Description[]
Opened on 1 June 1994, the Channel Tunnel is 50.5 kilometres long, of which 38 are under the English Channel at the Pas de Calais level, and is located 40 to 107 metres below the seabed depending on its location. The tunnel itself consists of three lateral tubes.
The two at the ends are the railway tunnels. These have a diameter of 7.6 meters. In addition to the railway, the two tubes have a platform to reach a cross section (emergency exit) that is every 375 meters.
