—Cat Noir, "Sublimation" |
An Antikuma is a magical energy beam capable of taking the Miraculous powers from the target. The use of these butterflies for evil is demonstrated by Chrysalis while Ladybug, Cat Noir and the whole Miraculous team have to avoid them.
In Season 6, Chrysalis found a way to boost her powers, letting her create an Ultrakuma, which is a stronger version of the Megakuma, that enabled her to shoot Antikumas from the akumatized villain's light mask.
Appearance[]

Antikuma shot towards Cat Noir
Antikumas are butterfly-shaped energy beams that are longer than the normal akuma having sharper edges. They look more similar to dragonflies, and shoot out like arrows. They glow pink.
Creation and Abilities[]

Chrysalis creates an Antikuma.
With her upgrade from Megakumas to Ultrakumas, Chrysalis became capable of summoning Antikumas. At any moment when the akumatized supervillains require assistance (even without asking for it), Chrysalis encourages them then blows into her steady hand. This action summons a swarm of Antikumas (or just an Antikuma according to Chrysalis' intentions).

Cat Noir turned grey after being hit by a swarm of Antikumas.
Once these antikumas hit the target, they are capable of severing the transmission of powers between them and the Miraculous, rendering them temporarily powerless. This is perceived by the costume of the target losing its color and becoming greyish.
As seen in "Daddycop", antikumas are also able to neutralize any kind of power-up, as shown when an antikuma inflicts Astrocat when he was fighting the titular villain.
Weaknesses[]
- As seen in "Sublimation", although ultrakumas allow the user to shoot antikumas through akumatized villains' masks, they have no control over the direction they are cast, as they are dependent on where the akumatized villain is looking at.
- Although antikumas are capable of leaving a Miraculous holder powerless, the latter still retain the magic that conjures their costumes that protect their bodies from harm and hides their identity.
- As seen in "Daddycop", although the holder is left powerless, they still can regain their powers by detransforming then transforming again.
Uses[]

Etymology[]
- The term "Anti-" applied to akumas signifies their ability to strip powers from superheroes rather than granting them to supervillains.
Trivia[]
- The creation of antikumas confirms what was written in the Grimoire; "the only limits to the powers of the Miraculous are those their holders set for themselves".
- They are the second known power to be created that is not a stronger version of a previously existing power (like the megakumas which are just stronger akumas), following the magical charms.
- It remains uncertain if a positive counterpart to it exists, however, they are most likely related only to the Akumas (as their negative counterpart) due to their naming conventions.
- However, considering akumatization and kamikotization are still the same power, it's very likely there is a version of Antikumas related to the latter.
- It's unknown what would happen if an antikuma would hit someone whose powers don't come from a Miraculous, like an akumatized/kamikotized champion, a sentimonster with powers or a non-Miraculous superhero/supervillain.
