Gabriel is Hawk Moth evidence list:
He likes being in charge and controlling people, but keeps them all at arm's length. He likes to avoid any risky and distasteful personal interactions.
Gabriel has a staff to take care of his menial tasks in the outside world and take care of his household and Adrien's needs. Hawk Moth has akumatized puppets to do his dirty work so that he never has to sully his own hands.
Gabriel never leaves his home (unless forced to) - notice he only appears outside the safety of his fortress on television monitors and on video displays on tablets held by his underlings. Hawk Moth never ever leaves the safety of his lair, and communicates only by means of mental projections into the minds of his pawns. And what about that elaborate home security system in Agreste's house? Sure he's rich, but steel walls that drop down to protect the house from invaders? Makes you think he's expecting something far worse than having his safe burgled.
We know that behind that huge portrait of Mrs. Agreste is a hidden room with a little shrine to her -- in which we can see the Peacock Miraculous brooch. It's there that Adrien discovers the book filled with ancient Miraculous heroes, which he takes. Later Master Fu confirms that the book is one that was stolen from the temple of the Order of the Guardians of the Miraculous, of which he's the only known surviving member. The Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous were both stolen on the night the temple was destroyed (along with the rest of the Masters).
Gabriel is a top fashion designer. Hawk Moth has an elaborate sense of fashion (those lapels!) and carries a walking stick (where the heck does he have to walk in that one circular room?) Gabriel's distinctive hairstyle comes to a peak at the top and back of his head, making him LOOK like a hawk! Both of them tend to rant a little when something upsets them.
We see the man who is transformed into Hawk Moth in "Origins Part 1" holding a locket with Mrs. Agreste's picture in it -- right before he's transformed.
Before deciding to akumatize Simon -- who wants REVENGE on Gabriel Agreste -- in "Simon Says", Hawk Moth assesses the possibilities. "It's risky" he says (to expose Gabriel to the threat Simon would pose if granted superpowers). But he decides that a threat against Gabriel Agreste is exactly what's needed to lure Ladybug and Cat Noir close, to act as Gabriel's protectors. And that would mean that their Miraculous' are within easier reach for him.
Exactly and doesn't Gabriel seem a bit too interested in Ladybug's and Chat Noir's miraculous? He asked Ladybug, "May I?" MAY YOU WHAT? TAKE OFF HER MIRACULOUS AND EXPOSE HER IDENTITY!?
And in "Simon Says", Gabriel says to Adrien, "I never noticed your ring before."
Unusual if he's just a fashion designer with an interest in jewelry and accessories.
And speaking of that, he's close enough... so why doesn't he just move quickly and GRAB their Miraculous from them? Well, in Ladybug's case, she's still powered-up, so chances are he could never be quick enough to get them from her. Too much risk of exposure if he fails, too. But in Adrien's case, he *could* move quickly, and even overpower him if necessary, since Adrien is not in his trans-form as Cat Noir. Or even, as Adrien's father, just DEMAND that his son give him his ring.
Instead, he just asks politely... as if, somehow, he's *prevented* from taking those Miraculous by force -- I mean, he PERSONALLY, not his akumatized minions. Kind of like the old folklore about a vampire not being able to enter your home unless you invite him in.
I wonder what would happen if a miraculous got akumatized.
I don't think it could ever happen unless the user of the Miraculous was not chosen for it.
The very qualities that make someone a Chosen One for a particular Miraculous are the same qualities that would render that person a completely unsuitable candidate for akumatization.
In other words, to be able to harness a Kwami's power, a person has to have a certain inner strength and force of will. If that's the case, it doesn't mean that they never have any negative emotions or feel bad about anything, but with their particular mental makeup, they can handle it. They don't become consumed by things like that.
Yet ladybug still has feelings and we've seen her get mad before.
Unless you're not suitable for the Miraculous you're using. You weren't meant ever have it. It's meant for someone different, a different type of person altogether. Then you can't handle the power of that Miraculous, and in trying to bend it to your will, it bends YOU -- and that's where Hawk Moths come from.
What do you think?
