug and she unifies the Miraculouses in the first part instead of the second part.
- This episode along with its companion and predecessor have come full circle in Marinette's fear of Cat Blanc:
- Along with "Representation", Adrien completely understands Ladybug's fear in "Risk", unknown to him that the destroyed world in his nightmare was similar to the destroyed alternate timeline Ladybug was in back in "Cat Blanc".
- When she saw Monarch de-transform, it's likely she finally fully understood the "Cat Blanc" incident and what adult Bunnyx had meant back then, why she lied and probably got a good gist of what happened. As she was right about Adrien finding out her identity from the gift, as well as remembered what Cat Blanc said about them being an "item" suspecting that herself from that future knew who he was too. And from Felix's story and their fight, Ladybug figured out that the knowledge of them being a couple reached Gabriel and he did something as Hawk Moth to break them up leading to her partner's akumatization and possibly learning of either heroes identity and discovered why he did what he did.
- But it hasn't been confirmed or denied with the information if Ladybug has figured out that Cat Noir is her boyfriend.
- This is the first episode to make it debatable whether there is an end card or not.
- This is the sixth episode of seasons 4 and 5 not to have a polka-dotted pattern on its end card, following "Rocketear", "Penalteam", "Determination", "Reunion" and "Migration".
- This is the tenth episode that does not have an end card following "Stormy Weather", "Simon Says", "Ladybug & Cat Noir", "Volpina", "Gorizilla", "Style Queen", "Catalyst", "Risk" and "Strikeback".
- This is also the only episode of Season 5 that does not have an endcard.
- It's revealed Monarch's costume comes with removable gloves. It's unknown if he needs them on to create a megakuma or if any of his previous forms, Hawk Moth or Shadow Moth have the removable gloves too.

- In his room, Adrien has the same photo of him and Marinette which he saw during the fight with Nightormentor in the previous episode.

- The photo of Adrien and Kagami arriving was created using the digitized models while they were kept in London.
- Gabriel and Tomoe had been planning the Perfect Alliance plan since "Animaestro" and putting it in place since "Multiplication". They tested the first part of the plan when Gabriel akumatized himself in the previous episode.
- Marinette didn't fully understand that Gabriel is Monarch in "Representation", but she was suspicious.
- The plan and the app are an allegory of people being addicted to their phones and those in power spreading "poisons" and monetizing "antidotes", and causing mental illnesses to make people addicted.
- Even though Adrien didn't live through and isn't aware of the events of "Cat Blanc", it still influenced his decision to remove his miraculous.
- They had planned since 2014/2015 for Cat Noir not to be during the final fight against Gabriel, as they wanted Marinette to unify the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses.
- Ivan couldn't resist putting on the Alliance ring because he has "things stressing him out", about which will find out in later seasons.
- Marinette hiding in a cupboard under the sink is a reference to Jurassic Park.
Errors[]
- The Statue of Liberty is shown with the French and American flag banners from "Miraculous New York", although it is most likely not French-American Friendship Day anymore.
- Due to Earth's rotation, it should've been day in North America and night in South America, and not the other way around.
- Gisèle's eyes are miscolored gray instead of purple.
- When Marinette transforms into Bug Noire, Plagg is miscolored gray before her unification.
- Additionally, she says "Tikki, Plagg, unify!", even though the phrase when transforming with multiple miraculouses as a civilian is "[kwami], [kwami], dual metamorphosis!".
- The map of the world in Tomoe's lair has Southeast Asia turned ninety degrees to the right.
- When Nathalie was recording the video on her tablet, when an Alliance ad popped up, the tablet's recording shows that Nathalie placed her left hand on her head, but she was holding her tablet in it.
- When the Kwamis' powers are being transferred to the Miraculized, Ziggy continues being in her default smiling state, despite being visibly in pain.
- When Nathalie walks down the stairs with her crossbow, her hair streak is miscolored red, when it should be white.
- When Monarch's glove is off, his hand is his normal color instead of purple like his face.
- The Cat Miraculous does not go into camouflaged mode when Marinette puts it on.
- When Monarch uses Multitude to multiply, he glows grey instead of purple.
- When Plagg talks to Alya, the outlines of his eyes are darker than usual.
- When Zoé looks at her alliance ring, the flower on her T-shirt is missing.
- When Kim and Nino are trying to save a Miraculized Ivan, Zoé doesn't have her pink streak from "Sole Crusher".
- When Gabriel says "Hello, I am Gabriel Agreste, designer of Alliance and father to Adrien", the flower on Zoé's t-shirt is missing.
- Just as Monarch is about to get kicked by Bug Noire, his head reacts to the kick before the foot even touched him.
